I thought Azumi was cool...didja like it?
Felt like a manga.
Have yet to see #2, but I'll probably buy both in a double pack.
That girl is hot, man...

I just saw Scarface for the first time.
I had a friend who insisted I see it, literally getting on my ass with a "how could you not have seen this by now?!?" so since I just borrowed the game from him too, I figured I'd give it a look.
In all honesty considering how many people have talked this movie up, I just didn't think it was that great...it was ok, it was watchable, but nothing outstanding whatsoever in my opinion, I could probably do without ever seeing this one again.

I get why my friend liked it, or at least I suspect I do...first having seen a film like that at about the age of 13 would have you convinced it was pretty hot shit on account of the swearing and violence, maybe?

For me, it just seemed generic. The characters were just unlikable to me.
It was not "bad" by any stretch, just not the classic I've heard it made out to be...especially considering the other works of the writer and director.

I think Scarface grows on you with a few viewings. I saw it for the first time when I was about 13 and have gorwn to appreciate it more over the years. A few scenes really stand out but it is long winded. Along with Mean Streets it really set the pace for modern crime/gangster flicks. What's the game like?

Its a blast. Definitely better than Versus, which I thought was Kitamura's magnum opus. Some of the action sequences are absolutely mindblowing and top-notch. And Aya is a hottie!
I ve heard good things about pt 2, so definitely keeping an eye out for it. Its a must-buy for sure.

This Is Spinal Tap (1984)

I'll admit...this was not what I was expecting at all. But once I got used to the undeniably unique sense of humor, I thought it was fantastic. A great mix of subtlety and in-your-face comedy, with an amazing cast - made even more impressive by the fact that most of it was improvised. That's talent.

You should watch the Howard Hawks original. It's definitely my favorite gangster movie.

Stuff like Martyrs looks really sympathic, beside that.

From Beyond. Fun erotic horror flick. Jeffrey Combs was hilariously dramatic in every stressful situation. Though not as creepy as Lovecraft's writing, still good horror. Ashe.

Total letdown for me, I don't think I'll ever watch it again.

A Hard Day's Night (1964)

I dare you to find a more fun movie than this. Even with the lack of any discernible plot, watching The Beatles go about their adventures has got to make this one of the most entertaining films of all time. Great music, snappy dialogue, lots of sight gags and situational comedy...hilarious, fun, irreverent and just an all-around good time.

Now I have to get hold of Help!...

Disease 08-14-2009 08:10 AM

Quarintine

It was an unecasary remake, but done well. But I wouldn't view it again, I would watch Rec instead.

Timber Falls. Pretty typical backwoods horror that is rather painful to watch yet still alluring cuz ya want to see the baddies get theirs. Altogether, with some decent twists and some icky, self righteous overtones, it was a pretty decent watch. Not sure about that ending-lame or hilarious??? Ashe.

The Dirty Dozen (1967)

Not usually too fond of WWII movies, but this is just flat-out badass. The characters, portrayed by one of the best ensemble casts ever put together, are really what makes the film - lots of laughs throughout, and lots of tension near the end make it an undeniable classic. Great, great movie.

The Last movie I saw in Theaters was the New Friday the 13th. We just rented "Haunting in Conneticut" not long ago and I liked it:-)

District 9- Believe the hype. Great, intelligent film that encompasses horror, social commentary, sci-fi, action and drama. Wonderful lead performance and stunning effects work from Weta. The first film I've seen all summer that I didn't want to end and would have gladly sat through 2 more hours to see more of the story. I really hope a sequel is made. The orgy of destruction that climaxes the film must be seen to be believed.

Pickpocket (1959)

http://shopping.yahoo.com/video/imag.../47/252047.jpg

The camera captures pictorial beauty of an abstract world through in depth observation of hands, faces, and objects and where natural sounds rather than music supports to create the atmosphere. And thereby Bresson portrayed a passion of crime not with human psychology but with the capacity of the soul to survive in a world of pain, disbelieve, and restriction.
The amazing railway station sequence, with its extraordinary display of tricks of the trade that seem more magic act than crime and the stylized nature of the sound that always keeps Michel (the protagonist) kind of detached from the world around him are much more thrilling displays of technique. The art of the crime glorified by excellent camera-works and editing, which is nothing less than sheer mastery, you can say a ballet of thievery.
Throughout the film sometimes the acting of the cast, mainly the lead was somewhat flat and expressionless. But there was a deep coldness in this style of performance which makes it surprisingly and ironically acceptable and fits well in the movie.

A pretty good action flick, I don't think you can ask for anything more than this in an X Men movie.
