I got the "Monster Kid Home Movies" DVD yesterday--it arrived real fast, within just a couple of days of ordering the darn thing. And it's good.......especially all the commentaries from the people who made the films, all now in their forties, fifties and sixties. Watching the home movies of monster fans is just about the strangest thing! I laughed out loud quite a few times while checking these things out.

She uses a body double? ...unfortunate.

Brandon Lee has some great lines in that movie, the video game reference always got a chuckle out of me.

ORDERED:
Identity (loved it.)
Kingdom of Heaven (Dir. Cut)
Beowulf & Grendel

BOUGHT: Like 3$ each.
Sleepaway Camp 3
Ginger Snaps 2

Hollow Man II 9.99$

ItsAlive75 05-25-2006 03:50 PM

Hostel, only cuz I couldn't burn it off Netflix.

On that note, I hate that these new movies won't let you burn em', but at the same time... that's how they're making their money. Nobody goes to theatres anymore, so the profit comes from DVD sales. It makes sense, but I guess I'm just frustrated by it.

Dolls
Nightbreed

And two signed and numbered lithoghraphs by Basil Gogos(London After Midnight and Phantom of the Opera)....awesome.

filmmaker2 05-26-2006 08:55 AM

Dude, Gogos is awesome.

filmmaker2 05-26-2006 09:01 AM

I recently got a bunch of Famous Monsters issues with Gogos covers...here's my favorite of the FM covers...

urgeok 05-26-2006 02:05 PM

i dont have any of those magazines but i do have a lot of Warren mags (Creepy, vampirella, etc)

today in the mail : Futurama for x-box)

Elvis_Christ 05-26-2006 06:36 PM

I've got a couple of issues of FM. I never seem to strike them cheap so I just pick them up when there a reasonable price. I've got a few issues of Vampirella, Errie and Creepy. The Vengeance of Vampirella is probably my favorite comic at the moment.

Today I got a bunch of B-grade sci-fi/horror flicks on VHS (giving Attack of the Giant Leeches a spin as I type) and a few issues of Cinefantastique.

filmmaker2 05-26-2006 07:40 PM

I'm a weird collector when it comes to Warren magazines...I don't have a lot of them, just a little box with "some" of them (like 20 or so), and I only have one in really nice condition. I prefer to look for really old, beat up issues, because they are a lot cheaper, and because they have a lot of character...I feel like they've been around because they obviously have ! ;)

Elvis_Christ 05-26-2006 08:23 PM

Its criminal what people try and charge for FM and even Fangoria issues. FM is pretty hard to come across over here but you still run into the odd stash of them in junk stores. But you mainly have to rely on online auctions to pick them up which means inflated prices.

filmmaker2 05-26-2006 11:32 PM

The thing with those FM issues, though, actually any of the Warren publications, is that they're newsprint, and that stuff is just starting to crumble, a lot of it...I'm surprised sometimes that these things haven't just turned to dust (I have a couple that are almost reduced to little crumbs, they've just turned brown and brittle!).

Yeah, the FMs are all expensive, the original run issues are all over twenty years old, older the farther back you go. I love those things, though. Sometimes I'll buy them and read them for a while and then mail them to someone far, far away, to sort of spread the love, baby.

joshaube 05-27-2006 07:55 AM

Reeker finally came, ordered it a while back. Looks rather good, anyone seen it? Watching it tonight. I heard it was a rip-off of the equally good-looking Dead End. Anyone see that? I might order it.

I dont know about Reeker, but I highly recomend Dead End. If you dont like movies with alot of dialogue it might not be your bag, but I thought it was great. Easily one of the best horror movies of the last few years.

The_Return 05-27-2006 10:37 AM

I just picked up the 2 disc Vista Series edition of Unbreakable. I saw part of this when it first came out and I enjoyed it, but I never got to see the whole thing.

not a bad movie - Robards was great - but this could be done so much more effectively to capture the true atmosphere of the book.
(which is my favorite book of all times)

the movie missed on 90% of the major themes..

definately a movie to be a good choice for a remake if any

Jacob Singer 05-28-2006 04:28 AM

The Shining, I'm tired of my old vhs so I get it on dvd. Now I can watch it on english (the voices on spanish are pure shit):D

That's a great set. Jungle Holocaust is good, and 'Massacre' is funny as hell, although the main character is a total Bruce Campbell wannabe.

alkytrio666 05-29-2006 11:22 AM

I just picked up Pulp Fiction 2-disc for $10. Whadda steal.

ItsAlive75 05-29-2006 12:23 PM
