The last movie i saw was Hide And Shriek

This IMO, was an unexpected enjoyable watch with a decent ending. If you think your own family is disfunctional then watch this movie.

Anyone else seen Hide And Shriek?

Mystery Men

i watch this one on a regular basis - never get tired of it.
Besides the obvious humor - it has a great soundtrack and gorgeous set design. absolutely beautiful..

The superhero action/comedy about more "second stringer" type heroes.
Ben Stiller - Mr Furious
William H Macy - The Shoveller
It's pretty funny, and actually a good superhero type film too..

Tropic Thunder

It was one of the funniest I have ever seen. Tom Cruise and Robert Downy Jr. are great in it.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose

Gripping, engrossing supernatural horror story that only falters slughtly during the final courtroom scene. Extremely well done, IMO- like a great horror film from the 70s.

_____V_____ 11-19-2008 01:40 AM

12 Monkeys
Gattaca

Elvis_Christ 11-19-2008 02:02 AM

Blastfighter

This was great. Action packed, violent First Blood knockoff directed by Lamberto Bava that everyone should check out next time their in the mood for an action movie.

I thought this was really dull and forgettable. Totally weak compared to the 70s supernatural flicks.

Van Wilder 2: Rise of Taj
Seemed a pretty generic semi-sequel to me.
It was ok...funny how Kal kept losing his "indian" accent - I think he's a lot more funny than this film was.

Obviously I don't agree. I was completely drawn into the story.

American Ninja 3

Liked this more than the 2nd flick. Steve James is a bad muthafucker real keen to check out some more of his films.

Geddy 11-19-2008 06:27 AM

King Kong (1933) - 9/10.

Great classic horror film. Miles ahead of the remake.

Dream Warrior 11-19-2008 06:42 AM

Madhouse, Some part's of the flim i felt were good otherwise i was'nt overaly impressed. Father James being the man behind all the insanity was predictable but cleaverly done. The dog's skull being drilled was (if anything) amussing, i can't beleive people were outraged by this when the movie was first released, if you can't see that being as fake as Jordans tits then theirs something wrong with you.

I did enjoy this movie to a certain degree, something tells me Madhouse did'nt have a point to it really, did'nt have that "kick".

Overall 6/10,

Garden Party

Angra 11-19-2008 10:05 AM

"Role models" 7/10

Had a few lines here and there that cracked med up. Nice finally to see Paul Rudd in a lead role for a change. Personally i thought he was the highlight of "Knocked up" and i've wished to see more of him ever since.

Couldn't stand the typical american candyfloss ending tho. I hate candyfloss endings in general, so don't take it personal you people..

No shit. Watch Dogville... it's messed up, but at least you'll get a wholly satisfying ending.

Painfulldeath 11-19-2008 01:53 PM

Schindler's List : Epic. Spielberg pulled off a great re-creation of the Holocaust. The acting was pure genius all-across the board. Sure all of the killing was sad, but I really found the back story touching as well. P.S: Liam Neeson is the fucking man. 9.75/10.

Reqiuem for a Dream.I liked it.Felt sorry for the mother.Great film,I think!

The Mothman 11-19-2008 08:49 PM

High Plains Drifter
Joe Kidd
Two Mules for Sister Sarah

I liked all of them, fav to least fav in the order I listed them too.

I think Joe Kidd deserves more recognition than it gets. i never hear anything about it.

A couple questions about some things i didnt understand about High Plains Drifter

*******SPOILERS********
I wasn't really paying extremely close attention at quite a few parts, but I want some things clarified if possible.
What was this talk the hotel manager had with the woman about mines or something? It seemed like a pretty important plot piece, possibly even a plot twist, but i didn't really catch on. did it have to do something with why the 3 guys were terrorizing the town? the woman mentioned peoples lives were lost over it or something.

second question, what was the significance, if any, of making the town of Lago seem like hell, and Clint taking on this whole devil persona thing at the end? Was it just for effect or was there a deeper meaning to it?

last question:
what was the significance of the midget/sheriff making the grave for that sheriff that never had a grave at the end? Why did Clint say the midget already knew what his name was? Is clint supposed to be some ghostly reincarnation of this guy?

please help clarify this stuff for me so i can better appreciate the film, thanks.

2010.

Wonderful flick. I can see why 2001 fans would hate this and tout it as something which pisses all over the original, but Peter Hyams has done a commendable job handling the intricacies of Kubrick's eccentric visions and giving a plausible explanations to the finer points of the predecessor. It is not genuis filmmaking, nor is it a masterpiece, but its right up there with the finest in sci-fi cinema.

If ever there was an unsung and under-appreciated sci-fi flick in the history of Hollywood, this one is arguably pretty close to being a contender to that title. Highly recommended to all sci-fi lovers out there, who will love watching this with an open mind.

Do it. I watched it after a long while myself, and was impressed by the way it still holds up. The effects might look a bit jaded by today's standards though.
