It's pretty slow paced, but otherwise I think it's pretty cool.

The ending is just plain awesome.

Yeah it was pretty good, as The_Return said it IS slow paced at first but then it gets interesting (in my opinion)....especially the story, I like the concept of it

anyways....last seen movie for moi

"2001: A Space Odyssey"

very good, I love the visuals for this movie and the very little dialogue in this movie really works, it must've been breath taking for it's time (1968) I believe it still is

x)

Kill Bill 2 9/10

Shrek the Third 10/10

I agree, Mothman Prophecies is pretty good!

Angra 06-29-2008 05:38 AM

"You Don't Mess with the Zohan" 7-8/10

The funniest Sandler movie since "Little Nicky". He was in his favorite element for sure. Hilarious charater.

Could have wished for a little more storywise. But what the hell, i had a good time.

Daedalus 06-29-2008 05:58 AM

"Singing In The Rain"

Man that part with Cyd Charrise is haawwwwt

Same thing I said.

phantomstranger 06-29-2008 02:03 PM

"The Machine Girl"

Hysterically funny, over the top, gore soaked Asian action film. I loved it.

"Zombie Strippers"

I guess Robert Englund didn't invest his "Elm Street" money wisely if he has to appear in movies like this. Oh well...the film has some hot naked woman, lots of gore and of course, flesh eating zombies. Not the worst film ever made, but certainly not the best.

Dante'sInferno 06-29-2008 03:09 PM

Well my mom wanted to watch her two movies she rented,so we watched(Before i could watch my last one, that i picked out)

Definitely,Maybe.....

Mad Money......She hated both, and said that she needed to stop picking movies,i laughed...so......"DRUMROLL!"

Leon:The Professional 10/10 Great movie.

Watched it with the wife. The little girl is intelligent and full of charm (loved her on the talk show circuit) and Dwayne Johnson has son much charisma that it's hard not to enjoy his performances.

Jurassic Park II

I've seen one and three but never two... I was kind of taken aback at first by how goofy things got (Why ride a motorcycle under a dinosaur instead of around and did I just see a teenage girl kick a dino out a window while doing a parallel bar routine??) but it was fun nonetheless. We watched it and had fun while having a few laughs at the absurdity (and Vince Vaughn).

OMG- he can NOT act in that type of role. I had to watch parts of that film hundreds of times and it was embarrassing. Ooof... no offense but Dwayne Johnson is fine in roles where he's yelling, running and shooting- but try to get him to exibit emotions and such- it's just beyond his capabilities.

Geddy 06-30-2008 06:33 AM

The Road Warrior.

hellfire1 06-30-2008 07:00 AM

The Tripper - very trippy, fun, over the top, surprisingly political... I enjoyed it a lot.

i disagree .. i think he has a great screen presence .. and a lot of versitality.
i wasnt crazy about the gameplan .. it was formulatic and predictable - pretty redundant with nothing new to give - other than his perfromance which i did like.

I think he's going to have a very expansive and rewarding career.

my last seen :

- once bitten (holy 80's batman - this one is dated)
- ashanti - movie i saw in the theatre years agood .. great cast
- the hard corps (van damme) poorly written gansta dialogue - but not bad otherwise

Agreed 100%.

urgeok2 06-30-2008 08:02 AM

i forgot - we saw Wall-E on the weekend as well.

another movie i thought would suck after seeing the ads.
a very unfortunate campaign that is playing up this bullshit self serving smug cuteness that makes my teeth ache.

however .... the ads do the film a great diservice.

it was actually really really good.

the animation was outstanding, the story was very good ... i cant say a bad thing about it.

even where it got emotional - it wasnt forced - didnt feel contrived .

this movie took a page from the Monster's Inc book .. quality kids film - rather that the other maudlin crap Disney has produced.

Oh boy... you guys are going to LOVE his next piece of excrement then- THE TOOTH FAIRY.

No- I'm not joking.

Dwayne Johnson stars as a hockey player who is turned into the Tooth Fairy. Sure to be just loaded with that charismatic acting of the caliber of "The Game Plan" where they would point the camera at the former Rock and tell him "Okay Dwayne, now cock your head to the left... a little more... now put on a frowny face... good... shoot that reaction! It's GOLD!"

