I liked Scarface but agree with Arioch about it being due to Pacino.

I am prob Pacino's biggest fan here! Loyal since I was 8 or 9 years old and saw the GF II. GFI and II are far better mob movies........ as for Pacino movies.....I think Dog Day Afternoon is his best.

Scarface and Goodfellas are great films. Scarface came out at a time when the events in the movie were actually occuring, (Cuban boat lift). So it is what I call dated, but it's also timeless in, a rags-to-riches sorta story.

Pachino was great in DDA, "ATTICA, ATTICA, ATTICA" all the Godfathers, and I also loved him in Carlito's Way.

Deniro was egually good in GF/GF II and Goodfellas.

I'm just sorry to see they both seem to be making some films which are well below their capeabilities recently, maybe that the "Artist" thing going on.

Carlito's way is one of my faves too!

You are right about their movie choices recently.........but when you look at what is out there now...not a lot of great roles to be had. I guess they are selling out to eat! Although you would think they have enough money already. Brando didn't really work for years!

Not to throw stones, ( I'm a big guy myself) but Brando looked like he was eating pretty good, for not having worked in quite awhile.

Donnie Darko is one of the best films ever, Richard kelly is one of the best writer/diectors he was 25 years old when he made it, and how come you cant understand it or at least come up with your own thery about the ending do you want everything told to you so you dont have to think at all,cme on Donnie Darko is so great.

It's a good movie, yes, but I don't know about one of the best ever.

Back to the subject on hand.

Scarface is one of the best ever. Period. You just can't top it for that genre.

Are you sure? Is that your final answer?
