I' playing, Amnesia, Dead Space and Minecraft :p

Rotting Zombie 01-09-2012 07:35 PM

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

ChronoGrl 01-10-2012 08:44 AM

Alan Wake on the 360.

I really shouldn't listen to Zero Punctuation's reviews before planing a game because I can't get his quibbles and complaints out of my head...
  • Alan's narrative is awful and annoying (he speaks as though I'm the most retarded audience member on Retarded Audience Member Movie Day)
  • Fighting is repetitive
  • There isn't a whole lot of "surprise" factor because all of the Bads announce themselves before they attack ("HEY! I'M OVER HERE!")
  • The characters are interesting, but I'm too busy running around in the woods to really engage them

It's atmospheric and creepy, but I guess I wish it was more open and less linear. Good concept, but seems thin to me.

"Saints Row - the third" PS3

Great fun, BUT...

The aiming system is either fucked or i just haven't figured it out yet? Naah, that can't be it.

Sistinas666 01-11-2012 01:56 PM

I am currently revisiting Dead Rising 2, what a fun game!

I've had the new Assassins Creed game since christmas but still haven't tried it...I need to get on that one.....

Just nabbed a copy of that for the PC. I've noticed a few games have had shitty aiming recently... it's like being back in 1995 or something :D

---------

Played some Call Of Duty: MW3 last night pretty good shit although I have to have the graphic settings fairly low so I can run it properly. Won't be long till my PC will need an upgrade to play games :(

Seriously, WHER THE FUCK IS THE AUTO AIM FUNCTION!!!

Doesn't make sense it isn't there when it's desperately needed in every mission you do. Too many enemies. Impossible to do without cheating. I've just spend the first 3 days buyng every factory and store en the city. Very peaceful way of playing such a game. NOT what i had in mind.

But now when all is bought i guess it's ass kicking time. What else is there to do?..

cheebacheeba 01-13-2012 05:53 AM

Just tried playing RAGE.
Nice looking game really...and maybe I'm being a bit judgmental here, but I just don't really like the feel of it.
I don't like the way your character and the enemies move around.
Reminds me of the same issues I had with Resistance 2, it felt like a twitch shooter.
It looked like it should have had atmosphere, yet seemed lacking of it.
I don't know, I've barely even played much of this game and I just don't think I'm going to...I played through bulletstorm, and this game reminded me of it, though I actually liked bulletstorm.
Quake 4, Doom 3, ID has just dropped the ball if you ask me.

Anthropophagus 01-14-2012 03:45 AM

You have said the same things that irked me with Rage.

Yes,it looks great but like you said cheebacheeba,it just doesn't `feel` right. The moving from one area of the game to the next and then go back again doesn't sit right with me.
The characters all feel strange too,i really don't care for anyone in the game,i just wanted it to be over.

I played for a few hours then couldn't be bothered with it any more,so i exchanged it for Battlefield 3.

Uncharted 3

Man these games tell a hell of a story but to be honest, 3 feels a little lost to me. There's a big ordeal with modern day pirates that derails the story a bit and like the first game there's too many ridiculous gun battles with hordes of armored enemies. That said, the chase scenes are an awesome addition and exciting as hell to play even if they remind me a little bit of the original Crash Bandicoot. So far I still think 2 was my favorite (the writing in 2 and 3 is incredible though and the dialogue can be funny as hell) but that may change as I get further into 3.

Elvis_Christ 01-14-2012 02:26 PM

Tweaked the graphic setting for Call Of Duty: MW3 and had a decent blast on it last night. Great fun. Lots of people don't seem into it but as a casual gamer I reckon it's alright. I've been playing Operation Flashpoint: Red River when I'm in the mood for more of a realistic/tactical combat simulation. PC is definitely the best platform for FPS games. I don't get into the controls on consoles.

Started out on this and haven't found it to bad but yeah I'm going to have to go buy factories and stores to avoid the cops. This just makes it more like GTA than the action game I was expecting.

Arioch 01-15-2012 10:22 AM

Being on xmas break ive been going back and trying for platinum trophies on the last years games while still playing Arkham City.

Yes I have it-I haven't played much of it though cos the point and click gameplay wasn't really what I was in the mood for at the time I played it.

"Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls" PS3

A totally old school dungeons and dragons game.

Takes me back to the beginning of the 90s. Good fun.

I have a few of the original Wizardry games I'll have to check it out-didn't know they made any for the PS3. I guess I should buy one since it's supposed to be a HUGE improvement on the PS2.

Just a warning.

After you've purchased the full game they want you to spend more money on it. I hate those kind of "cheap downloads". If you want more dungeons, weapons and enemies you can have it. If you pay more money. My ass..

Try out the free demo first.

Thanks for the warning-I'm not too keen on paying for a game more than once I think it's ripping people off so if I like the demo I may buy it but I won't shell out for any extensions of the game. If we pay for thews extras we are only encouraging the company to do it with more games so there's no way I'd do it.

