[REC]
Jesus...this is the first movie in a very, very long time to genuinely scare me. It's a great horror movie right from the start, but the last 15 minutes or so just take it a whole other level. Doesn't really break much new ground, but they pull it off so incredibly well that it seems really fresh. If any of you guys haven't seen this yet...track it down. Right now. |

i was incredibly impressed with that one. ---------------------------------- the midnight meat train (2008) good fun. nothing mindblowing, but i had a good time watching it. i was afraid it was going to be a bit of an eye-roller, but it manages to stay intense while not taking itself too seriously. |
Shrek the Third = Shrek the Turd.

Night of the Demons III
pretty cheesy, lot's of boobs, kind of sucked but still o.k fun at midnight in October. 5.5/10 |
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)
>>: B+ Chemical Wedding (2008) http://plutonica.net/blog/wp-content...er-116x150.jpg The Brilliant chemist & Rocket fuel inventor Jack Parsons was a become a fanatical believer in the magic of Aleister Crowley...the aging occultist who consider himself The Beast incarnate. Weirdly funny. But I greatly pleased with the soundtracks from Bruce Dickinson & Iron Maiden. >>: C The Babysitters (2007) http://www.dvdspot.com/covers/1/1179635211.jpg >>: C+ |

Night of the Living Dead (1990)
Re-watched this so I could write my blurb for the Top 100...forgot just how much fun it was. Top-of-the-line remake, for sure. |
Spartacus
History of the World Part I Monty Python's The Meaning of Life |
Equinox
This one kicks off my October viewing, good movie, great introduction from Ackerman. Anybody who hasn't seen it should check it out, it's not the best movie out there but there's some good stop-motion creatures and of course all the little things that influenced Evil Dead. |
Halloween
The Burning Saw III all on television yesterday... I love October:D |
Blue Velvet.
Pink Flamingos. |
Drillbit Taylor
Pretty funny. Way better than I expected. |
Rolling Thunder
My little brother has been bugging me to see this one for a long time now and after watching the trailer online I just had to see it... but it's not on DVD (at least not from Netflix) but it was available as VOD from Netflix - did it for first time. Very cool service and the film is FUCKING AWESOME! "you learn to love the rope" 8.5/10 |

Last movie finished was Progeny by the creators of Re-Animator. Good but not great; entertaining but not thrilling. Today started Blame, from the 3-disc collection Six Films To Keep You Awake, the Spanish version of our Masters Of Horror if I understood my Fangoria correctly. So far so good.

Midnight Meat Train.
Really, after all the hype I was disappointed. If all you want is blood and gore, you'll like it. The story, ultimately is predictable. |
The Great Rock N' Roll Swindle.
|
Nightbreed
Only my 2nd viewing, but I love this movie. Why doesn't David Cronenberg act more often? |

I thought he made a fantastic villain...he was low-key and underplayed for sure - and he sure wont be winning any acting Oscars, this I realize - but I loved his character. Very menacing in a subtle kind of way. You've got to admit his mask was pretty badass though, right? :p |
Run Fatboy, Run
A cliche-filled rom-com/sports-com with cheap sit-com beats, gross-out gags, sappy crap and odd bits here and there. It is 100% predictable, but is saved by the perormances and the weird little bits of writing. Simon Pegg is simply charming. Thandie Newton is a stunner, Hank Azaria is a douchebag and Dylan Moran is awesome as the "kooky friend". No where near great, but a fun little film. 6.9/10 (not quite a full 7) |
Blindness (2008)
Perhaps the most under-appreciated film of the year, and it just opened last night. A majority of the reviews are scathingly negative, and with no real reason behind them. The directing is superb; the camera work and cinematography are masterful. The soundtrack is simple, yet highly effective. The acting, while not entirely award-caliber, is very close to it. And the social relevance and messages backing this film? Incredible. Just incredible. I loved every second of it. As disturbing, and disgusting, and vile, and rotten, and inhumane, and immoral, and every other adjective and word like these, as it is... I loved it. I think the fact that it was so disturbing turned off a lot of critics. But that was the point. It moved me. I really do think it's a modern Salo: 120 Days of Sodom. |
Iron Man...

Los Tres Entierros de Melquiades Estrada
I could just write the English title, but for some reason I like it better in Spanish. Beautiful movie too. |
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist
Um...Nick? Norah? Yeah, I think your Juno is showing. Might want to get that looked at guys. I didn't go into this expecting much, but my girlfriend wanted to see and and I thought it could be kind of cute - it isn't. The leads have zero chemistry, the humor relies pretty much solely on stale, running gags and the plot was just an absolute mess. It's like they had 2-3 different stories to tell and didn't know where to go with any f them...but shot the movie anyway. Not a good movie in any way. It really, really wants to be Juno, but fails miserably. |
