The Amazing Spider-Man Coming to Kids' WB
Source: The CW March 1, 2007 Spider-Man swings back into television action in early 2008 as an animated series from Culver Entertainment to air on Kids' WB! on The CW, it was announced by Kids' WB! Senior Vice President and General Manager Betsy McGowen and Sony Pictures Television Co-President Zack Van Amburg. Tentatively titled The Amazing Spider-Man, the new series is being produced by Culver Entertainment. Greg Weisman (Gargoyles, The Batman) is supervising producer, Victor Cook (Hellboy: Blood and Iron and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command) is producer/supervising director. The series will premiere on Kids' WB! on The CW, the No.1 rated Saturday morning kids broadcast slate. "The addition of 'Spider-Man' bolsters a lineup that has proved to be the Saturday morning destination for kids seeking action and adventure in the most amped-up ways," McGowen said. "We're ecstatic to welcome 'Spider-Man' to our popular cavalcade of super heroes." "Spider-Man is such an important brand for Sony Pictures and we're thrilled to keep the momentum going by taking it back to television with an animated series on Kids' WB!," Van Amburg said. "It's also an excellent way to launch Culver Entertainment, our newest television company." Riding the crest of Sony's anticipated summer blockbuster Spider-Man 3, the new animated series picks up the original web-slinger's mythology at the beginning of his hero's journey - as a not-so-typical 16-year-old entering his junior year of high school. Having spent the summer engaging common criminals with his new-found powers, Peter Parker must conceal his secret identity while engaging a new level of terror - the multi-leveled pressures of teenage life at home and school while combating bigger, badder super-villains in the real world. "Our goal is to reinterpret these great characters and concepts for our millennium," Weisman said. "We'll have plenty of resonant material for the Spider-Man fan, while engaging the Spider-Man novice with the same thrills we experienced when we were first exposed to the character. Our stories will appeal on multiple levels with plenty of eye-candy, action, humor and colorful characters for the youngest demographic balanced with extensive character development for 'tweens, teens and adults." |

I really liked the first Spiderman movie. Saw it 3 times in theatres cause I liked it so much. I didn't like the second nearly as much so I have a feeling this one will disappoint.

It was an unfortunate let down out here in San Francisco at WonderCon, as the Spider-Man 3 panel consisted of one measly 2 minute trailer and no celebrity appearences at all. However, it did have a few new scenes and a bit of exciting new footage, which we have details of here!
It starts with Eddie Brock going into the church and the “I want you to kill Spider-Man” line. Very dark trailer, all about the symbiote. The Columbia logo turns to black (like black Spidey). There's a new scene with Dr. Connors (aka Lizard) with Peter and they have a small sample of the symbiote and the catch it in an upside-down beaker, and it jumps around. Connors says “it seems to like you.” Another new scene is an extended one of Spidey in his black suit webslinging through some building with subways going by with the camera following (awesome shot) and he ends up right at Sandman before it cuts. Another new line from Mary Jane: “I'm worried about you.” And another cut where Peter says “I need your help.” Near the end it has the text “a hero must fight” (from the other trailers) but then says “the venom within” instead and it cuts to Peter ripping off the symbiote in the bell tower and extended catch scene where a lot more of the symbiote falls onto Brock than just the drop. Then it shows the zooming into the mouth scene we've seen before. Then it shows the title and “May 4″ and fades slowly into the last scene. Then the newest part is it shows Peter ripped up and battered, half of his Spidey suit on his face is torn off, and he's looking around the construction area, confused and beaten, and all of a sudden Venom's hands come down and grab Spidey and pull him up out of frame. That's all for now. Look forward to the new extended clip and trailer this week! |
No More Spidey for Tobey Maguire?
Source: The Courier-Mail March 5, 2007 Tobey Maguire told the The Courier-Mail that Spider-Man 3 might be the end of the road for him. "To me it seems like this is a natural point for the team to break up because we have a lot of story conclusions that were going along for the main characters for the first two movies and we kind of tie almost everything up for the third movie," he says. "It feels like a trilogy to me and it feels like the end." |

Sam Raimi Confirms Spidey 4, 5 and 6!
Source: Heather Newgen April 20, 2007 At the Los Angeles press junket today, Spider-Man 3 director Sam Raimi confirmed that Sony Pictures is doing a 4th, 5th and 6th installment of the popular franchise. We'll have his exact words shortly, but Raimi said that he hasn't had time to think of any involvement and he doesn't want to presume Sony would want him to direct. He said there has to be a good story to tell and that "it'd be very hard to say goodbye to 'Spider Man.'" Sounds like Sony is really confiedent that #3 will do well. Personally I'm sick of all the advertisments and the number of trailers. I really think that they should not have shown Venom in any of the trailers, he should have been a surprise. |
"crosses finger that this will be better then the first two,and ties,if not surpasses batman beings"
|
4, 5 & 6? Sony is hellbent on burying the franchise for good.
|
Why?
The comic has been around since sometime in the 60's...it's not like they're basing it on some short-lived serial...it's multiple series that make up over 3000 comics. There's stories yet to tell, and the movies they've made thus far have only (despite certain storyline differences) scratched the surface. I would prefer to see some kind've ongoing series with a bigger budget as opposed to movies (even if in animated form), but, if it's gotta be movies, then I've no objection. I personally think that the second one was better than the first, and if the third follows along those lines, I see no reason whatsoever to dump the franchise |

