Cloverfield

I wasn't really impressed, I thought the main characters were very irritating, and I wish they all died on the bridge!

I've heard this movie be described as realistic, right, because this is a common occurance? And speaking of being realistic, as though you would be videoing everything, the entire time, sure, ok, you deserve to die then!

5/10

Fear No Evil ~ early '80s film. Sometimes boring, mostly silly....but there are a couple of good scenes, so not a total waste of time I suppose.

Alien V Predator Requiem

That was awesome, but I'm a sucker for Alien and Predator movies so I just want more,more,more.....

7.5/10

Diary of the Dead

Really fucking cool. Samuel, the Amish dude is sweeter than Bub. There are a few weak moments, but the suspense is great, the gore is awesome (even though rather digi-looking) and some of the acting is great. The comedic moments (of which Romero is so fond) are the very best comedic moments he has ever crafted, genuinely funny & really suspenseful.

Afterward, George Romero was interviewed by John Landis and everyone (Greg Nicotero, Romero, Landis, Robert Rodriquez, Mick Garris, Johnny Legend & Adrien Barbeau) had drinks over at the Pig & Whistle. I introduced myself to George, who asked me to say "hello" to Dario when I speak with him next.:D

Creepshow...

novakru 02-14-2008 07:44 AM

Sunshine- WTF?? I like space movies though...no matter how bad.

Shoot em Up- Over the top and needless violence,Yes.... it's still uncool to kill mother's and throw newborns around.
Sigh.
What happened to you talented Mr.Owen? You have become just another Hollywood whore, huh?:(

Skinwalkers- top notch wolfman movie- 5 stars out of five.

Shoot 'Em Up (2007)
Novakru's not gonna like me for this, but I loved this flick. It never took itself seriously, and had adrenaline pumping for its 82 minute entirity.
People talk about Rambo being the ultimate mindless action movie in ages...I have to wonder if they've seen this.

Oktyabr (AKA October) (AKA Ten Days That Shook the World) (1928)
It's the equivalent of reading a text book; you learn a lot, but there's just so much going on with so little personal connection that you find yourself daydreaming through a lot of it.

Kane_Hodder 02-14-2008 09:00 AM

Zodiac.
I liked this film's fresh take on the dark slasher type. Nicely made.

hellfire1 02-14-2008 09:28 AM

I loved Shoot 'Em Up as well. So fun and hilarious.

Reeker... good god, this was boring.

GorePhobia 02-14-2008 12:52 PM

Shoot Em' Up was amazing!

And so was Rambo.

Both great flicks!

Geddy 02-14-2008 02:09 PM

Rushmore...

Boardinghouse 1982 - This was one hella weird movie. Kinda like Franco on bad blow bought in a restroom at a frat party during the 80s! It had telekenetics, slasher like deaths, 80s generic bands and soundtracks, big hair, and boobs. Mediocre idea, cheap execution, and maddening fun for the tasteless!

The Slaughter 2007 - Ok, I loved and Hated this one. Two thirds of the movie had inane dialogue, generic and archetypical characters, and poor CGI (the hated part), however the last third of the movie had some decent wordplay, character interaction between 3 of that points survivors, good horror references, funny one liners and some hands on gore! I swear it was like there were multiple directors (only credit is Jay Lee to the writing, editing and directing I think).

Not only was the above a bit schizo but the story was the same. Is it a supernatural thriller, a gothic horror, a comedy gone bad or just another rip off of Evil Dead???

Demons and Zombies and Curse, Oh my!

Staplez 02-14-2008 06:16 PM

DeathProof, for the third time.

You're a freaking commentary fiend! I envy you; I'd like to watch more commentaries than I do.
Any recommendations?

The Man Who Fell to Earth... again

novakru 02-15-2008 12:45 PM

ok......
Shoot em up had ONE good scene.....

The beginning shot where Smith is sitting there all serious and badass -and then takes a bite of carrot.
But Owen is still a whore:cool:

And no matter how bad your taste Alky...I'll always love you:D

Watched Deep Red last night. Loved it.

the adventures of huckleberry finn 1939 - (5/10)

watched in Lit class and it was absolutely awful. it didn't follow the book at all. the comments coming the room about Jim and Huck's sexuality kinda ruined also.

boxcutter 02-15-2008 05:30 PM

Watched Planet Terror for the second time with commentary by director. So funny. Better than Death Proof and I loved Death Proof.

Cinestro 02-15-2008 06:05 PM

I liked Planet Terror a bit more also.

Just saw Jumper - My 13 year old liked it if that gives you any idea as to how it pans out.

Haha yeah, I'm trying to watch all the commentaries on the dvds I have, I'm almost done with my horror movie ones. You should check out the anchor bay release of Re- Animator that had a lot of cool stuff on it. If you liked the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, the commentary for that is pretty interesting. The anchor bay release of Dawn of the dead (original) has probably been my favourite so far.

Disease 02-16-2008 04:42 AM

28 days later

I was really dissapointed the first time I watched this years ago, but after watching 28 weeks later and getting into it I thought I would give this another play.

I enjoyed it a lot more than previously, but was still dissapointed with the lack of infected. I love the soundtrack, I must have it.

A l'interieur (Inside)

Finally. A few "Uh huh... sure..." moments that are completely unbelievable and took me out of the film a bit, but a good first effort overall from Bustillo and Maury. It's extremely violent and gory, and Dalle is as creepy as always.
