And how many times have we seen this story before? I bet Billy Zane was in just for the $$s, because he was completely disinterested throughout (except for the times he was doing the oogling). Annalynne McCord is a hottie no doubt, but doesn't have enough acting chops.

Nothing else of note, except for a Misery moment which will make you wince.

You're right. The movie is completely retarded, but it's funny and entertaining.

I thought the Tuesday the 17th and the alien segments were the only good ones. I thought they were done really well. V/H/S/2 is much better. I thought every segment was good (it's also only an hour and a half unlike V/H/S which was over 2 hours).

I just got out of Guardians of the Galaxy. Really good and funny. If you liked Slither (which is also directed by James Gunn), you'll like this.

Do you think a 9yr old, 6yr old nd a 4yr old would like it or is it a bit too grown up for them??

Child of God (2013)

This had got pretty terrible reviews but I really enjoyed it. James Franco directs this low budget Southern Gothic tale about a Hill billy corpse fucker who has perfect teeth but poor toilet hygiene.

I think I saw parts of this before. Maybe sections in between and the ending. But I forgot about it at first. I decided to watch it last night when I saw the guy who plays Sam in Supernatural in the credits. Also, I have a passing interest in what movies Lindy Booth shows up in. I think this is her best performance that I've seen. She's really strong in it and you are drawn to her character. The movie is a pretty good isolated High School type slasher with modern technology at the time added in. Kind of dated now though. I don't think many use Instant Messenger or AOL anymore for that matter. I do think they could have done a bit more with the environment. Yet it's worth checking out and I'll probably get it on DVD/Blu-ray eventually. I didn't find much fault with this one. A nice surprise "who done it" type of mystery slasher that doesn't come around much.

"The Alamo" (2004) 7/10

Gotta admit, fell asleep halfway through but woke up right before the last brutal 30 minutes. Holy hell. Can't really call it a happy ending.

Great performances from everyone, but Billy Bob Thornton stole the spotlight as Davy Crockett.

Am sure Ah-nuld must be kicking himself after seeing the end product.

Dull, lifeless and slow-moving, which could have been an action-packed whodunnit. Surprising to see accomplished actors like Sam Worthington & Terrence Howard in this, when there was nothing much to do for either of them, specially the latter. And that ending, both of them, didn't make sense at all.

Avoid, unless you absolutely have to see the Terminator in his 70s sleepwalk through a snoozefest, laced with some action and gory sequences which are few and far-between.

Well I finally saw The Purge and I thought it was alright. I give it 6/10. It wasn't that great and I've seen better but it wasn't all that terrible but I know I wouldn't see it again. I've heard the 2nd one was supposed to be better, so I'll have to wait and see and see how the 2nd one will come out. I'm waiting until it comes out on DVD.

Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier
Meh. Typical superhero stuff. And add the fact that Captain America is one of the more boring superheroes.
Good thing Scarlett Johansson was there.

I thought it was alright.
Then again, I'm a bit of a fan of the Schwarz so that might have something to do with it.

Fudge. I don't post about action or other movies much here. But of all Arnold's recent movies, I was looking forward to seeing this one the most. Cast looks great too.

That's not true!

I didn't write any review (cause I just didn't want to or may be not in the mood), only gave it a grade "B+"...and you thought I wasn't impressed by that!?! Really...?
Is "B+" stands for "not impressed" for you guys? Strange!

Quote:

FYI: here are my ratings in grade (out of 10):
A = 9+
A - = 8 to 9
B+ = 7 to 8
B = 6 to 7
B- = 5.5 to 6
C+ = 5 to 5.5
C = 5
C- = 4 to 5
D+ = 2 to 4
D = Below 2
F = 0

And a very rare but SPECIAL GRADING: "A+" for something truly remarkable in every aspects for a film and blow my mind right away!

Decent, but not as good as the original.

Interesting concept of the dybbuk, and had a few effective scares. The concept was a bit weak with plotholes, and Odette (Yustman) Annable was not a great choice for the lead.

As things stood, her cameltoe was the highlight of the film. Apparently the makers couldn't have enough of it either.

It's great; I really enjoyed it. It's one of the few Marvel movies I really liked (the others I liked were Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2).

Fresh Meat (2012)
A dysfunctional gang of criminals takes a middle class Maori family hostage and discovers too late that they are cannibals.

Nice horror-comedy with a good cast.
One character in particular was quite awesome imo.

The Double (2013)
A clerk in a government agency finds his unenviable life takes a turn for the horrific with the arrival of a new co-worker who is both his exact physical double but with an opposite personality.

To slow and surreal for my taste. Everything else looked alright so I'm sure there are people who will be able to appreciate this movie. But I'm not one of them.

Grand Piano
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5f589354.jpg

When i watch movies like this, where the protagonist is held captive of sorts by the antagonist, i always expect one thing: for the characters to grow. In Phone Booth, Collateral, Panic Room and others you can see the growth the characters make and how strong they become and that is my one issue with this movie. Elijah Wood's character grows but there is no progression, he just suddenly becomes a stronger and better person almost all at once.

There didn't seem to be enough time in this movie for him to grow, the movie felt very short and quick but it wasn't horrible. John Cusack made a good villain even if for the duration of the movie you only hear his voice. Elijah Wood played a good protagonist and i enjoyed the suspense and the piano pieces. The end was kind of a mess but overall it was enjoyable.

Without a Paddle

This wasn't bad. I didn't laugh much but i enjoyed it and i was happy that the three leads all played likable characters.

Baron Von Marlon 08-08-2014 07:39 PM

Thumb resize.

Decent English prison movie.
Nice change from the American prison flicks.
The movie poster exaggerates of course.
Only link to Scum is that it's about a young offender and that it's English.
And brutal? Few short bits of heavy violence but nothing shocking.

Ferox13 08-08-2014 11:54 PM

^I thought that was one of the best films I have seen in recent years. The lead actor was excellent. I never heard of the expression 'starred up' til I seen this film and it actually does happen.

Guardians of the Galaxy

6/10

It's mildly entertaining. Guardians are an interesting group of characters. I wish the story would have been as well. Especially if the story was going to be so so cliche, I wish they would have heavily accentuated the characters. But they didn't.

I agree. I give it an 8/10 just because it was so entertaining. I'd probably give it a 9 if the story was more interesting.
