It was a complete blind-buy, Id never even heared of it. The summary on the box intrigued me + it was really cheap, so I figured it would be worth a purchase. Im kind of excited to watch it now:)

VERY happy with tonights purchases:

- Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
- Monty Python and the Holy Grail (2 disc SE)
- Secret Window (Ive been wanting this one)
- Dawn of the Dead (Divimax edition, Anchor Bay. Im too cheap to get the Ultimate Edition, so I decided to settle with this. At least I FINALLY have it:D)

Yep, Im a happy camper with all of todays purchases:D

Oh, I also ordered a new DVD tower. For those whove seen my pics in the "Post Your Rack" thread, it's another of the same model. Pricey, but worth it.

I told myself I was done buying for the week, but I found Ed Wood for 96 cents and I had to get it. I'm reading Salem's Lot right now, and of course the natural sequence is vampires-Bela Lugosi-Ed Wood.
Go figure.

heebiejeebies 07-16-2006 04:08 PM

Went on a bit of a spending spree. Oh well...it's only money!!!

24 - Season 1 (I LOOOOOOVE this show!!!)
Clint Eastwood - Cops (boxed set with Dirty Harry, Magnum Force, and Tightrope)
The Heirloom
Veronica Guerin
The Warriors - Director's Cut
Shattered Glass
The Triangle
A Simple Plan
Speed
Creepshow
Escape from Alcatraz (I guess I'm on a Clint kick.)
9 Samurai movies (on 3 discs)
9 Martial Arts movies (on 3 discs)

I found the last four in one of my favorite places: the Wal-Mart el cheapo bin!!!:p

A movie I used to hate because it's awful, but I have come to love it, because it's a piece of the 70's and they don't make this kinda thing no more. It's not out on DVD yet in the States, so I bought a ratty old VHS. But, I like VHS, because it is the new vinyl. It's like putting an old LP on.

same whay as I feel about this movie :D

urgeok 07-24-2006 06:46 PM

consoled myself by picking up some DVDs at an outdoor market..

The Beguiled (old clint eastwood flick)

Time after Time (i have the laserdisc - the DVD has a commentary)

Dreamscape (old dennis quaid film)

Miss Olivia 07-24-2006 07:35 PM

Dreamscape rocks! I remember that movie from when I was a kid. The snake man scared the living hell out of me.

crabapple 07-25-2006 12:33 AM

That great scene with the kid standing by the window and saying "Are you sure, Alex? He's ALWAYS there!" and then the snake guy arm comes through the window. Eeeee yipe! That was Larry Cedar in the suit for the live action Snake Man, he also played the gremlin on the plane in Twilight Zone: The Movie.

Miss Olivia 07-25-2006 12:40 AM

Oh, man....the first time I saw Twilight Zone: The Movie, that part where he lifts the blind and that thing is pressed against the window scared me so bad I almost peed myself.
I slept with the light on for a week.

Six movie boxset? Kickass. We've got a 3 movie one over here brought out by Something Weird Video. I think the only one of his I'm missing that I want is Gore Gore Girls it was floating about on VHS awhile back but most of the copies have gone to video heaven :)

The_Return 07-26-2006 01:51 PM

Zwoti intrigued me, so I went out and grabbed Altered States. It was in a 2 for $5, so I also picked up Frantic. Normally I would get more than 2 movies out of a bin like that, but I already had all the ones that looked good:o
