hammerfan - I noticed that as well. I kept getting some horrid documentary because I ordered ONE. Ugh.. Anyway, keeping on topic, the last horror film for me was Midnight Meat Train, and non-horror was Ken Burns' The War |

Hey folks- look a few pages back at Chrono's comments on the movies she watched. It would be cool if everyone wrote a few words about what they thought of the films they watched- just as guidlines for others. Doesn't have to be a 10 page essay- just a few words....

A Mighty Wind
EDIT 'cause Newb asked me to: Another hilarious Christopher Guest mockumentary, though I thought it was a bit of a break from his other films (I've yet to watch Waiting for Guffman). The music is great, the usual cast perfect in their ridiculous but endearing roles (Eugene Levy in particular... it's a shame he'll probably only be remembered for the dull American Pie franchise). |

so i just finished watching Return to sleep away camp
2 words: fucking brutal lolz the first half was horrible and ripped a lot off of the first one, but about half way through the murders it started getting crazy I had to close my eyes at some parts haha despite it ripping off of the first one it was pretty cool considering it brought back angela's cousin and you get to see him all grown up the twist was pretty cool I was actually clueless as to who the killer was for once |

Beauty and the Beast (1946)
Only the 2nd time I've watched this one, but good lord - I love it. Such a gorgeous movie. The acting might be a little bit...uh...theatrical at times, but the visuals are breathtaking. Recommended to anyone interested in watching a truly magical piece of cinema. Alky, Geddy, NE, __V__, Fortunato - you guys seen this one? If not, grab a copy ASAP, you'd all love it. |
Fargo (1996)
I think William Macy also deserved the academy award for his brilliant performance as Jerry Lundegaard. Anyway, at least Frances McDormand & Coen Brothers got that right away. >>: A- |

I absolutely love it. What an enchanting work of art. It's near impossible not to get completely lost in it every time I see it. -------------------------------- M (1931) A Fish Called Wanda (1988) Tekon kinkurīto (Tekkonkinkreet) (2006) Holy smokes, what an adventure. By far one of the best anime films I've ever seen, and definitely one of the most impressive films I've seen this year. Two young boys, orphaned and living on the streets, have grown up protecting the city in which they live. When certain things come to threaten the hold they have on their home, they have to do what it takes to protect it. Combining love, friendship, Yakuza, aliens, kung fu, violence, and dream sequences into a swirling, beautiful mess, this is truly an experience unlike any other. I highly recommend this one, especially to NE, __V__, Return, Alky, Rod, Flayed, and Chrono! |

Return and Fortunado- recommendations noted!
-------------- Saw V (2008) I didn't even like the first one, but some friends wanted to see this. It was boring! It truly was. It was police offers talking on cell phones and looking through files, and several of the murder sequences weren't even shown on screen. Trash. |

I have to admit though, this movie scared me a lot and I'm still unsure why. I was shaking through the first half hour even and that was all recap from the last movie. Really a waste of a few hours though. |

Mindhunters: This was a really entertaining thriller/action movie. It's about a group of FBI agents on a deserted island doing week-end field exercises...until a killer amongst them starts picking them off one by one. You have to check out the death scenes in it...quite creative. Not without its flaws but solid nonetheless 7/10.
Mr. Brooks: Very impressed with this one. It's a serial-killer story with a very human feel to it. It's got a great storyline, actors, production, tension, characters, a nice ending..the whole works. Kevin Costner is great as the lead actor. For the fellas, Demi "MILF" Moore plays the lead detective and I actually didn't hate Dane Cook for once (what's wrong with me?). Definitely worth the rental 8.5/10. Well, I had my night off from horror flicks...I think I'm having withdrawals already |
Mindhunters was a good one. The last movie I saw was John Waters's Female Trouble. It was pretty good. He blended the humor with gore pretty well.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Less Than Zero (1987). - 7.5/10. Coming off of just finishing the novel, by Bret Easton Ellis, this is pretty poor. It'd be nice to see someone do a more faithful adaptation of the novel. Worth seeing just for Robert Downey Jr's performance. |
Quote:
I have to watch this one, dammit! I'm really eager to see what they did with The Informers, especially since previous adaptations of Ellis' work have been pretty faithful, I would say... plus it's Brad Renfro's last performance. |
Henry Poole is Here - a quirky indie flick that felt a bit contrived (and a bit sloppy sentimental) but overall was enjoyable. luke wilson gave a great performance and it was one of those films that generally didn't try to do too much and succeeded in its own modest way

10 minutes of one missed call, and harold and kumar 2.
HaK2:GB entertaining to watch once and even throw it into the dvd collection, to many viewings can be seriousley bad for your health. |

Return to sleep away camp=brutal
very cheesey like the rest, but the kills are much better than before and the twist ending is pretty sweet |
Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008) - 8/10.
Very funny movie. It's nice to see Kevin Smith do a great movie outside of the Askewniverse. |
Aragami - Very fun, but I preferred 2LDK (something about 2 girls fighting to the death appeals to me a bit more, strangely :p). Great project overall. On a side note, Masaya Kato = yummy.

I agree. Smith's best flick since Chasing Amy, in my opinion. |
