I liked it (need I say why?) so sue me.

A small piece of advice to those who havent seen it yet, and are expecting some sort of Army of Darkness II kinda shit...serious reality check, guys. (all of nearly 20 years reality check at that) Remember, all that is history, and Bruce is Bruce. Its goofy, its campy, it has its hysterical moments (tell me if you dont find an ancient Chinese God defending bean curd as hysterical), and most of all...its Bruce from beginning to end. Keep that in mind, and enjoy the show.

Yup.

And most, most of all. This is a typical Bruce Campbell-2000 movie. Very low budget compared to Army Of Darkness. But compared to the other movies he's starred in since AOD, this one is actually... pretty good.

Bloodfeast

That scene with the noyfriend on the beach, where he is talking to the cops... It's priceless....

7.5/10

Zombie Lake

Not a complete waste of time, but after it was all done, I was just wondering why, why did they make that movie? The overdubbing doesn't help either.

3/10

"Boo" 6-7/10

(Thanks to V's 2000 horror tournament. ;) )

A story taking place in an old abandonned hospital. I was sold.

And I actually liked this one. Lot's of creative horror ideas from beginning to end.

The actors left much to be desired and so did the dialogue. Story line wasn't great either. But the scares were constant and some worked quite well.

I can easilly understand why half the viewers would hate this one. But when a movie contains lots of scares i can take a lot of shit. :)

Light Of Day

Great stuff hadn't seen it in years. I used to have a mad crush on Joan Jett as a kid :D

Punisher: Warzone

Quite awesome aside from a couple of annoying characters and the shitty nu-metal soundtrack. Plenty of OTT violence. Way better than the previous version.

The_Return 07-05-2009 07:24 PM

Public Enemies (2009)

Didn't hate it, but there wasn't really much to like about it either.

It just seems so empty...you have no reason to care about any of the characters. The whole relationship between Dillinger and Cotillard's character was devoid of any chemistry, and became utter nonsense as it progressed. The script was poor, and the editing was awful.

Depp did a a decent job, but it was just like a lot of Nicholson or Pacino performances: it was great, but nothing new. We've seen this performance from Depp before...it hasn't really gotten old yet and I was still really entertained by him, but like I said: nothing new.

Bale was pretty sad though...the man should avoid roles that require any specific voice other than his natural accent or just general "American". I'm not sure what exactly he was going for here, but he sure couldn't hang on to it.

I was really let down...a movie about Dillinger could have been a lot better, and with the talent involved here there's no reason it shouldn't have been.

Some decent gorific deaths, some better-than-cheap effects (expected for a direct to DVD flick), and acting which would make Keanu Reeves look like Robert DeNiro. And a gripe to boot - we dont get to see more of the REALLY GIANT planet-monster at the end before it goes kaboom. And that Mechwarrior-esque ending...errrrr...

In one word, cheesy. If you dig your space shit that way, hit this up.

Yeah, I wouldn't rush. I wouldn't go so far as to call it flat-out awful, but it's not very good.

If I recall correctly, you said you're not much of a Depp fan, right? If so...you wont find much to like here. Considering he basically just rehashes himself for this, if you don't like his work to begin with you'll still dislike him here.

Pretty decent violent entertainer with some atrocious acting (again!) and an utterly unbelievable ending.

the Burrowers.

smart, effective western-horror.
I applaud the cast and the writing.. and wasnt at all suprised to see that Robert Hall was involved in this one.

makes a nice companion piece to the other western horror he was involved in (FX work), Dead Birds.

Yeah, his acting is always the same, and he always seems very arrogant. The only reason this movie sparked my interest in the first place, was the time period.

I was surprised about the acting. Quite good all around, for a low budget horror movie.

Also, they manage to make the movie intertaining from beginning to end, even tho most of the story took place in the same building, which was pretty much 2 rooms and a courtyard. Bravo. Made me think of "The Ruins".

Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975)

Hat's off to the director Peter Wier for handling the subject matter in a so enigmatic and intriguing way. A pretty sad, touching and suppressive story that got a proper celluloid treatment through lyrical cinematography and perfect casts.
After the film also glad to see the short interviews of some tourists, producer and the actress who played the role of Miranda.

Thanks to V for remiding about it lately.:)

9 to 5 : Days in Porn

docu on the porno business. it barely scratched the surface - seemed to start out fairly neutral then it was almost like the filmmaker couldnt take the sleaze anymore and the film took a negative and depressing slant .. which is probably just what it would be like - after months of exposure to these kinds of people.
