Yeah kinda sad really but there are some folks down here that kinda think that way. Personally I think it's fucking ignorant to think so though.

Not one of them.

Is it aggravating that people not from the south sometimes assume that everyone down there is a redneck?
Yeah actually this does piss me off, NOT everyone in the south is a redneck and you are fucking ignorant if you think that way.

Rednecks aren't just in the south they are everywhere, they are known as white trash.

Yeah it's really obvious, kinda funny to.

Do you pronounce pecan "peh-cahn" or "pee-can"?
I say "Pee-Can"

Ok I have a question for people in the north.

Do you get offended by someone calling you a Yankee?

And here is a question to people from California.

Do you get offended if someone thinks that everyone from Califorinia is either an idiot or a homo?

The only culture issues I really have a problem with are these.

If you move to the United States from another country, IE:
Mexico, Middle East, Asia etc, etc, etc....

1. learn to speak ENGLISH, if you wanna speak your language that's fine but learn to speak ours also...I wouldn't move to your country and not learn the language you speak.

2. Pay your goddamn taxes, I work my ass of and pay my taxes you should have to also.

3. Get fucking auto insurance!!!

Hearing him talk, there is absolutely no doubt he is from the south :)

:D Damn right I'm from the south, and proud of it :p

:D Now if i can just get shanks, zwoti and cheeba to answer, i will feel complete.

I have yet to see anyone up here get mad about being called a Yankee. Christ, they have "Yankee" magazine up here...

The funny thing is, i get irritated at people calling me a new englander or saying that i am "from" new Hampshire. It's true, i have lived here almost 13 years, but i never really integrated into the world up here. Everyone says "wicked" to mean "really" or "very", i never have. i never adopted an accent, so i have never really fit in completely here. Probably why im such a shut-in :D

ohhh buddy you have no idea !!

in my last job i worked with a team of engineers ..all from mainland china.

they barely spoke english and would speak mandarin in the office constantly.
I could go 3 weeks before anyone would say a damn thing to me.

The asian population in toronto is greater than the 'white' population.

I love the food and some of the culture it brings to the city, but i hate the way thse people segregate themselves. There is no desire to participate as a canadian - instead they create the environment they are used to around them.

Not everyone - but enough to be plainly noticable.

like kpro said .. if i was in Hong Kong or China for work i'd be learning cantonese or mandarin as fast as possible to integrate with the community i'm working in ...

much more rewarding that way..

Vod wern't you an Air Force brat and moved all over alot as a child? Wouldn't that make you sort of a cultural mutt?:D

Ok here's a few questions for other cultures?

I'll add one more to the UK questions.

Are some brits still pissed that Britain lost the revolutionary war?

Asians

1. If you are from Japan are you pissed that the U.S. dropped not one but 2 atomic bombs on Japan?

2. Do you get offended by the generalization that all asians have tiny dicks?

Mexicans

1. Do you get offended by everyone thinking that all Mexicans
live in a trailer with thirty other Mexicans?

Middle Easteners

1. Do you get offended by people thinking that everyone from the middle east is a terrorist?

urgeok 03-08-2005 05:13 AM

does anyone even care about canadians ?

Vodstok 03-08-2005 05:20 AM

There were almost 2 pages of canandian talks :)

Yeah, kpro, that is how i have always seen it. I am from everywhere. I was born in california, but i have lived in germany a full 3rd o fmy life (2 different occasions), and lived in washington and indiana.

A big problem i had with a lot of people i met from other countries was that they would insist that in their country you had to do things their way, because it was their culture (and often had no respect for ours). Those same people in the opposite setting would refusde to make any changes, claiming they were holding on to their culture.....

People suck the world over....

Urge, we have a similar issue with the company i work for. There is one particular guy who uses his "inexperience" with english as an excuse to skirt policies. He has been in this country for almost a decade, and actually understands you just fine until you tell him something he doesnt want to hear. Then he gets a really stupid look on his face and his ability to understand english fades away.

i see that happen to a lot of people ..
even ones that were born here and spoke english all their lives :)

I couldn't really think of any questions to ask you Cannucks that Vod hadn't already asked... :D

But I know what you are talking about with the language thing...

The Mexican popultaion is really huge here in the south, and we have "little mexico" trailer parks and such all over here...And they seperate themselves also...

Back when I used to climb trees for a living I had a few mexicans that worked on my crew as groundmen, and none of them could speak a lick of english, and it could have been dangerous for them also....I mean how in the fuck am I supposed to tell someone that can't understand english they better watch out cause I'm fixing to cut the top out of this 100 foot white oak tree and they better not be in the way or they are gonna get seriously fucked up?
