Then again, If I didn't give even one fuck, I probably wouldn't have posted, or most likely even read this thread...but hey, that's just my CRAZY way of doing things.

...And it's those bodies that are gonna start causing problems before long. Personally, I still don't think they've found more than 3/5 of the bodies yet anyway...
Some are saying that the headcount that starvation, and carrion related disease will take out could well be more than the initial drowning/battering deaths (and then there's more bodies...etc...etc), think about it, THAT many dead bodies...there's not enough people to (for lack of a better way to put this) clean it up quickly enough...and then there's the whole water contamination issue, there was a lot of filthy water in these countries, it's now allover the place...
They'll be very lucky if the initial disaster turns out to be the worst of what has happened.
Still trying to find out about my friend, it's very hard with all the confusion, and all the little sub-locations of these countries...

I hope you find out about your friend soon!!

Yeah thanks...at this point it's just a wait, it kinda sucks for both me and my girl, she's a pretty good friend...I think she'll be ok.

just heard on the way into work that the estimated number of deaths so far are about 114,000

unbelievable...

and like mentioned earlier .. the effects will be far reaching ..
disease, homelessness, crime ..

apparently the Canadian government is sending 40 million for immediate relief ...

I don ´t understand it too Orangestar with the constant showings on TV.

bwind22 01-01-2005 12:45 AM

CNN says the toll is 'approaching' 150,000. That probably means it'll be there by morning. Mostly children. Its pretty sad that like an entire generation just got wiped out in a single day.

:(

And how did all of the animals know to get out of the there? That's weird.

ChEEbA 01-01-2005 01:49 AM

I'm assuming the animals is something they had the good taste to leave out.
There's a LOT of dogs in sri-lanka and india, both pets and street dogs...heaps of wildlife overall in all of the countries.
It's a shame, some would've known something was up and would have escaped, but I'm certain a fair few of those would've been victims also - the bodycount is probably up there with the humans when you think about it...

I just hope they manage to contain the potential disease and infections that will become a problem otherwise.

What's the tsunami in the Indian Ocean got to do with Denmark?

To be honest I'm sick of hearing about the damn thing now - unfortunate as it was for those affected by it, if I hear another theatrically grim newsreader pleading for me to understand how terrible it all is and to give give give £££ I'm going to go and drown myself.
