Hills Have Eyes
Picked up the Anchor Bay double disk DVD a while back and finally sat down to watch it .. Still a good movie - not very scary though... it was the shit at the time but there's been so much sense. Enjoyed the special features - one of the better 'making of' featurettes i've seen. |
Megiddo: The Omega Code 2
~yawn~ |
"The Pool"
Crap!! |
"The Petrified Forest" - The weak link in the 'Warner Gangster Collection' box set and no mistake. here were so many better titles to add other than this.
Hardly a Gangster film at all, it's more akin to the Bogart flick "The Desperate Hours" about 'small fry hoods on the run'. The problem is the amazingly stodgy first half hour (Bogart does not even appear and biy, does it hurt) where the (delightfully English) Leslie Howard's scenes with a very young Bette Davis are arse numbing in their twee tedium! On and on they waffle as Bette bugs out her eyes and flutters her lashes and Leslie sups on his pipe with measured civility. Damn! Where the hell are the hoods when you need them?' 'Warner's' amazingly obvious, but cute, stage-bound outdoor set adds a nicely comfortable charm, but we REALLY , REALLY need Bogart to appear! Evenmtually he does (over half an hour gone) and at last some real drama and atmosphere blasts out!! With the balls out hard boiled attitude of Bogart waking the audience up! The moral/psychological/sociological dialogue exchanges between Howard and Bogart are cliche of course, but they work well enough and the huge contrast between these two actors really works. You could not get a more English actor as Leslie Howard (who would of course die in the approaching WWII) or a more American actor as Bogart. One hell of a strange combination but it's what makes the film work. But damn!!! This sucker is so slow, marshy and annoyingly mannered for the first 35 minutes or so (and now and again later on as well). It's the one title in the box set that has really dated. Thankfully all the other titles are much, MUCH better...but there were so many other 'Warner' gangster classic to replace this with in the box set. GREAT DVD presentation though., and for fans of Bogart there are some great moments to be had, but it's a case of the parts being better than the whole. |
"the texas chainsaw massacre" (new version)...with a extra disk...documentary about Ed Gein...isnt the best documentary i've have seen...
"Friday the 13: The Final chapter: part IV"..better than number 3.. no extras on thid dvd  |
part 3 has commentaries, but there stupid all they do is talk about how dumb there roles where. I would be proud to be in any friday movie.

"Hitch"
Maybe itīs because iīm single or maybe iīm just fucked up and weird, but that movie depressed the hell out of me....:( It had a few funny moments though. |
the premise seems like it could be interesting, but it looks like it just turns into a "Some guy who's usually pretty smooth turns into a clumsy fuck" romantic comedies
|
over the last couple days...
Guess Who- I was forced to see it, I'll admit it did have some pretty funny moments and it was actually watchable. Deep in the Woods- Not much to say but it sucked. Prince of Darkness- Bored me half to death. Octopus-  |
Ray
it was very good |

No, thats not the story at all. Itīs about a guy who, as a proffesion, helps people to get their dream girls. Of course his own dream girl is not that easy. Well thats the story for ya. |
Martin Scorceses Kundun 10/10

Free Willie - if you can fucking believe that ..
(hey, it was for my kid) on the plus side Michael Madson was in it - that was a pleasant suprise .. and Lori Petty never wore a bra once.... i guess that was a reward for the dads who made the 90 minute sacrifice. |

Barbie - Fairytopia 7/10
Good, but not great Barbie CGI movie, and no interruption of songs like in many other animated movies. |

That is one of my favorite comedies. |
For me, it's one of those movies that I didn't think was great when I watched it...
...yet I find myself quoting it often (at work, of course). |
Just watched Sin City , freakishly awesome. Lotsa hot chicks, and killing....pretty damn funny too. Made me think of Elijah Wood in an even worse way though. He's a creepy lil shit.

- Ju-On 2 .... getting a bit messy now - what worked in the 1st was over exploited in the 2nd.
- The Middle of Nowhere .... mexican crime-drama. well made - no suprises. - About a Boy ... good film, hard not to like. retained some of the usual cliches while throwing out others .. |
Manhunter and Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things

Anatomie(english title is "Anatomy")- a decent horror/mystery/medical movie, mostly good acting, some nice twists, not really scary but definitely worth a viewing(if you don't mind foreign films) . 7/10

As promised: Outlaw Josey Wales: A pretty good movie, but not as good as the other Eastwood western's Ive seen. Still, very enjoyable. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest: This blew me away. Some parts were hilarious, others were disturbing [Esp. the ending]. One of the best movies Ive ever seen Dog Day Afternoon: Pacino was great as always. Some great laughs, and a partially surprising ending. Street Fighter: Damn I love this movie. Sure, the actors [Raul Julia being the only exception] are awful, the plot is nowhere near faithful to the games...but hell, I love this movie:) |
