Finished THE DELIGHT OF GREAT BOOKS, John Erskine's 1916 masterpiece of literary criticism and forerunner of Clifton Fadiman's THE LIFETIME READING PROGRAM. Hope to get to the latter later this year.
Think I'll start John Christopher's THE RAGGED EDGE tonignt before turning out the lights. |
"1Q84 - book 2" by Murakami.
Let there be action. |

I just finished Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill. It's not amazing or anything but a solid ghost story.
At home i'm still reading Under The Dome by Stephen King. On my phone i'm reading The Drawing of The Three by Stephen King and at work on my lunch break i'm going to start reading The Last Apprentice: Rage of The Fallen |
Just finished "Monsters in the Movies" by the great John Landis. OK its more pictures than words, but still an amazing commentary on the greatest ever creature flicks...

I saw that at Barnes and Noble and thought it looked pretty good.

Finally finished Watchers by Dean Koontz. I began really loving the setup of the book, and then later on felt like some parts were trite and sappy, particularly the love story and the center of the book. Also felt like some parts were rather generic. However, by the end, I was won over by the story of an intelligent dog and the loyalty he both exhibited and inspired. I actually woke up at 4 in the morning seized by the compulsion to FINISH THE BOOK. Even though I knew exactly what was going to happen and how everything was going to play out, I was very satisfied that it followed the course.
BOTTOM LINE: Would I recommend this book? Yes. |

It was a bit, but there were other qualities that made up for it. This is not heavy-duty stuff, or challenging, but a decent page turner.

Currently reading Nick Cave's first book, And the Ass Saw the Angel.

The Child Thief
I am reading The Child Thief by Brom. Its a very interesting dark version of Peter Pan.
|
Stephen King's The Long Walk
|
Naziploitation! The Nazi Image In Low-Brow Cinema And Culture.
Unfortunately, it's heavy on psycho-babble and way too short on actual film discussion. Although I did find out about a new film, Outpost (2008) while reading it, which I liked very much, so that's a plus. |
just finished Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk, i highly recommend it.

Mine looks more like this: http://www.google.com/products/catal...ed=0CF4Q8wIwAA
Its an omnibus of four Richard Bachman books. |
Finished this:
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/z...RaggedEdge.jpg Exciting and realistic story about the aftermath of a catastrophic earthquake, or quakes rather, that literally tore the Earth apart. Recommended, just wish it had a better cover than this, one of the most blah I've ever seen. Started this: http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/z...stoneKelly.jpg One of my favorite movies as a kid (probably still is, I just haven't seen it since its initial release) and one of Clint Walker's best. Book should be even better. Fisher, by the way, is also Will Henry. |

Scariest, Freakiest Book I've read in a long time
My friend is working on prepping a new movie called "Seven-X" It's based on a book that is absolutely terrifying. I freaked out about ten times when reading it and I can't wait to see the movie.
He said you can get some Limited Edition Copies of the book here: SEVEN-X I guess the author already sold the movie rights and won't release a published version to the public until after the film is cast. Rumors have some top actors up for roles. There is a facebook page too. Good luck finishing the book. Two of my friends freaked out before they could finish. Ha ha. |
Mmmh hm...

DEPRAVED by Bryan Smith. So much gore and evil. I need more. Anyone out there like Bryan Smith's works, could you turn me on to other novels in this genre with Smith's ability to scare you and gross you out at the same time?

The last book I read was Brian Keene and Nick Mamatas' The Damned Highway. Hunter Thompson vs. Cthulhu. Totally badass and a perfect companion to Mamatas' very cool Move Underground. Also, Laura Lee Bahr's Haunt. My reactions to this book: http://bizarrocentral.com/2012/02/20...-bizarro-noir/
