The STE 02-24-2007 11:21 PM

no, no, I'm pretty sure Memento has 2 votes

roshiq 02-24-2007 11:21 PM

Hope fulfilled

Memento is a complete masterpiece from Nolan, but I like to go with one of the best sci-fi classics for all time...STAR WARS

The STE 02-24-2007 11:21 PM

and now so does Star Wars

AUSTIN316426808 02-24-2007 11:29 PM

Only slightly, only slightly.

bwind22 02-25-2007 10:00 AM

I'm assuming there are some better Star Wars films later on.

Despare 02-25-2007 10:30 AM

There aren't. They only got weaker as they went along. I'm not saying I didn't like Star Wars; I did.

But the newer ones sucked, and I wasn't fanatical about any of 'em.

The_Return 02-25-2007 11:12 AM

Argh.

Personally I prefer Memento, but Star Wars is just such a classic (and a pretty awesome movie in its own right)...

Memento

Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi were both better than "New Hope", IMO.

word. the original 3 films were really good, and the three prequels looked great but didn't compare.

I'm with ya on Empire, but New Hope's got Jedi by a good bit. imo.

I thought Jedi was the best.

If my last post came off as me not liking Jedi, then that's not true at all, I've enjoyed all of 'em, even the last 3 that weren't all that great. Out of the first three I just think Empire is the superior followed by 'Hope' and then not to far behind 'Jedi'.

To rank them all..

Empire Strikes Back
New Hope
Return of the Jedi
Revenge of the Sith
Attack of the Clones/Phantom Menace

The STE 02-25-2007 03:27 PM

Phew, close one. Memento wins 9-8. Next match in a sec

The STE 02-25-2007 03:34 PM

Round 1: Match 5

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
http://ec2.images-amazon.com/images/...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
For my money, the funniest movie ever made. And one of the most quotable. "It's just a flesh wound!" "What's the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?" "Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of ELDERBERRIES!" There's comedies, then there's this.

VS

American Psycho
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
Yeah, it's witty, well directed, has a unique sort of atmosphere, but the real story here is the star making performance by pre-Batman, pre-Equilibrium Christian Bale. He completely dissappears into the role like few actors of the modern era can do. Very good movie punctuated by a great performance.

It's glorious, like an angel's sparkling lugie.

The STE 02-25-2007 09:17 PM

Ouch. Well, I'm voting for Holy Grail. Still, it loses 6-1. Next match in a sec

The STE 02-25-2007 09:21 PM

Round 1: Match 6

Spirited Away
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
Miyazaki's take on Alice in Wonderland. Not his best film, but the best of his more family friendly films (Princess Mononoke wasn't family friendly). Rich, detailed animation, and Mr. No-Face

VS

Toy Story
http://ec2.images-amazon.com/images/...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
First (?) CGI-animated feature film, and still one of the best. Manages to work on adult and child levels without those sexual jokes (Shrek) or random pop-culture references (Shrek again).

AUSTIN316426808 02-25-2007 09:22 PM

First match that's pretty much a joke..

Spirited Way
