that's exciting, because i've been wanting to see it.

I really like the way some Asian horror really gets into the philosophy, and the way strange events are related to a character's psyche. Some people hate Asian horror for just that reason. For me it's a welcome change from the mindlessness of a lot of American horror. I also like the way they often focus on women and women's issues.

On top of that, this film uses color is a very creative manner and has great special effects- not to mention Chinese zombies.

At one point I was feeling like it was getting a little long but not five minutes later it had pulled me back in for an emotional climax and a last minute twist I never saw coming.

Really a fantastic movie.

"Death Race"

Loud, violent, gory, action packed and almost completly plotless.......I LOVED IT!!

The Mothman 08-27-2008 03:43 PM

hellfire1 08-27-2008 06:29 PM

An American Crime
All the Boys Love Mandy Lane... again. Still one of my favorites, even after repeated viewings.

novakru 08-27-2008 06:34 PM

Breaking and Entering: hmm, well-if I had watched the entire movie I would have a better explaination of what it was like.

I am just having a hard time watching anything lately.

No opinion on this movie.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

I enjoyed it this time more than any other - looks amazing in hi-def ... I got an all new appreciation for the sets and locations ... gorgeous.

Malena.

This is such a beautiful, heart-warming and touching experience. Anyone who compares this to Summer of '42 needs to see it first, because Malena is a notch above. It makes you go through a range of emotions - innocence, sensuality, happiness, pain, sorrow, rage...the list is endless. It is a coming-of-age movie yes, but it also has so many other underlying currents riding along that it touches and grips you, and doesn't let go.

And of course, the stunningly beautiful goddess, Monica Bellucci, whom I absolutely adore. She conveys so much with her silence and downcast eyes, its a wonder how this magnificent lady hasn't had more character-driven roles in her career yet.

The direction and cinematography are gorgeous, but watch the movie for Monica, her simplicity, and her amazing chemistry with the boy.

Recommended as a must-watch for all lovers of finesse in cinema.

believe me - i'm old enough to remember clearly when it happened - i was shocked and felt bad ..

but being an old guy (like Newb) we're sadly drawn to those easy jokes ...

at least i'm not at the point where i'm telling waitresses they're cute - and "if i was only 50 years younger !!' :)