My thoughts excatly.

Sure it has been fun playing mostly due to the nostalgy level. But they should never try to make it more than that. Just an ol school game experience, that's all. It can never become more than that.

Elvis_Christ 02-05-2012 12:53 AM

L.A Noire

The PC version is an unplayable PIECE OF SHIT. Hopefully there will be a patch I was looking forward to playing this but it's slow and laggy even on high end systems. Sick of companies ripping people off with games full of problems. This shouldn't have been released in this state.

Anthropophagus 02-05-2012 10:03 AM

Anyone played Uncharted 3 yet and what are your thoughts.I have just finished part two and although very linear i loved it.?

The console version isnt much better. It's not that laggy but boring as hell.

Amen to that, sista!

marija22 02-17-2012 01:39 PM

Right now I'm hooked on these games:
Dead Space
Rule of Rose
Resident Evil 4
Siren
Silent Hill 2
Amnesia:The Dark Descent
Fatal Frame Serias

marija22 02-17-2012 01:47 PM

I forgot to ask, what you think about "Fatal Frame Serias"?

cheebacheeba 02-17-2012 02:29 PM

I started playing "Heavy Rain" the other day, have been looking forward to it.
I haven't had time to progress very far...
(only to the first scene in the "two years later" part, if that means anything to those that have played it)
...though what I've seen so far is impressive.
A strong, story/dialogue driven game, a lot like playing through a movie.
Graphically quite outstanding too.
I'm looking forward to the *actual* storyline emerging and getting right into this one. From what I've seen, it's going to be a very atmospheric game.

QuanticDream, they have a knack for making games like this...they don't feel entirely like a conventional game experience, though they don't lack entertainment value whatsoever.
Ever since Omnikron (The Nomad Soul) I've followed their work and enjoyed everything they've bought out.
I wish more games of this quality would come out.

The Villain 02-17-2012 03:53 PM

Started playing Skyrim. I havent played very much but it's incredible. If i didnt have a job i'd probably play all day. In fact i have off on Monday...I think i know what i'm gonna do.

Despare 02-17-2012 09:57 PM

UFC Undisputed 3

I like the way the submission system WORKS this year but now it takes a little away from the experience as far as immersion goes. Ah well, it's still fun and the career mode is a blast, damn fine production values here.

Elvis_Christ 02-17-2012 11:21 PM

Finally got round to GTA IV. Really like it so far.

horrorzack 02-18-2012 12:12 AM

Minecraft.......

cheebacheeba 02-18-2012 12:12 AM

Have you done the bank robbery mission yet Elvis? (Probably not)
You should like it.

The expansion pack #1 "The Lost and the Damned" is probably something you'll quite like as a SOA fan.
The second one "Ballad of Gay Tony" was a lot of fun, more along the lines of GTA:SA and Vice City.
- Both actually take place at the same time/during GTA4, it's great to get to see the other side of scenes of the game.

Loved them. Especially 1 and 3.

By the way, how the hell can you play that many games at the same time??

cheebacheeba 02-24-2012 02:34 PM

Just played a demo of "Binary Domain" on ps3.
Not sure if it's on 360?
Either way fucking cool looking game...it's like elements of Terminator, MGS and Gears thrown into one shooter.
It's squad based, or at least the part I played was - though your team moves around on their own quite well and seems more competent than annoying.
Kind of actually feels like what the last Terminator game should have...?

Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qp1SGtosGI0

But yeah I'm convinced. Gonna grab this one.

Naa..

I grabbed "Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning" instead.

cheebacheeba 02-24-2012 08:28 PM

Yep, got that one already.
Haven't really got into it yet, I'm a game at a time guy.
Right now I'm "playing" through Heavy Rain.

Angra 02-25-2012 02:11 AM

That's an amazing game as well.

Just a shame i was so incredibly bad at it. All the good guys died in my version.

Sistinas666 03-02-2012 04:38 AM

I have a question for anyone who has played Mortal Combat 9. I got the Freddy Krueger expansion but I can't figure out how to play with him. Do I have to beat the game to unlock him and if so what difficulty level is required?

*EDIT....I figured it out. Its not as much fun to play as Freddy as I had hoped and whats with gloves on both hands?

cheebacheeba 03-02-2012 03:22 PM

Quote:

The first set of endings I got
*Spoiler*
The girl died.
The son died.
The father hung himself in his cell.
The agent died in a fight in the junkyard, and is now some entity in the shades.
The former victims mother who survived the car trap came back, having figured out who the killer was, and shot him in the head.

So yeah I didn't do all that well either.
There is a feature in the game though that lets you go back and resume play from any level, so I've since completed it with various endings.
I never played right through Fahrenheit/indigo prophecy but I've always been a fan. I might start playing that again now.
