Absolutely, like road-ragers in their cars (where they are safe to shout abuse from within their steel cages and can speed away from trouble at the touch of pedal), the internet messageboard user is able to administer the way it is ("IMHO" - lol!), and say fuck you to non-conformists - safe within their houses and at the mere touch of a button!
This isn't a "new persona" as such, but rather an internet personality... where interaction exists only on the very surface, with use of words the defining element.
It always raises a snigger when folk type away lovingly about friendships with fellow users they have never met (discounting "cyber-handshakes" or whatever - d'oh!) - and is slightly disturbing... in an Orwellian, distopian kinda way.
