Not bad, haven't watched this in long time, enjoyed more this time around

Much maligned movie that I think has more merits than flaws. it was "over studioed", the script was through more rewrites than i have ever heard of, and they really settled on something no one was happy with, but the cast was solid, the atmosphere was good, and David Fincher is a damn fine filmmaker.

I can say the same for the fourth one as well. Hated it when i first watched, watched a couple of years later and enjoyed much more. No idea why

Abominus 09-16-2008 12:53 PM

Watched There Will be Blood last night. Great film, a lot slower than I was expecting though. Served me well, well I was painting :)

Wasn't there talks between Fincher and another film co. re-editing it?

Anyway, the Big Scene at the end, along with the music score, I freely admit to tearing up at that.

I have no idea, would not doubt it though.

Same here. You can't help but feel some relief that the crap is finally over for her, and she gets to die with a clean conscience.

Then they made ressurection....

I've been sick laying on the couch, so I have been watching ALOT of TV.

Legally Blond- In my next life I want to be Elle Woods
Legally Blond 2- not as good as the first, but still a cute movie

The Cell- I am always awed by the visuals of this movie. Blown Away

The Holiday- I have watched this movie so many times out of boredom that I am starting to like it.

L.A. Confidential- pretty good. It surprised me actually, that I enjoyed it.

The Bone Collector- very good

I like Ressurection, just fine, as a sci-fi action movie. As part of the Alien series, it is nonsensical crap.

BURN AFTER READING

Not as funny as The Big Lebowski ...but funnier than Lady Killers

Clooney & Pitt are hysterical.....actually the whole cast is spot on.

Devil-Hunter 09-17-2008 07:33 AM

Last movie I watched was The Dark knight.

Waking Life
philosophy in film should be portrayed through actions and symbolism, not countless boring lectures.

Ack! Finally. So tired of having people tell me that I just "didn't get it" or that I didn't really give it a chance because I fell asleep after 30 minutes.

The Mothman 09-17-2008 10:24 AM

I stopped half way through and turned on Hard Boiled to wake myself up. its got some incredible art direction, but it felt like someone was preaching their beliefs to me the entire time.

Actually, I was a bit skeptical about this one after the Coen's incredibly excellent No Country For Old Men, and thought it would take itself way too seriously.

Trying out tacky humor was a bit of a diversion, specially after the way their last one went. But now, I am reassured. Definitely gonna catch this one asap.

And, do you mean Ladykillers as in the original, or the remake? I thought the remake was a largely hit-and-miss movie. I didnt like it that much.

Otis

I thought this was pretty average after all the postive reviews I'd read. Entertaining enough but nothing special.

Abominus 09-18-2008 06:18 AM

I picked up a $10 three pack and watched through Candyman 2, The Fog (original) and Terror Train (David Copperfield as the magician = win!)

The Mothman 09-18-2008 06:32 AM

I think you want the recent acquisitions thread.

watched The warriors with a bunch of people, they dug it.

The_Return 09-18-2008 08:20 AM

Stories of Lost Souls

Pretty cool little collection of short films; I really enjoyed it. A few of them were kind of lame, but overall I was impressed. Worth checking out for sure.

Abominus 09-18-2008 08:39 AM

It was a recent aquisition, but also my most recently watched movies, can't it be both? :(

Hillary Scotts Dirty Brazilian Vacation

urgeok2 09-18-2008 09:00 AM

CJ7 - if you dont like stephen chow (kung fu hustle, shaolin soccer) you wont like this one.

my kid LOVED it - i was entertained by it ... its basically ET but with a lot of stephen chow's signature touches.

cliches with a twist. some very funny moments, some very Disney moments...

i think most parents will dismiss it - but for anyone that gets a kick out of Stephen Chow's vision - they should find things to appreciate in this film.
