Remake with Naomi Watts. Blockbuster didn't have the other one. Either way, watching that at 2 am really fucked with my head.

*spoiler*

I knew it would end like that, but just once i'd like to see a fucked up movie with a more heroic ending. But still... very creative and mesmerizing.

10,000 BC: Flat, anticlimactic, kinda boring. One of those movies that seems to miss the mark at every turn. It could have been good (merely good), but just didnt know how to make any actual Wow moments. Plus, D'Leh was a pretty boring, unsympathetic lead character.

I saw the original, but i heard the remake also has the "wait, lets acknowlege that this is just a movie and fucking ruin everything" part as well.

Al ot of people loved the remote part but I hated it. Not because it acknowledged that it was a movie or because it broke the 4th wall but because it ruined the ending. After giving the villains that type of power there was no hope for anybody else in the film. Yes, the you could see that ending coming anyway, but there was at least some possibility of an alternate outcome.

**SPOILERS***
I think that part ultimately ruined the uncomfortable atmosphere. i mean, i felt a little bit upset that she went through all that but died at the end, but the remote part kinda made it seem less effective, as if, "oh, i guess its okay, its just a movie."

another aspect to the film that i disliked; the villians were the furthest thing from intimidating or creepy. I think it was sort of the point, but i disliked it either way.

*MORE SPOILERS*

The one thing it did effectively is make the audience take a look at themselves as voyeurs that continue to watch the torture and murder even though they know the two villains couldn't lose. I didn't like the trick but the movie itself was a bit flat for me anyway, the cartoonish jump in time only added to the problems. Not a bad movie but not one of my favorites.

Just watched Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie for Theaters again, I really liked the whole movie but the first fifteen minutes were classic.

even that seemed forced to me. and pardon my nerdish nitpicking, but based on the animals in the movie, it takes place in south america, asia and africa. that is a lot of fucking walking. plus, i despise movies that make a bog deal out of details, but never explain why.

I half expected to find out that the god-man was the little girl-boy that played Ra in stargate, since roland emerich made that too.

Funny Games US. Just to see what the hubub was all about. I did not like how they broke the 4th wall at all. As a drama student, that was a piss off. Same with the remote. Breaking the 4th wall did have one pro, which was that I found myself yelling at the screen. I just assumed they could hear me back. Overall, a disturbing movie that goes on the list of movies I can't makeout during. Right below Haute Tension.

"Breaking the fourth wall" is when a character talks to the audience during a scene.

The Mothman 06-21-2008 09:26 PM

this is probably something i should have already known, thanks.

Good, quite violent and with a hint of humor. Interesting story as well.

But they should have worked a lot harder on the ending.
