wasnt too fond of the original, but thats some badass cover art.

Yes. I haven't seen the original but as far I read in many reviews that it's a scene to scene remake of the same director who made the original only about 10 year ago!

I dig this more than the original, such an energetic flick with some great scares. Menacing pace/tone.

George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead (2008)

Sorry to say that after seeing movies like Cloverfield & Rec. it was a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! It's worse than his Land of the Dead, not even "good" enough like Day of the Dead remake, moreover I think The Zombie Diaries was better than this diary!

Cat O'Nine Tails.
More than decent giallo slasher. If none of you have seen it yet, make a note.

Despare 05-07-2008 08:44 AM

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle

Dead Moon Rising - I really didn't like this one, even for an ultra low budget zombie film it was bad. Could've been worse, my expectations were just way too high.

Jaws 2.
The film ended and I kept wondering "what was the point in making this lame sequel except to cash on the original?"

Zombie Strippers

Caught a couple of theatrical releases recently, Funny because the movie I thought I'd like the most I ended up disliking and the one I figured I'd be indifferent at best about I actually really enjoyed. That said don’t waist your box office dollars on Forbidden Kingdom. Although if you are interested in just having a jolly old theatre going time then go and see Zombie Strippers with Jena Jameson. Trust me you haven’t seen zombies tell you've seen em pole dance.

Here is the trailer for the Zombie movie:

Iron Man

What an amazing film. There isn't much I can say about this awesome action packed Comic Book flick other then RDJ was the perfect casting choice EVER made for a lead in a comic book movie. He was BORN to play Tony Stark. Favs definitely hit this one right out of the park. Now let's hope and pray that The Dark Knight is a million times better then this like I know and hope it will be.

9/10

I watched that one and Harold and Kumar at a party... Jay and Silent Bob NEVER get old (but you're talking to somebody who loves every Askewniverse movie and even liked Jersey Girl).

IRON MAN

I can't wait for the Avengers movie, the Capt. America Movie, the Thor Movie, and even... yes... I'll probably see the Ant Man movie. I don't know what was missing from Iron Man, don't get me wrong I had a BLAST and want to see it again in the theater at least once, but I liked Batman Begins and Spiderman better as far as superhero movies go. *SHRUG*

Elvis_Christ 05-07-2008 08:03 PM

Jersey Girl was solid. I get a lot of shit for diggin' that one :D

Did you really like the movie or do you just have a big man crush on Ben Affleck?

wasn't i the one that recommended you see it some time ago ?

I think Jersey girl is Kevin Smiths best film. (Jay and silent Bob Strike Back is my favorite - but Jersey girl is a great film - and probably technically better.)

urgeok2 05-07-2008 11:47 PM

Arthur and the Invisibles (Luc Besson)

i heard nothing but terrible things about this film - it wasnt as bad as i thought.
the live action parts were good - and the animation was really cool.

some of the voice actors were badly cast (like di nero) but David Bowies character was great.

all in all - not that bad a film.

I'm suprised anyone Mr Dudley Doright trying to be a rebel sexy. I liked the story/characters but really hated the majority of the actors.

I saw it out of the blue when an ex girlfriend hired it. Don't think I would've watched it otherwise because of the cast (Jo Lo, Will Smith, Ben Affleck). I remember discussing it with you awhile back espcially how it made me appreciate the whole love story flick a lot more.

I agree with you that its his best film. Its a really mature well written flick with a bunch of the elements that made his other films so great... its the same way I feel about Tarantino's Jackie Brown.

Last watched: Weird Science

Really good watch dug the cameos of Micheal Berryman and Vernon Wells. Gonna have to track down Real Genius now!

Mr. Brooks ~ surprisingly enough, I liked it. Not really a Kevin Costner fan, but he didn't annoy me like he usually does (maybe because I wasn't supposed to "like" the psycho ;) ), he did a good job. And William Hurt was great. Could have easily been a bore, but it wasn't. A dark, interesting film.

I, too thought this was a really great movie. Kevin Costner was awesome.

The Mothman 05-08-2008 03:46 PM

i thought it was alright. Nothing special really, and I've never had beef with Costner either.

The Mysteries of the Great Lakes :

got a free invitation to the new Imax film that opens tomorrow.
very interesting film, centering on one mans quest to reintroduce the sturgeon to the lakes - in an attempt to preserve them from extinction.
Also took a look at the Bald Eagle.

a look at how the lakes have historically been abused by man, and what we have to do to remedy the situation.
