Literary eminences like Stephen King noticed early on the creativity and powerful prose throughout the Books of Blood, bringing Clive Barker's stories to the forefront of horror fiction. One of these stories was "The Midnight Meat Train" following one Leon Kaufman as he discovers the origins of a series of grizzly subway train murders in New York City... and the controlling forces behind it all. Clive Barker's The Midnight Meat Train Special Definitive Edition brings the original story back with all-new material: a new afterword written by Clive Barker, 9 color paintings based on the story by the author, a new introduction by Phil & Sarah Stokes, a foreword by the movie screenplay writer Jeff Buhler, the first complete commercial printing of the movie screenplay, never-before-seen photos, notes, sketches and more. The Midnight Meat Train Special Definitive Edition is currently offered for preorder in three signed limited edition hardcover formats and is expected to be in stock by summer of 2014. These collector's editions are expected to sell out extremely fast. The ultra-deluxe traycased hardcover may take longer to ship than the other editions due to the book being carefully handcrafted with premium materials. This is the first and only printing of this special comprehensive signed hardcover edition. Reserve your copy of this definitive collector's edition of one of Clive Barker's classic and most celebrated stories: "The Midnight Meat Train." https://www.darkregions.com/template...thor-photo.jpg Clive Barker was born in Liverpool, England, at 1:00 am on the morning of 5 October 1952. He grew up there and went to Dovedale and Quarry Bank schools - the same schools that John Lennon of the Beatles had been to a few years before Clive! He then studied English and Philosophy at Liverpool University. Whilst at school he wrote - stories, comic strips and plays - and together with his friends formed a fringe theatre group which mounted productions both in Liverpool and, later, in London. His first books, The Books of Blood, were published in 1984 in England and Clive began to concentrate on writing fiction rather than plays. Publishing both short stories and novels for adults, he moved to Beverly Hills in Los Angeles in 1991 where he next wrote his first published book for 'all ages' - The Thief of Always. Clive has directed and produced films, written for television and exhibited his paintings in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York, as well as working on comics, models, video games and toys. The first volume of the Abarat series was published in 2002 and made the New York Times' bestseller lists, as well as winning a number of awards. Abarat II followed in 2004, winning a Bram Stoker award, with volume three - Absolute Midnight - released in September 2011. |

Deep Like the River by Tim Waggoner Available in Ebook, Trade Paperback and Signed Deluxe Slipcased Hardcover The new horror novella DEEP LIKE THE RIVER will be available in ebook, trade paperback and signed leather-bound deluxe slipcased hardcover on Amazon.com and DarkRegions.com at: http://www.darkregions.com/books/dee...y-tim-waggoner Description It was supposed to be fun. A chance to get away. An opportunity for two sisters to bond and for one sister to heal. It was a small river, calm, slow-moving. Perfect for a leisurely canoe trip on a beautiful summer day. But then they hear a baby crying on the shore, abandoned and overheated. Alie and Carin have to take her with them. They can’t just leave her there. A simple canoe trip becomes a rescue mission. But there’s something on the shore, hidden by the trees. Something that’s following them every step of the way – watching, waiting . . . Around every bend, the river becomes stranger, darker, more dangerous, until Alie isn’t sure what’s real and what isn’t. The river wants the child for itself, but no matter what it throws at her, Alie’s determined to get the baby to safety. She’s already lost one child. But she'll have to fight the darkness that haunts the river – as well as the darkness within herself – if she doesn’t want to lose another. Praise for Deep Like the River "Waggoner's new work is a new high water mark for him. Its chilling waters will take you into dark places...and weirdly enough you'll have a great time. Recommended. Wear a life jacket." - John Shirley author of Doyle After Death "I don’t know if I’ve ever read a story quite like Tim Waggoner’s DEEP LIKE THE RIVER. With its high emotional and metaphysical content and weird, surrealistic imagery, it reads a bit like Algernon Blackwood’s “The Willows” with Kafka collaborating and Carl Jung offering occasional advice. Or maybe it’s an adventure story that’s taken a sudden turn into The Twilight Zone. However you characterize Waggoner’s approach, the result is a fine piece of writing exploring the mysteries of a mind struggling with the guilt, pain, and terror of grief." - Steve Rasnic Tem, author of Blood Kin "A descent into the madness of a ruined psyche, 'Deep Like the River' puts Waggoner's talent for the eerie, desolate, and unpredictable in the spotlight. A must-read for those who like their horror tinged with desperation and guilt." - Ronald Malfi, author of Cradle Lake http://www.darkregions.com/template/...ver_1000px.jpg |

