Loved it! 10/10 on the b-horror movie scale. It's been awhile siince I watched a light horror movie like this one, my brain needs a break sometimes. :p

for horror .. cheezy schlock low budget horror .. it's completely forgivable. you're just supposed to enjoy how ludicrous it is ..

i will say one thing for Doom ...
i thought it was kind of fun when it went '1st person shooter'

it did capture the exact feel of playing the game - in exactly the way Ewe Boil failed to do in House of the Stupid.

and of course there was the one funny line :

***************SPOILER *************************

the Rock : "I'm not supposed to die !"

other than that - i think it was The Rock .. or the way he was used that was the biggest dissapointment.

he is a charismatic guy ...but in this flick he was just a one dimentional muscle head. It was a few steps backwards for this guys career ..

The Jacket - Great little MF movie in the veins of 12 Monkeys. Easy to follow, even though I was drinking. Watching again might increase or decrease this score, but... 8/10

I continued my 'Dead' season last night with the original D.O.T.D. European Version. This shorter than the extended version in the boxset and although not as good it is still the classic that I remember!

10/10

I also watched The School Killer. A modern Spanish effort that borrows from the likes of The Blair Witch Project, Scream and most other 90's slashers. It is starring Paul Nashy (Rojo Sangre) and I must admit to quite enjoying this. Don't get me wrong, the plot is very patchy and as it gets closer to the climax becomes more and more ridiculous, the cast are well annoying (although some of this could be down to interpretaion from the subtitles) but I did enjoy some creepy moments in the film.

It is bascially set in an old abandoned school with a bunch of kids and basically a madman ghost type killer (to avoid spoiler I won't give away any more than this). Paul Naschy is as brutal as ever and so that was why I enjoyed it to be honest - there were some quite good death scenes. Other than that it was basically the same as any other average stupied plot storylines.

6.5/10

if he was just watching it wouldnt be a problem ..
the real issue is - he warbles along to the songs at the top of his lungs ... seriously considering competing for real the whole time !
