Agreed. I so do love this one.

Kane_Hodder 05-17-2008 07:26 AM

It is a great film, and should have been much more popular with horror fans.
One of the few rare gems which shows why John Carpenter was such an innovating filmmaker.

Kane_Hodder 05-17-2008 07:31 AM

Night of the Creeps.
Very campy and comical. Sort of like a hilarious remake of "Body Snatchers", with a zombie thing thrown in it.
I loved it. :D

Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker

I've always been pretty impartial towards Batman Beyond...I always enjoyed it just because I'm a rabid Bat-fan, but never found it to be anything really special.

This (almost) feature length episode, on the other hand, was incredible. Right up there with some of the very best episodes from the original B:TAS. Highly recommended for any fans of the animated Batman, even if you'd already dismissed Batman Beyond.

Was this your first time seeing it? The scene where The Joker knocks the shit of McGinnis is my favorite scene ever.

I haven't watched too much of the newer animated stuff. The last animated "feature" with the bat I saw was Mask of the Phantasm which I remember really enjoying... but that was a long time ago. How does the new compare?

Blood Diamond- 8.5/10

Very nice action, but still very sad.

"Mask of the Phantasm" is the best. "SubZero" doesn't really have the atmosphere of the animated series, but it's worth a watch. "Return of the Joker" was great. "Mystery of the Batwoman" I haven't seen yet.

In terms of shows. I hate "The Batman", the newer animated series. With their Rasta Joker, goth Riddler, and anorexic Harley. Their was a movie of that called "Batman vs Dracula" that i haven't watched.

One of my all-time favourites.

I am not sure why that is. Maybe because it was one of the first to make an impression on me, and I remember waking myself at 3 in the morning on more than one occasion before VCR's were available to watch it.

Whatever the case, it's a movie I can watch almost any time.

Posher778 05-17-2008 02:20 PM

I can't think of what to watch. My plans were canceled so i've got plenty of time, but I can't pinpoint my mood.

Return of the Joker isn't very new anyway...came out in '99, I believe.

Haven't seen any of the BTAS movies since they very first came out, so I can't really compare...but this is easily on par with the episodes of the original series.

Batman Beyond - the series that RotJ is spunoff from - is decent...really cool concept, but it isnt always executed as well as it could be. Plots are usually good, but some of the villains are lame.

he newest animated series, "The Batman" gets really mixed opinions...personally, I think its a damn cool take on him, but a lot of people (like MM up there) absolutely hate it. I'd say check out an episode or two and see what you think.

On topic: Heading out to see Iron Man...cant wait!

Red rock west

When I first watched this movie years ago the tape broke about 40 mins in, I've never seen it since then flicked on to it the second it was starting tonight by chance. It's a nice bunch of twists.

6.5/10

The redesigns of the villains just killed it entirely for me. I didn't think it was that great to begin with. I mean, I'm all for updating a character from time to time.

Charlie Wilson's War (2007)

Really enjoyed this one, actually. Pleasantly awkward and very, very clever. Philip Seymour Hoffman really is a phenominal actor.

....

I'll admit that Riddler became rather fag-tastic...but I actually kind of like their take on The Joker *ducks tomatoes*. It's obviously not on par with the Mark Hamill version, but I kind of like it anyway - not as suave or as cool, but twice as crazy. I like a little variety in my Jokers, haha.

And - from a purely visual standpoint - Freeze looks 110% badass:

Old Freeze:

New Freeze:

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i9...n/MrFreeze.gif

...now really, just try to tell me that the fool in the bubble looks better than the badass update. I'll admit that the old series did a better job with the character itself - it just doesn't get much better than Heart of Ice - but aesthetically, the new version kicks his chilly ass.

I actually like the old one better. The new one looks like if you melted the ice there's a really douchebag-looking guy underneath.

Iron Man

WOW - probably the most fun I've had watching a movie in ages. Easily up there with the best superhero flicks to date...fantastic.

Not sure what I thought of the ending though (Spoilers Ahead - Highlight to read):

IMO, an Avengers movie could be pretty hit-or-miss...on one habd, it would be incredible to get all of those characters together on film, but might it be overkill? Plus, I really could care less about seeing Hank Pym or The Wasp...decent characters, but way too "comic book"-y for the silver screen, IMO.

But, yeah...great movie.

Yep...Ellen Page is pretty much the best young actress working today.

Really powerful performances in this one...Page and Wilson carry pretty much the whole thing.

That is such a good film. It does a good job of being provocative and twisted at the same time.

How Stella got her groove back - I hate it when other people have control of the remote.... fucking shoot me please....

Diary of the Dead - 6/10 could have done better. but all in all I enjoyed it. Not enough gore for a romero flick though. There was a really funny moment that made me laugh though. Plus I got to see boobs. The boobs made it 6/10 instead of 5/10

Blade Runner, The Final Cut – This is the latest release on the recent DVD. Saw it on the bigscreen as part of a film festival and with visual effects head Doug Trumbull in attendance. I was surprised how much of the movie I’d forgotten – good movie, though, as remembered.

Catacombs, The Reaping, Campfire Tales, Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horrors, and Pathfinder.

Probably more but my mind's a blank. None of 'em were mind-blowing, though. Liked Pathfinder most.

This was pretty good.I thought it would be stupid and it was but there's plenty of gore and boobs.Plus I really Robert Englands character really cracked me.

there's this part where this guy gets his head ripped in half and the jaw line and later he's walking around with it danglingand this huge tounge flipping all over the place when it tries to bite someone.Cracks me up every time.