World War Cthulhu: A Collection of Lovecraftian War Stories is Now Available at: http://www.darkregions.com/books/wor...an-war-stories Featuring 22 stories of Lovecraftian horror and war accompanied by 22 full color interior illustrations, World War Cthulhu: A Collection of Lovecraftian War Stories is one of the most anticipated Dark Regions Press titles of 2014. Lovecraftian War Stories from the Fall of Troy to the Distant Future The world is at war against things that slink and gibber in the darkness, and titans that stride from world to world, sewing madness and death. War has existed in one form or another since the dawn of human civilization, and before then, Elder terrors battled it out across this planet and this known universe in ways unimaginable. It has always been a losing battle for our side since time began. Incidents like the Innsmouth raid, chronicled by H.P. Lovecraft, mere blips of victory against an insurmountable foe. Still we fight, against these incredible odds, in an unending nightmare, we fight, and why? For victory, for land, for a political ideal? No, mankind fights for survival. Our authors, John Shirley, Mark Rainey, Wilum Pugmire, William Meikle, Tim Curran, Jeffrey Thomas and many others have gathered here to share war stories from the eternal struggle against the darkness. This book chronicles these desperate battles from across the ages, including Roman Britain, The American Civil War, World War Two, The Vietnam Conflict, and even into the far future. http://www.darkregions.com/template/..._Image_One.jpg Hardnosed lawyer Billy Halleck carries a few pounds more then he should but, hey, he’s happy, content, successful and, well, let’s say ‘highly sexually charged.’ It’s this latter area that’s the cause of all that’s to befall him, when his wife, Heidi distracts him while he’s driving and causes Billy to run down a woman who was part of a group of traveling Gypsies. The case is kicked out of court (thanks to the judge being a personal friend of Billy) and everyone is happy. Well, everyone, that is, except for the dead woman’s father who’s less than impressed with American justice. “Thinner,” he whispers in Billy’s ear as he strokes Halleck’s face. And, hoo boy, it’s a retribution that truly takes the cake as, from that very moment onwards, Billy Halleck discovers the diet of the gods. No matter what he puts away, the pounds continue to roll off. Initially fearing some virulent cancer, Billy is relieved when he gets the all-clear. From then on, he’s happy with his lot: I mean, what’s not to like—clear your plate as many times as you want and you don’t put on an ounce? Hey, come on, right? Except, Billy wonders, how will this condition end? Not well, Billy’s inner voice whispers. Not well at all. Often overlooked in summaries of King’s works, Thinner is a true tour de force…a rivetting page-turner of the highest order. With all manner of goodies including an Introduction from Johnny Mains, colour artwork from both Les Edwards and Edward Miller (Les’s ‘dark half’ if truth be told)—and with Johnny and Les signing all copies—the slipcased state will be a joy to behold. Clive Barker Double Feature: For a limited time we are offering Clive Barker's The Midnight Meat Train Special Definitive Edition Signed and Numbered Limited Hardcover and The Painter, The Creature, and the Father of Lies Deluxe Signed Slipcased Hardcover together at a discounted rate at: http://www.darkregions.com/books/cli...nitive-edition The Midnight Meat Train Special Definitive Edition is expected in stock and shipping by October 27th and Double Feature orders will begin shipping then. About The Midnight Meat Train Special Definitive Edition In 1984 the Books of Blood by Clive Barker were published and quickly gained a following worldwide. Reserve your copy of this definitive collector's edition of one of Clive Barker's classic and most celebrated stories: "The Midnight Meat Train." About The Painter, The Creature, and the Father of Lies From the man who has brought you twenty books of dark fiction and fantasy, unforgettable horror movies such HELLRAISER and CANDYMAN, and countless paintings and illustrations, this is the first-ever collection of Clive Barker’s nonfiction. Representing more than 25 years of writing, THE PAINTER, THE CREATURE, AND THE FATHER OF LIES contains: All the introductions he’s written for his own works (prefaces in fiction and non-fiction books, liner notes on CDs/laserdiscs/DVDs, introductions in graphic novel adaptations, text of theatre playbills, and more); All the forewords and afterwords he’s written on other people’s works (books, graphic novels, etc.); and Essays and articles written for magazines on the horror genre and other topics. These have never been collected together and many are nearly impossible to track down. Furthermore, from Barker’s personal archives: a couple of unpublished pieces, including an unused self-penned introduction to Volume 1 of the BOOKS OF BLOOD from 1983 written from the point of view of a demon interviewing Clive Barker. The editors, Phil and Sarah Stokes, who operate the official Clive Barker website at www.clivebarker.info, have spent the past several years compiling these 100 separate pieces to produce a truly definitive work. This collection features a new foreword by Barker, an introduction by the Stokes, and new illustrations by Barker. The numbered and lettered edition will contain bonus material: cover images for the majority of publications in which the nonfiction pieces were first published. If you haven’t read any of Barker’s nonfiction, you’ll find that it’s just as compelling, enjoyable, and well-written as his fiction. These pieces cover the inspirations for his works, insights into the creative process, and musings on art and the horror genre. Not currently scheduled to be published anywhere else, don’t miss this landmark collection from a modern master of horror and dark fantasy.
