Finding the secrets and items I'm missing on Dracula X Chronicles for PSP.

cheebacheeba 06-09-2015 06:45 AM

I'm actually playing through the first Deus Ex title.
Only ever played it once, maybe in 2005. Quite involved for an FPS.

Back in the day I purchased a new pc, only to find out it was obsolete in terms of the graphics card. Dodgy store. Like they wouldn't have known - but it was trying to play Deus Ex 2 that alerted me to the problem.

Now with steam, I've managed to acquire all the games...look forward to checking the rest of them out, even though I've heard comparatively little about them.

I believe you've mentioned that game at least 5 times before.

Could you contribute with something else perhaps?

I've gone back to Alan Wake but on PC this time, with all the graphical upgrades. Quality game with a good (if at times bonkers) storyline. Also replaying through Alien Isolation. On hard!

I bought Alan Wake on sale a while ago. I couldn't get more than 30 minutes into because the controls were so awful.

The Evil Within. It's pretty good so far. Kinda got a learning curve from the beginning but once it picks up, it gets pretty good and it gets easier.

Not even a fourth into the movie and already I can't feel my arms. Maybe I should've started on level 1... JFC don't play level 3. You will die.

cheebacheeba 06-22-2015 06:26 AM

Had a look at "Hatred".
As I thought, not much to it really.
Matter of fact, I'm thinking it's going to get pretty boring - I'm not likely to bother seeing this one through.

I'm also playing the second "Deus Ex" game, not a bad looking game but in comparison to the significantly dated looking original, I don't really find this one engaging at all. I mean I want to try and continue playing it as I have the next two waiting on my steam list and I'd like to see how the series turns out, but yeah...this has not managed to evoke what the first one did in any way.
I miss my poison darts, dammit.

Deus Ex - Human Revolution.

I've recently replayed and again enjoyed the first one, and then *tried* to play the second installment "Invisible War" for the first time.

I have to say - IW was a complete disappointment, and I say complete without having actually completed it...I didn't get more than an hour in.
Everything I liked about the first game, was gone. The storyline seemed convoluted, the characters weren't interesting at all to me...and I found myself bored and just wondering around not knowing what to do, I found the nature of the objectives pretty unclear and just...I didn't feel the game at all basically.

It's disappointing to know that this was technically the only actual SEQUEL to the original game I liked so much - but playing it, I can see how it damn near killed the series for the better part of a decade.

Human Revolution on the other hand, thus far seems to be an excellent game.
I hope that when the series continues, it just carries on from this point.
It's engaging, it's interesting, the characters move around the right way, it's a really shiny game graphically, the dialogue is better...and the storyline makes sense...There's some new features and some old features that were missing from the second one.

I'd recommend this game, even to those that never played the first.
Enjoying it a lot.

Tried the "Just Cause" games. #2 looked a lot better but ultimately I turned both of them off. Not really about the games, I'm just a bit judgmental these days and a game really has to grab me or I just don't bother.

Installing the second epis0de of the walking dead telltale game at the moment. I stuck through the first, looking forward to this.

Despare 07-21-2015 02:51 PM

Just Cause 2 is awesome with the free multiplayer mod, otherwise it's just not engaging.

Goat Simulator
Headbutting "Michael Bay Ninja Turdles" while wearing a Deadmou5 helmet as a goat is more entertaining than I thought it would be.

cheebacheeba 07-24-2015 03:21 AM

Started on "The Walking Dead" Season 1.
While I realise they're not games in the traditional sense, I like the universe and the storyline. I enjoy. Have waited quite some time to actually play this.

My wife sat and watched me play the game in the beginning, and then asked me to keep playing when she was around so she could see how the story played out. Damn good writing. Wolf Among Us was really good too, Tales From the Borderlands was fun, and I actually think they'll do a good job with Minecraft: Story Mode.

Kane and Lynch - Dead Men.

