Maybe it has something to do with when we grew up, Newb...It seems that everyone started becoming 'imbalanced' about 20 years ago when all of these medications became popular...No one took these things when we were kids...Now everyone has some sort of mental problem?...Just seems odd to me.

I agree 100%

The only chemicals I put in my body (or my kids' bodies) are the preservatives in our foods :p

We've all had minimal antibiotics, as a result we have incredibly strong immune systems.

I'll take Advil for migraines, and give the kids Tylenol for a fever (which is rare), but that's it.

I agree - I think that doctors are unethically quick to prescribe medication (especially to kids and teenagers) instead of helping them work through issues. And I think that parents are too damn lazy to seek out other options.

But speaking from pure, personal experience, the meds I am on have helped me, personally, more than I can express. I think that they're right for me right now. Not for the rest of my life, maybe, but right now there is a HUGE improvement over last year.

Not for everyone and I certainly don't advocate for it... But for me, the improvement is so clear.

we ran into somethign similar recently, and there is more to this type of dr behavior. they get kickbacks from pharmaceutical companies for pushing their product. Lily has been coughing at night since the spring, so we finally had insurance and got her in for a checkup.

Dr said "Allergies, definitely" and prescribed nasonex. We foundout after a week of giving it to Lily that one of the (possible) side effects is stunted growth, because its a steroid, so needless to say, we freaked out and stopped it immediately 9although it did improve the coughing). So bree called the dr and told her, and the dcotor "I dont believe that, keep her on it". At bree's insistance, we got a referral to an allergy specialist. they did bloodwork, and guess what?

Nasonex wasnt going to do much, because Lily has NO allergies. Hmmm.... The first doctor wasnt even willing to consider other possibilities (and she was highly recommended too, which sucks) she just kept pushing one particular drug...

I don't take anything routinely. I had to have a bottle of medicine to sort out my ears for diving. I got an infection and considering it was a week before I went up in a plane, down in a plane and under water constantly, it was for the best. My grandmother is a distributor for a company called Neways. They are famous for being probably the healthiest stuff in the world. You probably don't believe me, but they are. Check the out, they're worldwide. Can't be bought in shops.

They have things like Cod Liver Oil capsules, but with none of the added heavy metals.
They sell stuff called Noni juice. All natural. ALL.
I used to have very bad excema, but since I use their bathing stuff, i haven't had it for years.

I don't take the tablets anymore, just because I'm lazy and I forget. I use their toiletries though, because they're there and they work.

But anyway, back to the point at hand - GO ON VOD. This is good. Really good.

And in terms of melatonin... The other psycho-meds stuff already gave me really vivid nightmares, so it's hard to tell if it's from them or the melatonin. :o

Sucks to hear that that's how they affect you - vivid dreams can seriously be exhausting.

Yeah, I really do notice a difference in my mood when I take vitamin D. When I don't take it I literally lay in bed all day and don't want to get up because A) it's cold outside of my blankets and B) I feel like there is no point getting up when my day is going to suck anyway. So I take vitamin D in the morning and part way through the day.

Another vitamin that I really notice a difference with is omega-3. I feel less anxious and my attention span is increased 10 fold. Makes lectures infinitely easier.

Hey
Getting a virus early in the season will do your little red and white cell army a world of good.
You are lucky enough to build RESISTANCE.
Build up the wall to fight the REALLY bad shit coming down the road.
Don't be so quick to grab the antibiotics.
You will get better with rest and lots of water....even if it takes 2 weeks of being home- better than the common cold killing you in 10 years, eh?

oh fuck, I don't really care
too many damn people already, and most of them suck
