Backwoods

Great little indie thriller. Masterfully done backwoods tale flirts with both supernatural or urbanoia themes.

3.5/5

[SPOILERS]

If backwoods kids start to fuck with you, don't go back. AND don't follow them to their house... JUST GO AWAY.

...

I thought that that was the weakest part of the film; why the HELL would they go back the next day if those kids popped their tires. I would say Rednecks 1, Chrono 0, let's go to a fucking hotel.

[/SPOILERS]

...

Eden Lake: 2/5

I was really disappointed. Some intense moments, but the characters continued to make poor decisions time and time again.

Wasn't a huge fan.

Yeah they did make some poor decisions, but I put that down to them just freaking out...

The female lead got smarter to it as the film rolled on, and I don't think that was an intentional decision at the end on her part.

Let The Right One In

Swedish flick. Kinda slow and not very scary. Still loved it though. Don't want to give away any spoilers though. Ashe.

The Mothman 03-16-2009 06:34 PM

Harold & Maude
excellent film.

King Of New York
really expected more from this. kinda just dragged on and never really grabbed my attention.

Green Street Hooligans
Not as bad as Rise Of The Footsoldier (which obviously ripped off a few scenes from this film) but still another one of those boring British football gang movies. boring cliché characters and uninspired story.

The Last House on the Left (2009)

Just absolute garbage. Trashed another classic by injecting it with bullshit.
The best part was getting to see the trailer for Drag Me to Hell before the movie.

Dark Blue

Kurt Russell was excellent in this. Reminded me of some of his older films like The Mean Season. Dude's a killer actor that should be in more flicks

My Friend Irma

the first of the 13 Martin and Lewis flicks.

definately provided a few laughs (but only one of them from Jerry Lewis who was mostly just annoying as hell)

Tongue in cheek vampires in LA flick, perfectly watchable when sod all else is on.

Agreed. One of my favorite comedies.

Scarlet Street (1945)

Wow...what a movie. Went in knowing nothing about it, and with no expectations whatsoever - might be why I enjoyed it so much.

The script creates a wonderfully tangled plot, and Fritz Lang's skilled direction keeps everything just barely under control. Robinson gives a brilliant performance, as do the supporting cast.

The only real flaw was in the ending...it ended well, but just kept on going. Made damn sure to drive the point home, to the point where they easily could have shaved off 10 minutes near the end.

Still, great movie - if you enjoy film noir, take a look.

Friday the 13th- The Original.

When I was a kid we knew Betsy Palmer as a glamorous panelist on TV quiz shows. I still get a kick out of watching her beat the crap out of a camp councellor. Great movie.