It's clear why they dropped "The Rock" from his name- it would be too tempting to compare his acting to said inatimate object.

Oh yah... expansive....

Bugcrush
-Sound short, with solid performances and thick, creepy atmosphere.

The Ruins
-Story's kinda flimsy, but it's very well done, which kept it interesting.

Both of those were from Carter Smith. Bugcrush, the best of the two imo, he both wrote and directed. And with The Ruins, he took a borderline boring story and made it about as entertaining as you probably could. So I'm looking forward to whatever he does next.

By the way, I agree with urge. Rock's charisma is undeniable, and I don't see how you can watch Gridiron Gang and say he can't display emotion. Just my opinion.

his choices wont all be brilliant - i'm sure some will be obligational ...

but i wont naysay something until i see it ...

who knows - maybe he can make it work.

i thought he was amazing in Be Cool .. he was a good sport - had a lot of fun poking fun at himself.

Totally.

In each of the movies he has done so far in his short career, whether hits or flops, he has owned each one of them. His personality and on-screen presence is very strong. Just pick up any one of his movies and look at him...and you will see his domination.

I think he will go on and be one step ahead of Schwarzenegger, because the man CAN act, too.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

It was an ok movie, certainly not bad, but missing that extra something. Maybe it's because I'm not 8 anymore, but it just didn't feel like an Indy flick to me.

I liked the little girl too, she's as cute as a button. I seriously think the movie would have been much better if they had ended it as he was walking back onto the field. Ah well, decent family fare with a couple of standouts. :)

heebiejeebies 06-30-2008 12:48 PM

The Happening - To say I was disappointed would be an understatement of monumental proportions. (Okay, I have a slight problem with melodrama.:D) I can normally find one or two good things to say about even the crappiest movies, but this one left me with nothing. All I can say is M. Night's downward spiral continues. F

The Signal - Overall I liked this movie, but it had a few "long" (i.e. - boring) moments. That being said, I thought it was a cool concept to divide it into three "acts" and have different directors for each. B

Nightwatch and Daywatch - I like these movies, but I wish they wouldn't stray so far from the books. A-/B-

The Orphanage - I bought this as soon as it came out on DVD, but I don't know why I waited so long to watch it. It was by far the best of the recent movies I've seen. Absolutely brilliant. A+

Angra 06-30-2008 01:24 PM

"Kung fu Panda" 7-8/10

Thought Jack Black did a great voice job. The intro brought back nice memories to Tenacious "Tribute" and "Wonderboy". Hilarious.

Posher778 06-30-2008 01:31 PM

Get Smart- 7/10 Really solid comedy. Never a boring moment. Steve Carell wasn't too terribly bad.

The Orphanage- 9/10 Really brilliant. It doesn't seem like horror to me though, but it's an absolutely brilliant story.

massacre man 06-30-2008 01:39 PM

Reign Over Me
I enjoyed it. I found the last quarter or so a little draggy.

Punch-Drunk Love
Wow... why did I wait so long to see this? Definitely in my top 20.

Next up on my viewing list: There Will Be Blood and Boogie Nights

Roderick Usher 06-30-2008 02:39 PM

Machine Girl

Holy Crap!!!

Riki-Oh meets Kill Bill meets Battle Royale (but not as good as those films) with Japanese schoolgirls, machine gun arms, chainsaw legs, drill bras, flying guillotines, ninjas, yakuza, tons of gore, fountains of blood and tempura.

Original? No. Creative? Yes. Fun? Fuck yeah!

7.5/10

fortunato 06-30-2008 05:05 PM

ils (them) (2007)

wasn't very impressed with this one.
it had some solid parts, and it looked good, but i didn't feel it was any better than the strangers.

novakru 06-30-2008 05:18 PM

The Spiderwick Chronicles- um, it was, um, well, it didn't suck I guess- nothing like the book series.

One Missed Called- Ed Burns playing Ed Burns, pretty lead actress that I would watch read the phone book:D , nice designer cat at the beginning, I want one...what was the beginning all about anyway? It had nothing to do with anything...or maybe I was just drunk.

10,000 BC- er,um, I think there was a story there ,maybe... I fell asleep after an hour or so, nice big-toothed tiger, I want one.
My kids told me the ending was wierd, whatever that means.
