Don't Look Now - Recently watched the film for the first time, thought it was great, and watched it again just now. I think i'll pop in Jacobs Ladder or 1408, not sure which.

Cool its probably one of my more ancient VHS tapes haha!
The Warriors meets Mad Max SO fuckin' cool!
You got the second one dude?

Watched The Devil Made Me Do It. Pretty funny flick about NZ's shittest stuntman Randy Campbell :D

and

Hot Fuzz.... really clever liked it more than Shaun Of The Dead. Timothy Dalton is gave a great performance.

The Mothman 03-18-2008 04:43 AM

Exiled

this was awesome. beautifuly shot. The action scenes were awesome, although a little confusing. I loved the western elements mixed in. The final showdown kicked ass.

last seen :

The Norliss Tapes

Although i was struggling to stay awake (no fault of the movie) it was great to see this again after so many years.
It still holds up fairly well - especially for a made for TV movie - something i normally despise.

replace the reporter with a writer
replace the typwriter with cassette tapes
replace Darren McGavin with Roy Thinnes

are basically the differences between The Nightstalker and The Norliss Tapes

The Mothman 03-18-2008 05:43 AM

Urg,
this is kind of out of the blue, but you weren't around when it came out.

What were your thoughts on Rambo?

i still haven't seen it yet.
i heard that it was crazy violent ...thats about it.

being at the Julie Benz interview while she was promoting it was cool.

she told a story about a big pig getting loose and running at her so i'll be looking for that scene when i finally see the movie

The Mothman 03-18-2008 06:15 AM

there actually wasnt a scene in the movie were benz got chased...
you might wanna see it when you get the time, its fun if you enjoyed the originals.

no - it was offscreen .. the pigs werent supposed to chase her - they were just in a scene nearby

urgeok2 03-18-2008 07:09 AM

i forgot - before The Norliss Tapes we finished The Scorpion King which we had started the night earlier.

Terrible terrible movie - but you can see the the Rocks potential as a decent performer

Nowhere near it. Think of a cross between Escape From NY, Mad Max and The Warriors, with a nudge to 28 Days Later.

Does the recipe sound delicious?;)

I really want to see this one on the big screen. I have enjoyed Neil Marshall's work in the past and I know he loves this stuff so it will have heart!

IMHO Dog Soldiers not only brought back the Werewolf movie but also the old school fx and costumed creatures too! I loved that one!

And The Descent, again only in my opinion, will go down as one of the best of 2000's in Horror.

So no matter what, I will at least have fun with this movie.

As far as critics, I only read their reviews after I have seen the movie, that way I either get another insight to it or I get to laugh my ass off at their stupidity!

didn't have time for a family movie last night so we watched the 1st two episodes of Taxi - season 1 been decades sinc ei saw those shows.

then after everyone else crashed i watched AVP R.
The nice thing about not seeing a movie like this for a long while after it's released - is that you hear a ton of bad things about it so you expect the worst.
Turns out that it was nowhere as bad as i thought it would be.
It was 10 times better than the 1st one ..

the casting was pretty bad, and there were some dumb choices with some of the incidentals... but there were a couple of clever turns i had to respect - such as the different direction this one took re. the human/predator relationship.

it kept me watching and interested ..something the 1st one failed to do.

illdojo 03-19-2008 05:39 AM

I Am Legend - 7/10
Not bad. I liked the story. Will Smith did a good job. Mike Patton from Faith No More, Mr Bungle, exc. did all the vocal tracks for the creatures, so that was cool for a long time fan like me.

i loved that film. Some great scenes of raw emotion, and the driveby car chase scene was super intense and well shot.

Stranger Than Fiction

Kane_Hodder 03-19-2008 08:49 AM

Sublime.
Not that good.

phantomstranger 03-19-2008 09:13 AM

"Doomsday"

Wow, I haven't seen so complete a rip off of "Escape From New York" since, well..."Escape From LA".
Actually it's not a complete rip off of "New York" it also steals from "Mad Max" and "Resident Evil" and a little bit of George Romero's "Knight Riders" too.
But you know what's kind of funny about all of this. The movie is actually entertaining.I guess when you take the best parts from other films and blend them all together you can't help but come up with something fun.
A modern "B" movie with a truly beautiful leading lady.

jenna26 03-19-2008 09:52 AM

Hot Fuzz ~ LOVED this movie. Very, very funny. Liked it even better than Shaun of the Dead.

Shoot 'Em Up ~ completely ridiculous of course, and dumb....but it is a lot of fun. And hey, Clive Owen....no bad there. ;)

and in honor of St. Patrick's Day we watched...
Leprechaun
Leprechaun 2
Leprechaun 3
Leprechaun in the Hood

None of these were as much fun as I was expecting. I figured I would at least get a few laughs. Oh well.

Eaten Alive ~ Hooper's film, the first time I had seen it. It had its moments, but really kind of disappointing.

And finally two more Masters of Horror episodes.....

Deer Woman ~ Uneven, I liked some of it, and some of the humor was funny, and some of it just kind of fell flat.
Sick Girl ~ had to like this one just because it was so freakin' weird.

Leprechaun is excellent!!! Good picks Jenna, but you missed the best one. :( Back 2 Da Hood is my favourite of them all and most people agree about that. You should def check it out!!!

Watched the original Halloween last night. LOL THIS MOVIE IS SO FUNNY you guys should really check it out! Omg... lol... I dun even know what to say. Just pure cheese, really good if you like movies that are unintentionally funny.

Watched The Thing after that and it put me to sleep... wow John Captern really can't direct no wonder he hasn't done anything lately but that lame tv episode last year... that cigarette thing... which sucked but not as much as the thing. I got it on HD so i could see all the errors they made in even better quality LOL... really poor attempt at filmmaking and very amateur.

Oh, and... Ellen Page.

Kurt Cobain: About A Son - 9/10
An amazing documentary made with 25 hours of taped interviews with Kurt at his home and via telephone with journalist Michael Azerrad. A Visually beautiful film about Kurt in his own words. The film also has a stellar soundtrack. A must see for any Nirvana fan.

Psycom5k 03-19-2008 06:17 PM

There Will Be Blood I thought it was going to be boring, but I had nothing better to do so I watched it. I was wrong, its a great movie. 9/10 easily.

Elvis_Christ 03-19-2008 07:30 PM

Citizen Toxie... loved it especially how they apologised at the start for the first two shitty sequels that came before it :D

Avenging Force... Fine piece of 80s action cinema.

_____V_____ 03-19-2008 07:38 PM

Four of the Apocalypse.

Fulci certainly had an eye for westerns. Too bad he didnt pursue that genre, or he might have given some veterans over there a real run for their money.

This one is sorta like Once Upon A Time In The West crossed with Django, with a slight flavor of The Wild Bunch. But it is a real treat - both visually and script-wise. A band of misfit criminals who have to cling together because the townsfolk want them dead, and a mysterious gunman who joins the group later with plans of his own...delicious! The dude who plays Chaco (the gunman) is the scene-stealer, and his character dominates all through the second half. There is enough gore to satisfy Fulci fans, including some really tough brutality scenes and a gut-wrenching cannibal scene.

For the most part, I liked it. It is a notch above Fulci's later offerings in horror. Well worth a check if you can find it.
