well, that's one i can avoid then... a movie trying to be like another movie that i hated.. but then again - with a bunch of 'wannabe hip girls' running around immitating juno - why wouldnt a film or to do the same thing.. |
The Spectacular Legacy of the AWA – A good documentary on the rise and fall of the AWA (as well as a primer on the history of modern wrestling). It was funny to see them try to gloss over, or at least downplay, the role Vince McMahon had in dong the AWA in.

Funny Games (remake) ~ never seen the original, but from what I understand its almost identical to the original. I have mixed feelings, I think the performances were good, and I can understand the point the filmmaker is trying to make. And I think most of it worked well, even if it is blatantly manipulative. But then there is one scene, where all of sudden it completely loses me, and there is no emotional impact after that. And that's a shame.
The Lost ~ sometimes surprisingly good, and disturbing.....other times, not so much. Murder Party ~ really a lot of fun. |
Waxwork & Waxwork 2
Lots of fun. The first one was great for trying to be serious and being cheesy. The second one was great for knowing it was cheesy and playing on it. Bruce Campbells infamous rib-cage scene in the second one is hilarious. It was also fun to see Alexander Godunov again. |
Mothman will be proud!Something i'm going to get into now, because it's an amazing movie!
Ong-Bak!I can't wait to watch the new one!IMDB says a new one is in post-production.:D |

I love the first Waxwork, which I thought wasn't trying to be anything but cheesy. :p Must see the second one though. Last watched - The Devil's Advocate. Such an underrated movie, at least to me. |

I forgot how amazing this movie was, definitely in my top 10 |
Traffic (2000)
>>: B+ Breathing Room (2008) http://www.dvdspot.com/covers/1/1129949774.jpg Yeah... it was another poor effort to make something like Saw or Cube. >>: C- |
yesterday :
- our sons birthday party was 13 noisy kids at the theatre - went to see Beverly Hills Chihuahua (my son was dying to see it) I was prepared to gouge out my own eyes - and ended up actually being amused throughout the film .. the kids were glued to the screen (but they were a bunch of little bastards back in the party room) - Blazing Saddles ... still a good film - but it seems pretty dated in parts now (Monty Python and the Holy Grail is by far funnier and still current) - Batman Begins - watched it in hi-def. I like this film more every time i see it. bad casting for the scarecrow though - way too young. |
Yeah, But Cillian Murphy plays a good nutcase, so its forgiveable
Watched Cloverfield. Pretty cool. shorter than I was expecting, and It bugs me that the movie ended with pretty much nothing answered, but i understand both by the type of movie it was, and really for writers, leaving stuff out and getting people guessing is half the fun. Some great "Holy Shit" moments. Especially Hud's moment in central park. Look to the left, look to the right, look up... |

huge fucking shame you didnt see it in the theatre first |

no - seriously - the 'bigness' had to be seen on the big screen - it put you right in the movie with the actors .. i'd never experienced anything before or since like that ... i normally sit outwardly unaffected by all movies - but that one had me going 'holy shit !!' outloud several times |
|
Spiral ~ liked it far more than I expected to
And also Return of the Living Dead |

After one viewing, i was already having "Cloverfield" dreams at night (who knew i had apoll in my backyard? I did in the dream....) I understand what you are getting at, and I love seeing movies in the theater because Ilove the overall experience, but I never have a hard time being completely absorbe din anythign that is even remotely interesting :D |
i dont mean just getting aborbed in .. but it was a giant monster movie - where you look up ... you know ?
you were actually viewing the creature from the same perspective as the characters .. it really adds a crucial dimention to the movie ... specifically the scene where they come out of the underground and get caught between the creature in the army - man i was there - right in the middle of it ... it felt physical ... as you can tell, this movie impressed the hell out of me. I've since seen it on the home theatre and although that's the next best way to see it - it still lost a lot of the impact i experinced in the theatre. |
Poseidon..

So has anyone caught Appaloosa yet?

The Killing (1956)

I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK (2006)
A BIG break from Chan-wook Park's other films, but I found this one strangely touching. It's a very bizarre film, but the story and the actors (all great) draw you in rather quickly. |
Iron Man - 7/10
Cool Marvel flix. Good acting, good direction, and killer CGI. I look forward to seeing the sequel. |
WAR and then Iron Man.Still love Iron Man just as much.Thought WAR was alright.

Mirrors

The Midnight Meat Train..7/10
could have been more fleshed out but still better than a lot of movies that made it to the big screen. a couple of really good gore scenes |
Alien From LA.
one of the worst 'movies' i've seen in my life. horrible in every conceivable way. models + acting = bad |

The Cell
Been wanting to see this one for awhile...didn't disappoint. The plot was pretty pointless, but the visuals were stunning and D'Onofrio was fantastic. |
The Mist- 8/10
.....Still speechless. |
