Fido

Still think it's pretty good, just not as much on the second go.

Dead Alive- 6/10

I'm starting to not like it quite as much as I used to. Not sure why, it's just slightly lost the humor.

I liked it a lot, though like most movies, the more you watch it, the less great it becomes.

The only movie I have seen that hasn't done that yet, is The Great Escape. I've watched that movie at least, 300 times.

I agree with you on some movies, but I have plenty that never get old.

Equilibruim. I'm taking a moment to note how much I loved the use of colour symbolism in this movie. Really bealutiful. Great movie, wonderful fight scenes, one of my favourites.

On a lesser note, I also watched Practical Magic. Bleh.

Jack O' Lantern ~ goofy low budget horror. But turns out, I went to high school with one of the guys that stars in it.....I KNEW I recognized the guy from somewhere, and I was thinking he must have been in another one of these movies that I insist on watching...LOL...anyway, that was a first.

Thank You For Smoking ~ funny, smart.....I liked it more than I expected to honestly.

And two more Masters of Horror episodes....

Incident On and Off a Mountain Road ~ at first, I thought it was way too much like other films I had seen for me to really like it, but the last half hour or so was pretty good I thought.

Chocolate ~ I really liked the basic idea, but it was often weak. Worth a watch though, I think.

There will be Blood or There will be oil?

I had a feeling I wasn't going to get a lot out of it. Sure, Daniel Day-Lewis was great, but nothing much got me ruffled about it.

I thought the score and use of sound effects was one of the best aspects of it.

Though it did leave a few good disscusion points for afterwards.

6.5/10

jaybomb 03-03-2008 11:28 AM

The Last Picture Show (1971)

You know, 1971 was one of the strongest years the cinema's ever had. Along with Bogdanovich's masterpiece, it also held Straw Dogs, The French Connection, and A Clockwork Orange, all of which were Oscar nominated, controversial films. Talk about a good year!

Clockwork Orange was nominated for best picture wasn't it but what won?

I don't remember of the top of my head, but how any movie in the same year is better than that defeats me.
