Peace Hotel

Pretty good movie although really not what I expected. Translation was surprisingly poor, wish the subtitles were better. I did enjoy the story though, not bad, I'd give it a 6.5/10.

Cold and Dark-1/10

This is one of those 'little engine that could' movies.
I could totally see the vision but the editor must have been on drugs.

Mysterious Skin. For once, I am truly impressed with Gregg Araki. Who would have ever thought that the man responsible for the worst film of the Nineties (Doom Generation, if you must know) could create such a thoughtful and subtle drama? In a nutshell, this film is about how sexual abuse destroys the lives of the victims. It's sad and uplifting at the same time, if that makes any sense. Overall, I give it 8/10.

The Skeleton Key

It was better than I thought. I've always been a fan of voodoo movies because there are actually people out there that believe it exists and practice it so it makes it that much creepier. I thought the acting was good and the story was pretty original. There isn't really any gore but the ending I really liked the ending. Not what you'd expect. Anyways, I wasn't expecting much from this, but it was actually pretty good.

B+

It sure had a whole lot of screaming in it. Terribly annoying, but also the only thing that kept me from falling asleep...

From Dusk Til Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money

Well this one starts off with 2 of my favorite actors (Bruce Campbell and Tiffani Amber Thiessen <Kelly Kapowski from Saved by the Bell>) but unfortunately they both get killed in the first 5 minutes and the film progresses downhill from there. The story had some interesting potential, but wasn't executed very well. The acting was mid-range but nothing special. The gore was minimal and the FX were pretty bad for the most part. There are a few very cool camera shots, but nothing I'd recommend seeing a crappy movie for. All in all, this is a terrible follow up to an excellent vampire film, but still an average horror movie when compared to other films....
