Tobe Hooper direted TCM which is arguably the best horror movie ever made. I'd say that, even though the rest of his body of work wasn't that great, he's still earned the honor just for Texas in my mind.

bwind22 05-14-2006 08:57 AM

Argento wins 10-1 in a landslide!

Next match coming up in a few minutes...

bwind22 05-14-2006 09:06 AM

Wes

The_Return 05-14-2006 12:10 PM

Craven, but only because I havent seen much of Miike's work. Craven is, for the most part, a hack. He made a few very good films, but most of his work is garbage.

my vote if for Brownign but, the 66 version of Dracula was a shortened version of the 31 film - Browning died in 62 and was not Directing from the Grave

The_Return 05-14-2006 04:23 PM

Hmmm...quality Vs quantity?

Browning directed the greatest horror film ever made, but Raimi 2 films that made the list, as well as some of my favourite action movies.

No contest really, Dracula trumps all.

Tod Browning

Twilight_Zone 05-14-2006 05:01 PM

alkytrio666 05-14-2006 05:30 PM

GodDAMN, this is hard.

Actually, I refuse to vote. I can't do that to myself.

Oh, fine, I will.

Tod Browning, but only by a hair.

Miss Olivia 05-14-2006 06:53 PM

Raimi. What the hell.....I'll sacrifice a little common sense for the guy because I like him....although Browning is awesome.....
Somebody has to stand up for poor ole Sam!

Despare 05-14-2006 07:01 PM

Sam Raimi

I have more fun with his stuff and am able to spend more time with it; both horror and non. He's a director who makes both films for fans as well as the masses and also combines the two on occasion. Tod Browning was a pioneer no doubt, but I give Sam the nod.

AUSTIN316426808 05-14-2006 07:28 PM

Raimi

persuasian70 05-14-2006 08:33 PM

Raimi

bwind22 05-14-2006 09:03 PM

Browning leads Raimi in a tight one...

5-4

Need more votes....

(And if the 66 Dracula was simply an abridged version of the 33 Darcula, then it was still directed by Browning and simpy re-edited by someone new. Go check out imdb if you want, but he gets the director credit for it.)
