My list, though I will admit to being no expert. In really no particular order:
Gojira Perfect Blue Paprika Silk Kwaidan Godzilla versus Hedorah (the most horrorcentric of Godzilla movies, very Lovecraftian) Matango Frankenstein Conquers the World Ichi the Killer MPD Psycho (I know it's a miniseries, but I think it deserves a spot) Ninja Scroll Terrifying Girl's High School Lynch Law Classroom Female Yakuza: Inquisition and Torture Suicide Club Zeiram (so bad it's awesome) The Bride With White Hair Audition Rashomon Ju-On Tetsuo:the Iron Man Yog:Monster from Space Ghidrah the three headed Monster The H Man The Green Slime The Host |

V - Thanks for this thread - I am getting SO many recommendations!!! |
Don't try it in a sitting. There's a chance your brain will eat itself. You might want to go two episodes at a time.

First off, Godzilla sucks. Second, funny you should mention the low budget for Ju-on the grudge 2, coz as i see it it's the ju-on movie with the biggest budget and the best effects. I also liked a lot of Shimizu's ideas in this one, especially because they seemed new and original and not JUST rehash, as i thought was the case with his former 2 ju-on movies. Yes, maybe the story itself was a little weak, but then again, the story is pretty much the same in all the ju-on and Grudge movies. I watch them for Shimizus creative mind. |
