Feast 3: The Happy Finish (2009)
As bad as the 2nd one. >>: D |
Sunshine
4.5/5 claustrophobic, tense & good acting along with a great soundtrack. The Happening 2/5 What is it with this guy... great idea with loads of potential ...alas poorly executed. Spent hour and a half watching it, credits rolled and thought hmmm yeah nice what did I just watch. |

Totally agree, could and should have been so much more. The Mist Really enjoyed this one, very tense and surely Mrs Cormady is one of the scarier creations in recent horror. The Devils Chair Some so-so acting and a dodgy script but the look of the film was very good. There was an annoying narration which kept coming in during the film which, at one point, started slagging the viewers off for watching horror films!!!! That said, still worth a go. |
Gone Baby Gone (2007) - 8.5/10.
Pleasently surprised by this one, really cool crime thriller. |
Friday the 13th (2009) - 7.5/10.
Really cool slasher flick. Great in theaters. |
Friday the 13th (2009)
A little fun. Really dumb. I never loved brainless slashers and I certainly don't love this one, but its far from the worst installment in the franchise. Dumbest part (hard to choose, but I think I nailed it) - "I think he went this way"... and they go that direction! WTF? Who the fuck tries to follow Jason Voorhees? The out-of-focus bullshit is a weak substitute for style. If there were a couple of locked-off shots of the action I would have goiven this one a higher rating. 5/10 |

Not Quite Hollywood
A documentary on Australian exploitation and horror movies from the 70's and 80's, icluding plenty of goofy comments from Tarantino. I'd seen 50 % of the movies they were talking about, so I enjoyed seeing what people had to say, also now I want to track down a few I hadn't seen, like "Long Weekend" and "Inn of the damned". 7/10 The Dead Zone 7/10 13 This movie anoyed me some what but it seemed to make more sense than the timecop movie on another chanel so I watched it, I thought someone must have been going to die, but no, the kids just got in trouble, gee it must be hard being a 13 year old girl.. rubbish..... 4/10 |
Rest stop- Don't look back (unrated). I really enjoyed this movie. I thought the original was good too. I would have liked to have seen more torture in the bus. I will give the movie 8 out of 10. I think it was slightly better than the original.

Halloween (1979) - 9.5/10.
One of the best horror films out there. I forgot how well made this is, especially when compared to most other slashers. |
went to see Friday the 13th 2009 last night. Good remake! Go see it now:P

Valkyrie
Singer is my favorite director, and watching his deft hand move this film along was the highlight of it. He does so with perfect command of the basics and very little but highly effective artistic movements. He controls the characters and leaves you feeling connected to most all of the major players. The film is rich with star power and Cruise delivers a compelling performance, the “I'll hear you say it” scene was incredibly powerful. Sadly to me reeked a little of a “pet project” someone felt this was an amazing and powerful story that needed to be told. They assembled a skilled cast, an excellent director plenty of budget and delivered the story admirably. It just never really struck gold, perhaps it's just not as a important and powerful story in the end. The tension is built effectively, but we know how it ends. The characters are are understandable and relatable, yet their righteous stand seems methodical and to vacant of passion. Ultimately it's supposed to be a tail of humanity and national pride standing up to a tyrant, yet in the end I felt no great “human spirit” or charge from it. In the end, we can all understand how hard yet important it was to stand against Hitler, but personally I'd rather watch and was much more moved by the allegorical V for Vendetta. Taken A typically watchable Besson-esque action flick. Liam Neeson's bad-assery was tons of fun and his brutal crusade was given some emotional credence with a decent and warm starting 20 minutes. It's still just an action flick though and it's attempts to be something more fall so very flat on their ass they are better ignored. Pretty decent popcorn action though. Blood Diamond I had heard all sorts of mixed things about this film. I decided to watch on the recommendation of a friend who is far more into the pop corn variety action and said it was very good. It was a hell of a lot more then I expected, and gave me a new respect for Zwick. It's possibly a little too fresh for me discuss it to deeply, and sometimes it's hard to dissect how much you are personally affected against it's merits, but hey being personally affected means it's gotta be worth some praise. Right now, I think it was a fantastic film... I may need to think on it longer. In any event it's still very very good. What did you all think of Blood Diamond? |
Dark Reel (2008)
Bit surprised to see Edward Furlong in this dreadful film. >>: D |
The Incredible Hulk
That was so much better than I expected. 7/10 Death Race It didn't really do much for me, it had none of the character the origanal possesed... 5/10 The Wrestler That was a cool movie, very nicely made and well, I didn't know Marisa Tomei played a stripper in it... Oh boy, that just made my day. 8/10 |
Network (1976)
Stalker (1979) Two of my favorite movies. Good watchin'. |
- Dodgeball (my kid wanted to see it again)
- Hulk Vs Wolverine |
Quote:
You're kid has decent taste, I enjoyed Dodgeball. Better than the other 'bunch of losers win at a random sport' films that have done the rounds recently. |

