Very well said! The first time that I watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre was around 2 or 3 years ago, when the original was first release on dvd... and boy did it get under my skin.

I watched it as you described, alone, in the dark with no distractions... and I am not ashamed to say that by the end of it, I was very scared and crying... and that was 25 years after it was originally released.

They don't come along very often these days... last night I caught some of I Don't Want to be Born (1975/Peter Sasdy) just before bed and nearly shat - a baby that turns into a horrible man in creepy flashes!

The dubbed, screechy screams in those British 70's horrors still send chills right up my spine.

ok so at school i was walking down the hall with a group of friends i said "have any of you seen the original texas chainsaw massacre" they all pretty much said "that movie was so boring Jason X is a way better horror movie" then i went on to ask if they saw halloween and they all pretty much also said "resident evil is better because it has more action and it is scarier"

i was confused i am probably the only person in school who's top 5 horror movies dont have "resident evil" ,"jason x" or "i know what you did last summer"

people actually like jason X?

i sure as hell didnt .. it was garbage.

its not possible to turn your brain off long enough to find anything enjoyable in that film without going into a deep coma.

i couldn't even make it the whole way through it.

Anyone that liked Resident Evil should have someone spit in they're face and see if they like that.

That is one genre that needs to make a serious comeback: the horror comedy!!!! What happened to great movies like Ghostbusters, Monster Squad, and Transylvania 6-5000??? I wish someone would remake Saturday the 14th instead of the great horror classics. yep.
