chee - thanks for the advice. This comp has been running for just about 2 years now. Aside from the 5 falls, which were way back in the beginning. its been fine. Which is why i have come to the conclusion that it mus tbe the fan. i have noticed that the fan has been running a LOT more than it used to. i could understand it running during photoshop but now it will run when im just using AIM. Sometimes it will make a small pop sound and just shut off. My guess is that it is too hot. FOr now, i want to wait and get the new comp and transfer all my shit over before attempting to clean it out. At the same time though, if i were to clean it out and find out it WAS just the fan being clogged, then hell thatll be $800+ saved. ah well. maybe ill do it tonight! wish me luck..... |

Alternatively, you could just buy a new fan relatively cheaply. They reckon the best way to get a long life outta your pc is to get one of those customised towers with like 2-3 fans, and regularly clean the fans yourself. A dirty fan can fuck up all the other stuff inside the pc, best to keep an eye on it. It's a task, but if you open your pc (the fans not the only part with a shitload of dust on it you'll find) about every 2-3 months for a good dusting, it'll definately increase the lifespan of the pc somewhat... Totally off topic here...but isn't dusting lightbulbs meant to do much the same thing? |

well i took apart the computer today. at least tried
did i mention that i'm on a laptop? aparently they make it so that even if u take the screws out, u cant open it. in other words, the shits all snap together. i ordered an airbrush (for nail stuff) and it comes with a needle. its dual action, so i can control the air flow and the paint flow. so i guess ill just try sticking the needle in some of the various vent holes in the comp and see what flies out. i guess it cant hurt so long as i dont stick it in too far..... arousing.. ANYWAY, i definitely am buying a new comp. this will just mainly be for bringing to school and shit. the new comp will have the works, hell maybe even like 20 fans. hah.. well u get the idea GOD i hate technology! as for the lightbulbs... beats me! |
