How is that? Its one I have been curious about but haven't gotten around to watching yet.

The Wizard of Gore (remake) ~ I thought it was pretty good, very entertaining. Gotta love Crispin Glover and Jeffrey Combs....great casting there.

Mulberry Street ~ better than I ever would have guessed, considering what its about. It was worth a watch.

One of my all-time favorites!

AttilaJ 10-28-2008 10:48 AM

I love Netflix's watch now (and their DVD service of course) as I am catching up on so many movies I've missed.

I just watched Grindhouse: Planet Terror. This was a fun, zombie, gorefest. Loved seeing Tom Savini.

I'm not a fan of handycam movies but I love giant monsters

Wifey watched five minutes, swore and left

Guess she doesn't like the handycams either

Naked Lunch (1991)

Elvis_Christ 10-28-2008 06:55 PM

Watchers

Lost Boys meets Lassie... watched this pretty late last night and was struggling to stay awake. Michael Ironside was great as usual but this flick could've been better.

I've been meaning to give that another spin. Its been awhile. Used to dig it a lot. Have you read the book?

No, actually, but now I'd really like to. I liked the film a lot, but I felt no connection with Bill Lee, and from what I hear the book kind of fills that gap.

Do you like the book?

Painfulldeath 10-28-2008 07:37 PM

Wrong Turn: Decent movie. The death scenes are pretty original to say the least. 6/10.

I did enjoy it. Its a pretty hard read because its really incoherent and out there. I read it as a teenager so I should re-read it sometime I see if I still dig it.

Awww. You didn't even enjoy the creature design? I thought The Creeper was one of the coolest original monsters to come around since Pumpkinhead.

neverending 10-28-2008 09:42 PM

I thought it was typical.

CrimsonFiend138 10-28-2008 10:09 PM

I liked Jeepers creepers(1-2)

Finally saw Cannibal Holocaust for the first time and I must say I really Liked it. Thought it was really crazy and I can see the controversy. I loved it(not in a sick way) and the music was great.

Also saw Night of the Demons(it always caught my attention) and I loved that too. Very fun, creepy and claustrophobic. I loved the music in that also.

Tropic Thunder: Pretty much thought this was hilarious, not as funny as some thought but definately a must see. I love Jack black and Tom Cruise was off the wall VERY FUNNY just to see him lol. I giggle just thinking about it.

The book is easily my favourite thing that Koontz has ever done. It's not great literature, but it's one of the most fun, entertaining books I've ever read.

Never bothered with the movie...looks pretty lame. There's a few sequels out there too, right?

The_Return 10-29-2008 04:20 AM

The Leopard Man

Nobody makes a horror movie like Val Lewton - especially teamed with Tourneur.

I found the characters pretty flat in this one, but otherwise it was just dripping with his signature style and atmosphere. I've been wanting to see this for a long time, and it didn't disappoint at all.

The first killing is one of the most suspenseful moments ever captured on film...scary as hell.

That one is really poorly paced, but the ending is worth it. Been awhile since I watched it, but as I recall the last 10 minutes or so are intense.

I'll have to watch the rest of it tomorrow night. Thanks!

Just watched 30 minutes of The Craft on Netflix. I never realized before how much Fairuza Balk looks like Tim Curry in Rocky Horror Picture Show! :D

Watchers Reborn is the movie that's closest to the book.

Candyman- 7/10

Great death story :)

Pretty good ending too :D

Angra 10-29-2008 01:16 PM

"Cloverfield" 7/10 (second watch)

No question about the huge monster being amazing.

But just like The Blair Witch Project i found both the camera work, the characters and the dialogue terribly annoying. And the story.... not that great.

Masters of Horror: The Washingtonians (Peter Medak)

...the fuck?

I can't say that I wasn't entertained, but this has to be among the most ridiculous things that I've ever seen. Some moments from this are just...beyond description. Pretty weird and really stupid, but what the hell - it's good fun.

Candyman

Well, that was nothing like what I was expecting...and that's a good thing. I was always under the impression that this was a typical slasher flick, so I was never in a huge rush to check it out...was I ever wrong.

This movie is really, really cool. I've always liked Tony Todd (mostly 'cause of the Night of the Living Dead remake), but now I'm convinced he's one of the coolest motherfuckers ever to bloody the screen. I'll take him over Freddy, Jason or Micheal any day of the week.

Only downside: the movie has more endings than fucking Return of the King.

Willard.

Okay, not bad for a remake, and Crispin Glover is really good.

However, one thing that bugged me about the original and this remake is they completely left out all the qualities that made the book so unique and interesting. Both of the movies concentrate on a relatively short period of time that is mainly the last third of the book or so.

In the book, after his mother dies, Willard explores the attic of his house and discovers a big rat head mask. He starts wearing this mask around town at night when he goes on excursions with his rat army, robbing and sometimes killing people. People start reporting a giant rat marauding with an army of rats. The town becomes hysterical. People won't go out at night, insurance salesmen hawk Ratman isurance. It gives the book another dimension the movies totally ignore.

Tenebre 3 ***
Sometimes I got confused because there were so many dark-haired women in this film. The gore wasn't as well done as I expected but it was an 80's movie. Suspenseful but not too scary, IMHO.

Spider
-2 ** I was pretty disappointed in this movie but Ralph Fienes was fairly convincing in his role. I didn't like the ending.

Vodstok 10-30-2008 04:20 AM

Twilight Zone The movie. Still creepy as hell. The last sequence still freaks me out (I was terrified of it as a kid), but the opening short gives me chills knowing Vic Morrow died while making it...

Started Cujo (Bree picked out some good Halloween flicks for this year :D)

Watched the first half of The Happening before going to bed....

Holy jesus monkey christ.... Its like Plan 9 From outer space without the passionate exhuberance of Ed Wood. The village is no longer Shyamalans worst piece of shit, and I found myself thinking it a bit clever after witnessing this...

Mark Wahlberg seriously seems like he is doing a parody in this. Its like his character in the Big Hit, whoch he obviously (nobody did) didnt take too seriously because it was a goofy action caper. But this is "Mr Somber" Shyamalan's turd.
