Its ok...but is it it better than Gremlins ?

ChEEbA 12-31-2004 10:37 PM

No...Gremlins was still better, although I did enjoy Critters a lot.

I've got to agree with that, Gremlins is the better story but Critters does have more blood and gore.

Amalthea 01-01-2005 02:12 PM

Hey Hatebreeder, did you see Home Alone with your kids?
Return:I did not see the three last movies with kids, but I just mostly enjoy them for the jokes and the visual effects.

The Labyrinth:80īs adventure movie with unforgetabble characters and songs.

An Amazon.com review of Barbie & The Swan Lake:

Yes, I will admit, despite being in my 20s, I still enjoy and collect animation. I have for years, and Barbie is a fairly recent discovery for me (beyond her cameos in Toy Story).

While at first I was reluctant to give any of the Barbie movies a chance, a friend of mine watched Rapunzel with her niece and insisted they were pretty good. So, renting the first two movies with a few other friends including her, we prepared ourselves for an evening of amusement. Yes, we found some things funny and still carry inside jokes based on the movies even many months after, however overall I liked them.

And Swan Lake is certainly no exception. In fact, I loved this one. The animation is very well done, and the music is just enchanting. It gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling all over. It was like I was a kid again, watching my favorite film and going back to relive the feelings years later. It even made me regret I didn't stick to those ballet lessons my mother sent me to years ago, as the dance scenes were adorable and magical. Barbie was in my life once again, only this time, I wasn't playing with dolls.

The only thing that really, truly bothered me about Swan Lake was that of Rothbart's daughter. Her laughter was incredibly irritating and distracted me from any scene in which she chose to do so. Thankfully Ivan and the other enchanted forest dwellers are a delight and make up for it.

In closing, I highly recommend this to any parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent, or whoever looking for a great gift (holiday or otherwise) for a child. And perhaps even for an animation fan such as myself, if you aren't too afraid.

House on Haunted Hill.

Haven't seen it for ages....just wondering how the fuck they got the remake from this!!!!!! Totally different movie!

I do like them both though.......but the original was classic horror at it's best
:D

I went and saw The Incredibles today...
Funny fucking movie, excellent action sequences - I'd say this one gives the recent marvel films run for their money.
See it.

I have a friend asking me to go see that with her...
I was thinking no...?

Last movie I saw was Cheech and Chong. Ha. Funny fucks.
Oh and Lost Souls.
Hm.

ChEEbA 01-04-2005 02:21 AM

I hated lost souls!!!! boring MOTHERFUCKER of an anticlimatic movie...

I'd reccomend the Incredibles, and I HAAAATE most kids/kid-compatable films.
I'd wait til the primary school holidays are over though...the place was packed with the annoying little bastards.

42ndStreetFreak 01-04-2005 02:51 AM

Michael mann's underrated "Thief".
Very funny to see Dennis Farina and William Peterson in tiny roles, peterson's is microscopic!

urgeok 01-04-2005 04:05 AM

thief is a fine movie ..
mann using Tangerine Dream again for the score ..
He is one of the few directors that understands how
get as much drama out of the music as he does the
rest of the film elements..

movieman64 01-04-2005 04:59 AM

Watched Midnight Mass last night, I wouldn't waste my time if I were you.

42ndStreetFreak 01-04-2005 05:50 AM

"National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" - Calssic seasonal slice of comic Americana.

urgeok: Agreed. I love the use of music to add to the emotional impact. The tiger/love making scenes in "Manhunter" spring to mind as does the stunning chase/lost love battle on the mountain pass sequence in "Last of the Mohican's".

urgeok 01-04-2005 05:53 AM

Dead and Buried
The Beyind (Fulchi)

i guess i liked them both - but they each drove me nuts as well
Especially the Zombie shooting scenes in The Beyond.
2 in the stomach, one in the head
2 in the stomach, one in the head
2 in the stomach, one in the head

say .. shooting them in the head kills them !

1 in the head
1 in the head
1 in the head
1 in the head
1 in the head
1 in the head

then back to 2 in the stomach, 1 in the head .... what the fuck ???

movieman64 01-04-2005 06:17 AM

Maybe they were just a bad shot.

urgeok 01-04-2005 06:28 AM

no .. you have to see this one to believe it ..

movieman64 01-04-2005 06:56 AM

I've seen them...I liked The Beyond, the cellar scenes were good.

ChEEbA 01-04-2005 06:57 AM

normally i love italian zombie movies .. but i found this one made no sense - at any time whatsoever .

I'll watch it again and like it more because I'll know what to expect but holy crap ... what was Fulchi thinking ?

the big opening shot of the boats coming silently to the house via the water .. then up drive 2 cars ?

the fake spiders mixed in with the tarantulas ...

the dead girl/living girl with the eyes ?

and the shootings

oh speaking of the cellar .. i liked the leak 5 feet high on the cellar wall... where the water was a foot deep on the other side.

I can take style over substance .. but when a film continues to make no sense whatsoever.. i lose interest.

since when did fulci (or come to think of it, most italian horror films) make sense.....fulci always seemed to be more interested in set-pieces

LOL....I just watched that movie a couple of weeks ago and was thinking the same thing...Shoot them in the head asshole....

I watched Equilibrium for the first time last night......what a good fucking movie. The gun play could most definately give any John Woo movie a run for its money.Pretty good story as well.

i LOVE equilibrium ..

if you had of told me before i saw it that a movie that was basically farenheight 451 meets brave new world with some matrix meets John Woo gunplay staring christian Bale as a hero (up til then he's been a prick in his films) i would have said THAT WILL SUCK.

I saw it without knowing anything about it and it blew me away ..

great film.

AUSTIN316426808 01-05-2005 07:59 AM

If you wanna know how he is going to be in the new Batman than rent the aforementioned "Equilibrium". If its any indication, there will be no worrys for the future of Batman.

urgeok 01-05-2005 08:14 AM

last night i watched The Vampire Effect.

a horror/action/comedy/romance Hong Kong film.

Hong Kong - neck and neck with Bollywood when it comes to mixing film genres.
What a western director might do in an experimental surreal film, these Eastern guys do routinely.

Anyway .. it had the standard silly clingy romance angle that HK girls love but there were a couple of fun action scenes. Jackie Chan had a bit roll and was in a funny fight scene with a couple of vampires which eventually broke down into a lame comedy bit.

Anyway .. it was pretty dumb but entertaining in a cotton candy kind of way.
