Rambo.

He's back after more than a decade off-screen, yet John Rambo still packs the mean punches and upholds his moral values. A gritty and uber-violent flick, the action is relentless and the adrenaline rushes keep coming in waves one after the other. Stallone does a great job in calling the action shots, and after Rocky Balboa, is all set to take over the "Action King" status again.

Just watch it, for entertainment galore.

WHY???

The first one had a good idea, but was shit.

I thought a sequal by another director made a lot of sense. :)

I'll give it a watch soon.

GorePhobia 01-26-2008 06:11 AM

Boogeyman was awful and I bet the sequel blows also.

Boogeyman 2 is NOTHING like the original, and I actually enjoyed it. It's a slasher, in the classic sense. With a great cast of characters, a central location, a full-on sex scene, excellent gore, and inventive deaths. Tobin Bell is also in the cast.

I really recommend it for those who enjoy slashers.

It's not amazing, but it's literally NOTHING ( I mean... there's a ONE SECOND mention of the first film, and the film involves a "boogeyman"... but so does 39502585825 other films.) like that shitfest that came out in 2005.

Anyway...

My Bloody Valentine airs in 12 minutes on SCREAM.

Still love it.

Juno (2007)
Heartfelt, mostly genuine, and very funny. It's deserved most of the hype it's gotten, and Ellen Page and Michael Cerra do a fantastic job. Entertaining? Yep. Best Picture worthy? Hell no.

Atonement (2007)
This is the second time I've seen this, and I believe now more than ever that it's slightly better than 'No Country'. It's such an intensely involving story, and feels so much like something belonging to a much higher level of cinema. And the fact that Joe Wright didn't get nominated for Best Director (take a look at that six-minute, $15 million dolly shot) and Knightley and McAvoy were jipped is a damn shame.

Rambo (2008)
It really was not very good, aside from the last twenty minutes or so. It was bloody, violent, and gritty, but most of that comes from Burma soldiers to women and children, and that isn't what I payed to see. The climax was done in true Rambo form, but everything else was sorely lacking.

Too bad you didnt like it, Kev.

The docu-drama beginning was essential to give a little background on the current situation in Burma...and the first 30-odd minutes was a bit slow (by Rambo-ian standards), but overall I thought it was a great movie experience. Stallone as a filmmaker has evolved very nicely, coming off Rocky Balboa and now Rambo.

_____V_____ 01-26-2008 10:53 PM

Alien vs Predator : Requiem.

Anderson's earlier disappointing video-game meeting of two of the most scariest franchises in cinema has evolved...and how! Requiem is all that AvP wasn't. It's intense, gritty, fast, relentless...and scary.

It picks off from where the first one left, and makes for surprisingly gripping viewing. The characterisation is not much to write about...since an AvP movie is all about body-count...so we have plenty of innovative fights and deaths, and the ultimate showdown. The Predalien is impressive, and the dark, brooding atmosphere of the entire movie is a big plus to the overall effect it leaves on the viewer. The Strause brothers have done plenty of justice to both franchises, which is notable...since that is where Paul W Anderson had failed.

Watch it at least once. You wont be disappointed.

Rating - 07/10

Agree.
Quite surprisingly it's entertaining. Actually I didn't expect this much from this sequel after the dreadful 1st part. A good time passing flick for a horror fan.

anyway, last seen...
Solstice (2007)

Since Thursday, I've seen:

Cloverfield – Not unlike a lot of other people, I really liked the monster and destruction parts, kind of hated the characters. Not a bad movie, though.

The Descent – Watched for the third or fourth time. Still one of my most favorite recent horror movies.

Urgh! I want to see it so bad! A few of my friends have seen it and say it's absolutely magnificent, but none of the theaters around here are playing it! I can't understand how they haven't gotten it yet, especially after it's Best Picture nod.

As soon as humanly possible, I am going to see this.

I was impressed, actually, by Stallone's directing. He certainly does have an acute eye for action detail and a quick pace. I've heard rumors of a future film on Edgar Allan Poe's life, written and directed by him, and I'm very exscited to see where this goes.

Juno

It was like a bad Wes Anderson dream...... The first half was so grateing, I ended up having to poor a drink to get through it. Why put in so much shit indy folk music? At the end there was about 5 songs crammed into 5 minutes, I thought that Juno the character was a joke as well, a 16 yr old girl in the year 2007 with the pop culture knowledge of a 16 yr old in 1997......

3/10