Nobody makes me bleed my own blood! I heart that movie. |
Jerry Maguire
Forgotten how good this film is but the question remains, WTF happened to Cuba Goodings career? |
I am Legend
Considering Wil Smith was pretty much the only actor in the entire movie, I'm suprised that I found him less anoying than he appears to be in his blockbuster appearances. I thought it was a bit weak over all though as a movie, It ended and nothing had really happened. 5/10 Unhinged A very B Grade slasher, nothing happens, absolutley nothing. 2/10 |

Base Moi
This was very controvesial in Australia, it got banned after screening for a week or so. This was the first time I have seen it, I liked it, I didn't think it was that harsh. It was baned due to the rape scene mainly, all the rest of the sex and violence was pretty gratuitous as well, the sound track was good and it was all over very quick. just a dirty little fantasy. 7.5/10 Slumber PArty Massascre 2 It was fun for a while, rock'n'roll horror, but then it just got ridiculous, um... 5/10 |
Last film watched was Fargo.
Last horror film watched. Stephen Kings 'Storm of the century' for the umpteenth time. :) |
Friday the 13th('09)
-It was alright and worth a watch. Certainly not the worst Friday. |
There Will be Blood
It gets better with repeated viewings. 8/10 |
I still haven't checked that one out.
I'm getting thru Dexter S2 at the moment... really digging this show. |
Quote:
And yeah, I'm with you on Dexter. Really fun show. I'm finished with the first two seasons, but I need to catch up on the third. La Règle du jeu (The Rules of the Game) (1939) This one always gets better with repeat viewings. One of the most truly relevant and ventrous indictments of bourgeois society in all of its spectacular absurdity. It really takes to heart the Shakespearean idea, "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players". It's also hard not to be blown away with the techniques employed in filming it, too. The scenes are complex, and the camera work dances, fluid and graceful. As director Wim Wenders said about it, "In the years before the Steadicam, you wonder how a film camera could possibly have been so weightless." Watching it is a 106-minute-long film class in itself. |
Adaptation. (2002)
Brilliant. I'm always jealous of Kaufman's writing. |

The Zombie Diaries
At first it seemed a lot more grity and evil than most of the other handcam horror movies that came out last year but then it got dull fairly quick. It picked up a bit towards the end, but there was just a lot of time where nothing happened and some dumb script writing. 4/10 Balls of Fury Hu hu ha. Yeah, it was pretty funny, good slapstick, they didn't over do it, just the right amount. 6.5/10 |

I'm going to see his new film on Saturday, " Synedoche, New York" , it's also his debut in the director chair. I'm really looking forward to it, It's showing at the film festival here in Glasgow. |
Go
Not quite Human Traffic but an alright film nonetheless |
Watched "There Will Be Blood" for the first time. I have to admit I was a little skeptical about seeing this one.......sure I heard great things about it but the thought of a movie about "oil" kinda bored me. I could never have been so far off.....of course without Daniel Day Lewis's performance [ Oscar well deserved] this could have been a different story. The newcomer who played the preacher should have been nominated as well.

The Lookout : good movie - kept me watching. man does that kid look like heath ledger
Take the Lead : enjoyed this far more than i expected. Antonio Bandaras delivers as only this guy can (i think he's one of the most underappreciated actors ever) good supporting cast as well. 'to sir with love' storyline made more palletable by the fact that it was based on a real person. |