$29.2 Million for Spidey Overseas in 1 Day
Source: The Hollywood Reporter May 2, 2007 The Hollywood Reporter says that Spider-Man 3 has earned $29.2 million in 16 overseas markets, topping Spider-Man 2's bow in the same territories by 86% and that of the original by 175%. "The bottom line," Sony Pictures Entertainment vice chairman Jeff Blake said, "is that 10 of the 16 openings had the biggest opening day of all time." All of the 16 bows of the third film beat the openings days of both Spider-Man 2 ($15.6 million) and the initial Spider-Man ($10.6 million), bested the combined gross of both previous films, and that four territories came up with their biggest single days of all time. Sony said France's $6.1 million represented the country's biggest opening day of all time, beating Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire ($3.9 million), local blockbuster Taxi 2 ($4.5 million) and the combined opening day takes of Spidey 1 and 2 ($4.9 million). Germany ($4.6 million) and Japan ($3.7 million) each logged their biggest-ever Tuesday openings, while Italy ($4 million) and Korea ($3.4 million) achieved their biggest openings of all time. Records also were set in Austria, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Egypt, Singapore, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Thailand. "By Sunday, we will have opened in 107 countries around the world, including the United States and Canada," Blake said. |
Spider-Man 3 Earns Record-Breaking $382M Worldwide
It about made its budget back in one weekend. |
(the following may contain spoilers)
First let me say, I enjoyed "Spidey 3", I didn't feel like my time had been wasted or that I wanted my money back, but of the three "Spider-Man" films so far, "3" is the weakest. I think they tried to cram too much into this film. Too many villians, all the problems with Mary Jane and they did damn little with the Gwen Stacy plot (James Cromwell as Captain Stacy was totally wasted in this film, hope he does more in part 4) and they did the one thing that I truly hate in superhero movies, they had the hero (and villians) running around in public and fighting without the mask. I just hate that. I'm a comic geek I want to see the superhero's and bad guys in full costumes.Overall, it was an okay movie, but I hope they do better in part 4 |
i didnt pay for 3, 4 i would.
|
i think it was really good
like as much as i like 1 but not seen 2 yet |
Didn't like it when I first saw it and now, with contemplation, I flat-out hate it. This movie was terrible.
|
Haven't seen it, but my cousin (being a fan of the first one) thought it was horrible.
|
I was disappointed. Overall an ok film but not what I wanted in a Spidey film. As some have already said there was too much going on, too many villains. Venom looked great was impressed with that. Is Mary Jane not dead yet please do away with her I don't know about you but I want to see spider-man not a failed actress. It seemed to drag on a bit for me, the whole time I was waiting for fights that just where not happening. The fights that did happen where good though. In a way I agree that masks should not be removed however in this film I think it made a point, as it showed each of the characters clearer. Oh and Peter strutting his stuff down the street oh please.
|
I enjoyed it for the fight scenes and Venom, but there was WAY too much going on. Including Sandman was completely and totally unneccesary. They should've had Harry kill off Mary Jane which would've done the job of getting Peter in a rage, then have Peter kill or permanently immobilize Harry, then have a fantastic one-on-one Spidey v. Venom battle at the end. Bleh! A Spidey 4 without Dunst would be A-OK with me. I'm kind of even interested in seeing what someone else aside from Raimi would do with it, too. Definitely need Tobey back, though.

So visually the movie was great, really enjoyed the fight scenes, personally I thought the fight with Venom could have been better. The movie started out good, there was character development with Sandman and they made you feel for his situation and made him human instead of just the next villain in the Rogue gallery. I liked the fact that Harry and Peter had their fights out of costume b/c there fight wasn't for action value alone, it was a fight between 2 best friends who have had a falling out and you need to see the emotions of their faces as they fight, in both fights. Like the fight in the Osborn house, it was important to see the blackness around Peter's eyes and the lack of emotion Peter shows when he throws the pumpkin bomb back at Harry, it shows how deeply the suit has consumed Peter and how much he has imbraced it. Down sides to this movie. It had a lot going on, but for awhile it transitioned o.k. but then we get Harry getting a bump on the head and then he doesn't remeber anything. Stupid. It caused a break in the flow of the film b/c then when he remebers its kind of out of place, it was like out of no where. Personally I just think that felt odd. Then, the butler is the one who convences Harry to go help Peter, WTF! I mean Harry helping Peter in the first place was a dumb idea atleast from a comic character persective. But in terms of the movie world it worked, b/c it was like the Osborn story coming full circle, they started as best friends they ended as best friends. I couldn't stand Venom's head, it was like he had Hydrocephaly (big head) and a small chin. Then I felt that Venom should have had a different voice, with Topher's voice I just didn't feel like I was listening to Venom. Speaking of Topher, Brock was a little winny bitch, it drove me nuts. Especially the church scene, when he goes there to ask God to kill Parker. Yuk! But overall the movie was decent, I say its the worst in the series thus far. But its watchable. Oh and by the way, they kind of ruined Dr. Conners, he was a Physacist and admitted it to Parker. Therefore there is no reason for him to experiment with Reptiles. He wouldn't know anything about it b/c thats Biology not Physics. Good job Rami! |
oooooooooh em sorry to say..the movie just bored the hell out of me.
Was probably one of the worst movies i had seen to date. The fight scenes were over glorified..i hated it . The whole plot..the whole amnesia thing..everything... to be honest..halfway through the movie i ended up by listening to my ipod |
