The Fifth Element

About half of The Stink of Flesh, it was poorly acted with a bad story AND managed to be very boring. Anybody sit through the whole thing? Is it worth watching until the end? Am I missing something here?

If I recall correctly, it's on the HDC "Other" 100. It wasn't one that I personally had a chance to see, but somebody here must have really liked it...

The beginning was good...the rest was sorta downhill.

Hillside Cannibals - ENORMOUS disappoinment...Fastforwarded through most of it without missing a thing...Can you say "slow and pointless"?...Terrible.

I am currently halfway through 'A Dead Calling' with Bill Mosely and Sid Haig...Not bad at all...Actually, pretty good so far...Looking forward to the rest of it.

EDIT: Finished 'A Dead Calling'...It was a very, VERY good movie :)

i have it - i get a big kick out of it. it's actually well liked from what i've seen around.

it's obviously flawed (probably the worst ending i've ever seen in a movie) but there's something loveable about it.

check the credits to see who did the score - i'm off to see The Ruins with him tonight :)

Have to check that one out I like Bill Mosely and Sid Haig a lot. I read a few good reviews for it. I'll keep my eye out for it.

Monster Squad

6/10

Natural Born Killers

8/10

Grindhouse

It was my first chance to see it in it's proper format on the big screen... IT was awesome. I had already seen Planet Terror and Death Proof individualy so I was a little confused at times when some scenes where missing from them in the Grindhouse version, though it didn't spoil it at all.

I waqs confused as to why so many got up soon as planet Terror finished to go outside for a smoke or to the toilets... missing the trailers, what the hell is wrong with some people.

8.5/10

Young Mr. Lincoln (1939)

I watched a very interesting George Romero flick called Bruiser.

Interesting premise and some interesting twists but the ending just kind of petered off into nothing....

urgeok2 04-09-2008 08:18 PM

the Ruins

kind of gross in a couple of places - but unremarkable otherwise - and a lot of it was laughable. so-so

Elvis_Christ 04-09-2008 08:21 PM

As soon as there's a decent torrent I'll check out the ruins. Can't be bothered waiting for them to release it over here years after everyone else has seen it.

Is this a DTV release?

Niklaus 04-10-2008 01:37 PM

I finally got around to viewing "Antropophagus" and was very pleasantly suprised... This movie kicked ass!

I had to take a snapshot of the infamous scene in which Nikos (aka "The Antropophagus Beast") rips Maggie's unborn child from her womb and eats it - That was sick!

just watched mathieu kassovitz's la haine (1995).

firstly- thanks alky for being the last straw in getting me to watch this film. i had been meaning to for some time, but your recommendation brought it to the top of my netflix queue. i was more or less blown away by this one. extremely gritty, extremely real, and extremely good.

I love that movie...really cool premise, and Jason Flemyng was badass (who knew?). Agreed on the ending though...didn't really go anywhere.
