Nothing official yet but...

The latest rumor abuzz for Batman 3 is that the makers (not sure if it includes Nolan or not), especially David Goyer, are seriously considering Hugo Strange.

Strange might be joined by one more anti-Batman character, both of whom will be finalised by Halloween.

If I get any sort of confirmation on this, you will be first to know.

Hmm...haven't seen him in a non-redneck role yet.

But he suits Strange's character to a T.

Well he doesn't talk like Spaulding. But I don't know if he can do a Hugo Strange voice.

The Dark Knight” staged a comeback Saturday to emerge victorious for the fourth straight frame, while some surprisingly durable holdovers continued to find traction in the middle of the top 10 pack.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ superhero sequel lost to “Pineapple Express” on Friday by a narrow $7.9 million to $7.6 million margin. But on Saturday it surged ahead of Sony’s stoner comedy, winning the day with $10.5 million vs. $7.6 million. Combined with a slightly higher Sunday estimate, it ended up comfortably in the top spot with $26 million.

Christian Bale and Heath Ledger starrer has now cumed $441.5 million, surpassing “Shrek 2” as the third highest domestic grosser of all time. It’s expected to beat “Star Wars’ ” $461 million total in the next week before finally settling at No. 2, behind “Titanic.”

Similarly, Imax appears to have been an extra boost for “The Dark Knight.” Large-format screens have accounted for $31 million of pic’s cume so far. This weekend, “Dark Knight” on Imax fell only 19%, substantially less than at standard-size playdates.

It should be Black Mask. He's an enemy to both Bruce Wayne and Batman.

Given the atmosphere Nolan has created in his first two movies, I say she will be very much intimidating.

Rumor has it that Nolan is looking for strong female leads for the next one (partly confirmed by Angelina Jolie showing a lot of interest), so I am guessing we will be seeing a very dark, lean and mean Catwoman...if Nolan has her in mind, that is.

Harvey Dent...

Dead or Alive?

Thats the question which has been plaguing every Dark Knight fan ever since the movie came out.

IGN has a very interesting article explaining what is the actual deal with Dent. If you wanna read it, click on this (Beware of HUGE Spoilers):-

remember the source ... COMIC BOOKS.

people only get killed off when no one cares.

if there is a demand for the character, or a writer thinks it's needed to generate interest - anyone can get brought back - with the most rediculous explainations ... it happened in every comic i ever read.

ferretchucker 08-15-2008 08:47 AM

I hope they don´t bring back Dent. It may work in the comics but in this film series which is incredibly realistic, I just don´t see it being pulled off.

The_Return 08-15-2008 09:03 AM

I think the main thing that points to Dent still being potentially alive is the confrontation between Batman and Maroni.

I forget the exact words, but Maroni says something to the effect of "If you're trying to intimidate someone, pick a better spot. From here, the fall wouldn't kill me.", to which Bats replies: "I'm counting on it", and drops Maroni about 2 stories or so.

Well, Dent's fall was from about the same height...

urgeok2 08-15-2008 09:07 AM

like i said - if it makes sense to bring him back - they'll bring him back

doesnt matter how he died, or if he died ....

Oh, you're 100% right - its still fun to debate though.

A few sites online have posted it as being legit, but I think its pretty much been universally written off as nothing more than a damn cool fan-made poster.

Fan-made poster, like Andrew pointed out.

It came out a day after the rumors started about Johnny Depp all set to play the Riddler in Nolan's next.

Hmm...what are Nolan and Goyer planning for the next one I wonder...

massacre man 08-15-2008 01:21 PM

I hope Cillian Murphy comes back. He's the only villain now with a shot at appearing in an entire series of Bat-films.

I'm right there with you. I first saw him in 28 days later, and every movie i see with him makes me want to see more. His look is perfect for a raving psychotic.

I will miss Heath Ledger though. I think his Joker will go down as one o fthe all time great performances, and will become a pop culture staple like anthony hopkins as hannibal lecter.

And fans of Manhunter dont give me any shit about the lecter comment. I dont care who you think was a better lecter, hopkins made the character a household name. I am not saying anything bad about Brian Cox; anthiony hopkins is lecter to me, but Brian Cox is close to 20 unique characters to me. Id say that makes him a better actor in my opinion ;)

Despare 08-15-2008 03:24 PM

Heh, cool poster, I'd like to see them bring in Riddler and Viki Vale AND keep Two Face.
