Yups..here i am .
Our time zones are out of whack..as i would figure that right now...its 6.50 am
nz time.
(my opening arguement)

The world is not going to end 'as widely suggested' ..only life thats in existence..not due to any heavenly creature..but by man himself.
Man is his own nemisis and will eventually be the reason for his own demise.
Every disaster that has happened to date is caused by mens thirst for knowledge and thier constant dig for answers to things they do not understand.
Is there a god..??I do not know and in all honesty..there is not a soul out there who can say defiantly ..that there
is.

Good start Stubborn. I will speak from a strict christan point of view. First things first; you say you do not know if there is a God or not, I applaud your honasty.I can assure you that there is. Look at it this way, nothing can come from nothing. If God did not exist, there could be nothing.I have been in this long enough to know why people are so resistant to God, sence I once was myself. I find people are not generly willing to be introspective and be honest about there own motives. We belive that our lives belong to ourselfs and we can do what we wish with them.Or, if we allow ourselfs to belive in a creator, that will interfear with our sexual morays,or some people are afrade of the judgment of a holy God. And they should.

No no! We can't discuss faith with the predetermined belief that we are right. If you do that, you don't ALLOW for discussion. If I were to be honest and argue from that perspective I'd say something like, "I believe in God; we just don't talk. I'm a Momma's girl. When I pray at night, I don't pray to the intermediate, I pray to his Boss, The Goddess."

However, I'm not debating from the perspective that I'm right. So, I'm not going to say that.

Also, try to use your debate to educate not convert. Conversion discussions are tacky.

This thread explores the possibilities of apocalypse...What different people think may happen in the end...The image I posted is an amalgamation of those thoughts...

Consider the atomic blast, many people believe that nuclear war is what will ultimately be the end...

However...The bible says that Jesus will return to claim those who are worthy of heaven when the end comes...

If ya think about it...The picture seems to ask...What if both theories are correct?...Maybe this picture should simply be called "Bad Timing"

I hope that didn't make it worse

I seriously had no intention of making a religious statement of ANY sort...Just thought the picture was pretty cool...

It's no big deal or anything, just kinda made me go "hey what the... " for a second. >over it.

:D

Try speaking from your own point of veiw.
For somebody religious to fall back on quotes from the bible or words that were supposedly spoken by the apostles..tells me that they cannot speak for themselves or do not know how to.
In pointing out that we came from nothing and that we should be afraid of the creator is once again heading in the direction of how some religions misinterperate the meaning of life and as to how to became about.
From what i hear preached on a daily basis is...god is love...god gave his only
begotten son so that we could all survive..god is for everyone.
And yet...(heres the contridiction)..
religions also preach..if your bad..you will go to hell...if your weak...you will be left behind...if you don't beleive in god..you will again go straight to hell.
If you do not follow the laws of the bible...you will go to hell also.
So em asking you this..
Are these the words of god or are these the words of religion who interpreted what they believe had been written. ?

end of the world

Stubborn, it goes like this. (my apologies to haunted) God,being perfect,ie sinless, is offended by sin. Sin is anything that goes agenst the nature of God. Now,as humans, in our fallen nature, we have no way to attone for those sins no matter what you do.In order to bring us back into union with God, there had to be a sacrafice,a perfect sacrafice and no one in this world can qualify as perfect, right? So god sent his son to die in our place and pay the price that we could not pay. There is only one thing one must to to be in union with God, belive that Christ is the son of God. I am sorry Haunted,if it were possible for me to relate this information any other way I would. You are a pagen? That ok, so was I at one time. Now, Stubborn, how do you fill the end will come?

But...God is omnipotent, right?...And God makes all the rules...So, God was the one that decided that no one could get in unless his son was sacrificed for them....

Seems a little sadistic to me...

Yes Bloodrayne, God is perfect Seemes sadistic ya, I guess, but the price of salvation is blood. One for the many. And, oh, by the way, thanks for letting me sound off like this, this kind of debate is a lot of fun for me.

Meh...We do this here all the time...We have at LEAST 100 threads like this, without exaggerating...

We have also discussed abortion, politics, homosexuality, gay marriage, war, drug legalization and pretty much EVERY 'sensitive' subject you can imagine...Over and over again....

Haunted 03-03-2006 05:43 AM

You know, the whole idea behind transubstantiation is gross. Eat this wafer, piece of bread, etc it's the body of Jesus. No thanks. Haunted is not a cannibal. Here, girlie, drink this wine, grape juice, red cool-aide, etc; it's Jesus' blood. Not being a vampire, that just isn't appealing.

Look, it goes like THIS. Faith is something that is deeply personal. You can't look me in the eye and tell me that your way is totally the ONLY way. Why? Because ultimately, you have only faith. Faith ain't fact. We honestly just don't ultimately know for a 100% what's going down beyond the stratosphere.

So where do we go from that? Experience. I dare you. I double dog dare you. I tripple dog dare you to tell me that your experiences as a Christian are more valid and more real than my experiences as a devotee of The Morrighan, Witchcraft, and all around spiritual life.

Just recently I lay on a hospital bed with doctors telling me that I might not live through the night. Scared the shit out of me. However, I felt the presence of the Goddess. She never left my side. I spent that night in constant prayer to Her. Not only did I survive, but I suffered no organ damage. I came out of there as healthy as I did before I went in.

Now, you're going to tell me that my experience wasn't real? What've you got to show for that? A book? More importantly, a book written by people? There are a lot of liturgical books out there, and most of them pre-date the Bible by a long shot. What makes them less valid? Those folks believe their books and doctrines were divine inspiration. Are you going to tell them that they're full of shit? What makes you so gd right? (I used the initials "gd" out of respect to you).

Honey, unless you can come to terms with the fact you cannot say that your experiences are more valid than mine, all you're going to be doing is expressing your faith as I just did or being really out of touch with the world around you. Neither one of these are conducive for debating.
