So now I have a choice of anything thats on either the US or UK netflix at the press of a button.

I guess I hate you as much as all the Americans with their fancy netflix then. :p

Didn't know you could do that though, so thanks for the heads up... Will have to have a look into it.

What are you watching your Netflix through? (PC/Xbox etc).

Has it come to PS3 yet? I've heard that it would.

And is it possible to adjust your computer to use american DSN settings?

It is easiest on PC as you can use something like DNS Jumper to adjust your settings in one click..

Just google what settings are still working and Bingo. The US version is such much better. Weirdly - there are more Brit TV shows on the American Netflix that I wanted to watch than on the UK one..

Awsome. Thanks man!!

My favorite two Netflix gems of late have been:

Lovely Molly: One of the better "slow burn" films I've seen in a long time.
Apartment 143: A rather unique take on the "paranormal activity" type film.

Both films are well acted and well directed. Very much worth the time.

hammerfan 10-25-2012 06:43 PM

Vanishing on 7th Street

Stars Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton, and John Leguizamo. Full of atmosphere, interesting story, not your cookie-cutter Hollywood ending. Don't expect a lot of action or excitement. Just a well-told story. Except that it never says why this happened. But, I definitely recommend it.

Grave Encounters. It's a paranormal activity type movies but it's about a "ghost hunters" kinda crew who really end up in a haunted hospital. Ending was kinda lame and the movie kinda dragged but it had some pretty good suspense and some good jump scenes. I say maybe a 7 out of a 10. I haven't really seen anything else on there that's worth mentioning.

Ice Pik 11-03-2012 08:35 PM

So I've posted this^ before i really combed the thread. Made me think of a few others.

Gacy house - another paranormal activity type movies but it was alright. Nothing to great but had a few scenes that made you want more.

Absenti (spelling?) - Kinda cool movie overall and the spin on the children story is what kinda made me like it. thought that was kinda original.

Necromentia (spelling?) - I found that on redbox. Not really a 10 movie but really weird and strange and idk. Wasn't really scary but idk just one of those movies you want to watch once and make other people watch it to see their expressions. I still have the "Hi kids, I'm Mr. Skinny" image in my head.

Ditto, liked it too.

hammerfan 11-16-2012 03:29 AM

Not horror, but had to tell you guys about it.

Just watched a movie called The Answer Man. What a lovely, charming story! I really liked it. Of course, I'm a big fan of Jeff Daniels, so that probably helped. But, I enjoyed the efforts of all the actors. Look for my friend Thomas Roy as Chris's alcoholic father.

I feel inclined to inform you all that The Inkeepers is available on Instant and is a must-see. I recommend a back-to-back screening of that and House of the Devil.

Ti West is a brilliant director.

Thanks for the rec! I'll add it to the queue.

BTW, if you like Jeff Daniels, he's also in Paper Man, which is available on Instant as well. Haven't watched it yet, but looks like it has potential.

If it's the one about the college student taking a babysitting job, yes, I saw it a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't too bad.

LOL - Mark and I have an unspoken rule that we have to start movie-watching by 8:00 in the evening the latest (especially on school nights) because one of us always falls asleep. :o

newb 12-14-2012 09:02 AM

If you're in a silly mood this one will be worth a watch

kind of Mel Brooks/Airplane type but much much cruder

laugh out loud funny

Elvis_Christ 12-14-2012 11:31 AM

Haha will have to check that one out.

I've watched quite a few movies on Netflix that I liked...

Human atrocity, redneck/cannibal, slasher:
Ils (Them)
May
Audition
V/H/S
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer
Deranged
The Woman
Sheitan
Bedevilled
I Spit on Your Grave (original)
The Human Centipede
Irreversible

American/English gothic, ghosts/supernatural, pagan/occult, psychological:
Session 9
Lovely Molly
Antichrist
A Tale of Two Sisters
The Sentinel
House of the Devil
Pulse

Splatter, zombie, body horror, monsters, sci-fi:
Re-Animator
Hellraiser
Altered
Slither
Shiver
Piranha 3D
Dead Snow

Giallo:
Bay of Blood
Black Sabbath (although it's the U.S. version with the lame plot changes, not the Italian version)

Classics, Pseudo-classics:
Nosferatu
Call of Cthulu

I also have a ton in my Instant Queue that look promising. Other than the TV shows The Killing and Breaking Bad, I don't use Netflix for anything but horror movies, and I'm pleasantly surprised at how much good stuff they have.

I love Session 9! I just showed it to a friend the other day. I forgot how slowly it's paced--she was falling asleep.

Anyone else been watching their original series "House of Cards"? I've been enjoying it. But then, I enjoy just about anything Kevin Spacey does!

I need to get on that one. I've been hearing a lot about it.

Ice Pik 02-22-2013 07:49 PM

I find most of the most watched and netflix gems films to be perverted and just tastless. I guess I'm just more into a suspenseful horror film.

Finished it last night. Really looking forward to the next season! I highly recommend it, fortunato.

I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but one movie on Netflix is Rumpelstiltskin. I know this movie is pretty cheesy, but I actually liked it. I thought it was pretty funny and I can never pass up the mythological figure in the "Modern World" genre. Just a note, they do rotate films, so some of these films can be rotated out (although many of them won't be). They have quite a few classic horror movies on Netflix too.

Awesome list! I second the following films:

Human Centipede
Audition
Irreversible
Antichrist
Slither
Reanimator

Then, check these ones out if you haven't seen them yet:

Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead
Land of the Dead
Lockdown
Death by Design
H.H. Holmes: America's First Serial Killer
Oddities
Deathwish 2
Silent House
Hell
DMT: The Spirit Molecule
American Horror Story
The Evil Dead
Dead Girl

Been rewatching Mad Men lately on Netflix Instant - Definitely recommended. Excited to see American Horror Story on Instant as well - I might need to rewatch it after I go through Mad Men.
