I've deleted requests. Sometimes responded to requests, "how do you know me?"; if it's not a good answer: 'delete'. Does that help? ::cool:: |

Dont have to always like the characters... breaking rules can work, but you better be really good in other areas, & probably short. F-13 is a 'classic', captured the title of the simple kills & titts formula, but it's not great film. Halloween was a much better 'slasher' film, with likeable characters. Quote:

So Sue's God parents were black? I could see that; just really obscure. But why not just make all of them black except Ben Grimm? Is a black Dr harder to believe than a black family adopting white girl? No, it's not. Why choose to misstep? Now the film is at 09% at RT, & will be a financial flop. |

It was just an example. I need to rewatch the Halloween series. I only watched each one once and it was before I ever watched Fri13. Quote:

Not that they were teens, but I liked the main two guys in JGTH.

I don't know if I was rooting for them cause I didn't want the baby to be an orphan or if I admired their relentlessness to try and survive. I did feel for the guy being framed and all. Made him quite interesting and with all the shit he went through you just wanted him to have a happy ending. |

The original Halloween is the only excellent film of the series. (critics/ratings confirm that assertion). A lot of Horror fans like them all. Halloween 2 has some effective moments, but coincidentally, doesnt develop likable characters. Even lovable Laurie is reduced to a blubbering mute who simply moves to different rooms; while even The Bogeyman & Loomis arent developed. |
You want character development go watch Schindler's List. Sculpt you might like The Notebook. ::big grin:: The purpose of Michael Myers was an ABSENCE of character smh.

With Halloween 78, I was into the mysterious development of the Boogeyman. (Myers did have character, the supernatural elements, falling & getting back up, wearing mask, tilting his head like a dog, not speaking, stopping until he put his mask back on... made his character not Michael Meyers but a man becoming the Boogeyman.)While it also developed the other characters. You saying Horror is better without it? "Horror" without story is just porn. Im not less of a Horror aficionado because I know porn is lacking. I like good films from any genre. I like the character development in Halloween 78, Shindlers list, Alien, Fight Club, The Ring, whatever, that only enhances my appreciation for the elements & execution of good Horror. Like I said, char development or likeable chars isnt a requirement, but leaving it out doesnt mean its good Horror either. |