This is my third attempt at playing this game.
I have been stopped by one scenario every time. I like the game. I enjoy the characters and the storyline.
I got to the scene I could never get past...it's not even that far into the game...and yet again, I could not pass it.

In case anyone familiar with this title was wondering, I am referring to a level called "reunion" where you have to protect your daughter, then fend off someone driving a big-ass tractor/trick thing.

I had the right idea the first time around as it turns out, shoot the window.
It just didn't work.
I tried some 10 times. It didn't work.
I gave up.

The second time, I thought "I'll just stick with it, I'm gonna get this done".
Nope.
Googled it. Turned out, as I said, I had the right idea.
Tried more.
Nope.
Gave up.

Then I found both titles for sale second hand VERY cheaply. It's been a few years, why not? I'm more patient these days, there's no way I'm not going to do this, I will not LET myself give up.

...but I did...
I even looked up a youtube tutorial/playthrough and the guy was doing exactly the fuck what I'd been doing all along.
Now, I'm no gaming bitch, and I'm not one to play in the "easy" team, but I turned the difficulty down.
Tried again.
Still goddamn motherfucking nothing.

I came up in the 8 and 16 bit era, I've owned and played a console (or multiples) from every single generation since, and numerous pcs.
I'm not a professional, but generally speaking, a good 19/20 games I start, I will complete.

This, is just an asshole of a stage.
Whoever okays this kind of stage to make it into a game, should have a different job, they really should.
I have tried this stage what must be a total of 50 times.
Perhaps some have not had to...but I did...
It seems to me that if I have to try something so many times the same way and it's just down to dumb luck that I'm actually getting through it - it's just time to fuck it off once and for all.

But, it kept getting to me.
I really wanted to see how it ends, play more of the stages I'd been enjoying up until that stage.
So, I cheated.
I downloaded someones complete savegame, and replaced mine with it.

I've since been playing beyond this point and I'm having no problems at all moving through it.
Maybe I should have been more patient. I'm sure many other people got past it.
I tried far more times than I was prepared to.

While I really do like this game, I would not recommend it to anyone on account of the presence of such an evil, senseless fuckwit of a stage being present at any point in the game.

For the same reason (almost) with the SAW game that I actually enjoyed and proceeded through quite well, I gave up due to a recurring pipeline puzzle.
An otherwise fun game, for me anyways.
Then someone completely sours the experience by putting something like this, or a timed/countdown mission, or an escort or protect mission where you have to cover an astoundingly stupid piece of shit NPCAI.

So, I will continue to play Kane and Lynch as I an enjoying and getting through ALL other aspects of the game without problem...but when I'm done, I think I'm going to burn the fucking thing.

Going to be starting Kane & Lynch - Dog Days.

As I suspected, I had no problems completing the first one, aside from that one asshole scene I skipped.

ARK is everything I wanted Rust to be but with dinosaurs and Rocket League is a blast.

I'll probably be trying ARK after its out of early release. It looks promising, though I wonder how much fun it will be solo and not on a server.

cheebacheeba 08-28-2015 10:27 PM

Kane and Lynch - Dog Days
Well...the first one you had a good storyline, interesting dialogue, some cool squad based combat...and with this one, it's like you just have a lot of swearing and shooting.

I can see why not a lot of people liked this as they had the first one.
I'll likely finish it, but it really does feel very comparatively linear and simplistic for a game that came out some 3-4 years after it's predecessor.

I just picked it up for the Xbox One. So far I am really liking it. Having to plan out your loadout, the open world and the overall much more intelligent AI.

I loved the fourth installment in the franchise and thought it was a perfect mix of terrific gameplay and awsome cutscenes. This game is nothing like it. It does contain features that i really like in rpg's, such as expanding and upgrading, much like Assassins Creed. But I fear that the missions will get too repetitive before long.

I had a quick look at "Dishonoured".
Not sure if it'll really grab me at this stage.
