Oh? I've heard it was his best work. Which movies of his would you reccomend?

urgeok 06-27-2006 07:22 AM

i thought vertigo was pretty darn good..

The_Return 06-27-2006 07:33 AM

Most people would say Vertigo is his best work. I just didnt think it was all that great...the actors are good and the ending is phenominal, but the rest just seemed to fall flat. A great idea, but I really didnt care much for how it was done.

Personally, Id say Psycho is his best. Rear Window, Frenzy and The Lady Vanishes are all very good as well.

The_Return 06-27-2006 07:37 AM

Back on topic:

I just got a new futon (sp?), and damn is it comfy:D

Buuut, seeing as I haven't seen many of his films, I just grabbed Vertigo. I'm pumped to watch it. :)

An American Haunting &
Sympathy for Mr. vengeance

tonight.

Vertigo is absolutely his best work, and my third favorite film of all time. You'll like it.

However, you should have bought the Masterpiece Collection. I have half the movies already and I'm still tempted to buy it. It's fucking gorgeous.

Hell yeah. I still need the signature collection (I think that's the other one) but the masterpiece collection with it's purple velvet box looks damn good on my shelf.

Also, I really liked Family Plot, much overlooked.

Masters of Horror 2-Pack: Lucky McKee's Sick Girl/ John Landis' Deer Woman

To be honest, neither of these ones look very good. But then again, neither did Chocolate and I really enjoyed that one.

cheebacheeba 06-28-2006 09:45 PM

Firefly complete series boxset - $24AUD
Nicolas Cage Box Set
*Con Air
*The Rock
*Snake Eyes
*Face/Off

Idle Hands Special Edition - $10AUD

Need for Speed "Most Wanted" - $40AUD included in the price of a pizzahut deal.

Also, About $80 worth of exotic seafood, a nice shirt, a haircut...and found me some near-new shades that actually suit me. SCORE!

Hmm...other than that, bought a $15AUD peice of biltong (http://www.3men.com/biltong.htm), some aftershaves and cologne type stuff...and I guess I "aquired" Alone in the Dark - New Nightmare for Dreamcast via torrent.

I'm going to pick that up tomorrow. To be honest, it was the 2-pack I'm least excited about. Hope it turns out good, though. I can't wait for the Argento's Jenifer and whatever it's going to be paired with.

It actually a pretty good set, I watched both last night. Sick Girl is probably the weakest Ive seen thusfar, but it's still pretty good. Deer Woman is easily my second favourite after Cigarette Burns. Loved it, alot of fun.

So I Married An Axe Murderer...

I remember when that movie hit laserdisc. That was some fun stuff, and it had a good soundtrack. Very good soundtrack. Ultimately a sort of a pointless movie, but I remember enjoying it and it being rather well received by a number of people. Combination of silly and groovy.

Nice score. I REALLY enjoyed this, but if you haven't played Final Fantasy VII, you might not dig it. On disc 2, they have a recap of the entire game you can watch.

Either way, the animation is still awesome, so it makes some decent eye candy.

They do a pretty good job at the beginning telling some of the backstory. Once you get farther into it, and some characters start showing up who you have no idea who they are, you might give a serious WTF. Like I said, though, if you're an animation fan, it's seriously cool either way.
