I'll always give you a little "nudge" if there's something important you need to see......like this.

You're like my personal HDC alarm clock :D

Just received the Package v2.0 from a certain Margaret Whitteck. :D
It is a goodie box! Plenty of DVDs, VHSes, toy figures, 3 issues of Fangoria and even a card for ale! No books though. Marge must ve thought that I must be buried under the TON that Rayne sent me. :p I will be busy for the next few days, as it's monthly closing time at my office. The package will be on it's way to Ferret in the first week of July. But Ferret, you must promise that you will pass it on. Be prepared for a few surprises! |
You know, it never even occurred to me to put a book (or two) in there! :p
|
Very excited to receive it! And fear not, the package shall not die a death in my hands! I was thinking perhaps (starting with V, since we cannot retrace time) we need some sort of tracer. Perhaps a sheet of paper with signatures on it? Something to stick with the package to track the progress. A (small) world map with its ports of call so far marked?
|
Well it's been in Michigan,Indiana,Delaware, and I'm not sure where V lives.

Just finalised the Package's contents and sealed it up for shipping to England, and I have kept very little for myself and passed on the majority to young Ferret.
Things I have kept - The Wolf Man (original Universal Classic Monster Collection DVD), an issue of Fangoria, and the two toys. Rest are sent on ahead. This is what Ferret shall stumble into, once he opens the package - (don't highlight the following if you don't want to know) A Walking Dead wall poster, Three VHSes - Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead & Day of the Dead, Four Cartoon DVDs, Two 2-in-1 Horror DVDs (includes Tobe Hooper's Eaten Alive and 3 other obscure horror films from the 70s-80s), Four Movie DVDs - Room 6, Pieces, Night Feeders, a Ninja film. Veer Zaara - Hindi movie DVD, (brand new, for my special Indian flavor) One Game DVD - Dark Star One, Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones movie CD set, One Book - Tales of Mystery and Suspense (Hardcover), Four Comics - all horror related, Two issues of Fangoria from the late 80s, One Magazine - Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home official magazine, One collectible Country Ale beer card. I wanted to add another Hindi movie DVD and also a spare copy of 28 Days Later but the box is packed to the brim with the contents listed above. It's quite difficult to pack them all in securely. I hope the guys at the post office have better luck than me. The Package will be out and on it's way to England on Monday. Be ready to receive it, Ferret. I hope you find many cool stuffs for yourself! |
I'm shivering with antici
pation :p Thanks V, really can't wait! Haven't highlighted the paragraph - determined to be surprised! |
And Package 2.0 moves ahead!
Returned from the post office yesterday, and it is sent via Air Mail to a certain Mr. Gabriel Ferret in Great Britain (they didn't have either England or UK in their computer!). Via bus to the state capital yesterday evening, then via plane to New Delhi today, and off to England tomorrow morning. Funny coincidence - the bar code computer system used to ship overseas parcels has been implemented here only 2-3 days back! Before that there was only ordinary package post, with no guarantee of delivery to the other person. Guess it was because this place is deep inside Naxal-infested territory - they didn't trust any person sending a parcel out of here! Finally I can send some other long-pending parcels! Some other people expecting a parcel from me for quite some time will be getting it within a week or two. |
Great to see this finally getting sorted!
|
I'm praying that Royal Mail sorting offices don't mess this up for ferret once it gets to the UK. Oh and that there's no more of the staff strikes we've had lately.
|
So, ferret, did you ever get the package?
|
Uh oh. I hope this doesn't mean someone's going to be joining Gorephobia and The Flayed One in the Package Hall Of Shame.
|
He's out of town and not able to post on HDC from his phone. V reached him on Facebook. He hasn't received it yet.
|
Jeez, he still hasn't received it? It was sent nearly a month ago.
|
Apparently mail service overseas is horrible.
|
I guess so. It would have been faster to send the package by camel.
|
I guess we shouldn't complain about ours, eh? :D
|
Yeah, I have to say it is pretty good. It's often faster than UPS.
|
From my experience Airmail usually takes a month when I send stuff.
Customs might have wanted to take a look into the package too which is the main reason heaps of stuff gets held up. |
Ferret isn't at home so he doesn't know if it's arrived there yet. He said he would give us an update once he reaches home.
Package was sent on July 6th. It would have reached my state's capital on 7th or possibly 8th, then sent to New Delhi (via local air) from where it would have started it's Air Mail journey. Safe to assume it left India at or around 10th July. The Post Office hasn't given me the instant delivery notification so I have no way of knowing when he gets it, unless he notifies me personally. Posting the Registry Number and Package Weight for Ferret's attention - B-RR863649111-IN, Wt: 3520 grams. |
Just arrived home and no sign of it. Neither package nor red slip notification has come through in my absence. I'm leaving for London to do some work experience (at a small production company) on Sunday and don't get back until Friday. However, I'll tell my parents to phone me as soon as anything comes through. My sister works at the post office but she's on maternity leave! Grrr...

I always like reading about this one!

No need to worry, dear friends!
IT IS HERE!!!! Came through today! After 8 hours working at the hell-hole that is McDonald's, I returned to find the eponymous package atop my bed. Loving the contents - hoping my contributions will be equally favoured. :) Thanks guys! If it's okay with you, Avi, I'd like to tear off the little bit of paper at the bottom of the customs declaration where you've signed and dated. That way, I can put it in the package, sign and date it myself and keep a record of the progress! :) |
Yay! Glad it finally made it!
|
Relieved, and glad. Hope you like the stuff I sent you.
You can use my signed paper any way you wish. It would be great to keep tabs of the locations of the Package. Don't forget to pass it on. Btw, who's next after Ferret? |
I was wondering the same thing! I'm in London now, and I'll get back home on Saturday. I can pack it all up and should be able to send it all on by next Monday - who wants it?!
|
Anybody coming forward to claim it?

Well why wouldn't everybody be on facebook?

I still don't think Facebook can be entirely blamed for the lack of activity here. It takes up people's time, but the fact is, if people wanted to discuss horror films, Facebook isn't the place to do it. The forum still has potential, we just need to tap into it.
|
Is there a FAcebook Horror.Com forum fan page or just ppl here staying in touch via FB?

I think the extortionate air mail prices are a big factor in lack of interest in this.
|
I'll be the one paying, so that shouldn't be too much of an issue.
|
He'll throw a couple of those ferrets into the box, too. They are on the treadmill now, slimming down so they will cost less to ship.
|
I'll take it Ferret
