Meet Dave - typical, predictable, but a couple of funny moments. hot girl in this one.

The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle (live action) very funny movie ..
beautifully captures the feel of the old cartoons while having a lot of fun with the hollywood stereotypes

then ... hooked up the spare HD DVD player to the new LCD in the bedroom and watched most of Shaun of the Dead

A mediocre Indie "horror" with little humor. Not that bad but I expected something more.

- mama mia on blu-ray - plus all the special features - i love this movie :)

In Bruges

Wasn't expecting much, but I was really impressed. The two leads are great, the script is really sharp, and the ending is absolutely fucked. Great little movie that really surprised me.

Burn After Reading

Hahaha...this was a lot of fun. One of the funniest endings that I've ever seen:D

hmmmm....I'm not even gonna bust your balls for this....I'll just leave it at , being an ABBA fan , its understandable why you would enjoy it.

BABYLON A.D.

After reading some horrible reviews on this, I wasn't expecting much......but it turned out a wee bit better than expected....the ending was still fucked

Pineapple Express.

probably the funniest movie i've seen in ages. pure entertainment.

my buddy was going to give me 2 passes to see this (press screening) - he suggested i take my kid. I thought it might be inappropriate and said no thanks.

thank god i did !

Mamma Mia

I need to pour bleach on my eyes to clean this crap from my head. I'll admit that ABBA is insidiously catchy, but when sung terribly it looses all its charm.

Such a great flick, Sidney Lumet kicks ass.

The Day The Earth Stood Still (2008).

This film wasn't the total disaster many thought it would be, but it was by no means good. It was a very straight forward plot, with no real twists or exciting developments that weren't clear a mile away. It never peaked either, with a very sudden and dull ending.

Blindness (2008)

http://img126.imageshack.us/img126/8...ndness1ss7.jpg

The mysterious "White Blindness (Everyone sees white & white...kinda Darkness of White!)" from nowhere or without any explanation caused a serious epidemic to the mankind.

They needed more work on the story development part and then it could have been a great movie.

Slumdog Millionaire (2008)

http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/3137/slumdog1ly6.jpg

Synopsis:
Slumdog Millionaire is the story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on Indiašs "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life and each chapter of Jamalšs increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the show's seemingly impossible quizzes. But one question remains a mystery: what is this young man with no apparent desire for riches really doing on the game show?

So..."How was Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire?"

A. Amazing/Excellent
B. Beautiful/Good
C. Common/Average
D. Disappointing

and my answer is...B+

First movie of the year, since it's been under discussion here'n there, and I had a friend over that hadn't yet seen it - Wall-E
Not a bad way to ring in the NY.

I'm not fond of romantic movies but just gave it a watch for Javier Bardem & Penelope Cruz and they were as usually brilliant.

Yep, that was my first movie of 2009, I was servearly hung over, it wasn't all that bad, I might watch the second one some time with my nieces.

Brian Cox is awesome.
I really liked how human this revenge tale was...I actually felt like it could happen as opposed to a lot of revenge flicks. Revenge flicks are always fun to watch, but usually they involve the main character sacrificing themselves for the cause or laughing in the face of the law to show how serious they are. I really liked how he really tried his hardest to just do the right thing the whole movie.

The monologue about his family was also pretty heart-wrenching because of Cox's amazing delivery.

Can't recommend it enough!

TGP was pure splatterpunk joy. Everything that MG could and SHOULD have been, if it didn't blow its budget on misleading advertising.

Blood Car

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...Car_poster.jpg

Tongue and cheek movie about an environmentalist trying to create a totally green-powered car and who accidentally creates an engine powered by human blood. Feels like the project of a film student's improv group. Not bad... Cute, quirky, funny, but a little heavy-handed at times.

However, I support the independent filmmaker and at least it's something a little different.

I know it's not a movie as such, but I've just watched all 3 (loooong) episodes of the SciFi channels "Tinman".
I was a little apprehensive when I heard that this was like a remake/reinvention of "the wonderful wizard of Oz", but I like some of the people that were in it, so decided to check it out.
This show, was cool...it was *almost* a remake, with a few interesting twists.
The characters were *almost* Lion, tinman, dorothy and scarecrow, but not quite...how they had their thing, their "missing element" was handled very well.
The scenery was nice, and some of the sets quite intricate.
The effects were on par with most of what comes out of the sci-fi channel.
The acting for the better part, was pretty solic.
So yeah, also had what I thought was a pretty cool twist towards the end that changes your perception of what the entire show was about.
8/10 for me.

The Assassination of Richard Nixon

Sean Penn, Don Cheadle, Rosario Dawson

Another tale of a disaffected loser undergoing a breakup with his wife, which he can't let go of, who ends up trying an outrageous act to get back at the world that doesn't accept him. I'm sorry- I've seen this type of movie too many times before. It tries to make an important statement but ultimately comes off as empty.

I usually like Sean Penn, but this time he just seemed very mannered. His portrayal was like too many other roles he's done.

Don Cheadle and Rosario Dawson were both wasted. The most interesting thing to me was Michael Wincott as Penn's older brother. He has one scene and his performance was perfect.

Let The Right One In (2008)

BEAUTIFUL!

I think this is going to be treated as one of the Classic Vampire Tales of all time one day. After The Orphanage, I'm again emotionally touched by a horror film. :)
