Someone I know thought it was based off the Manson family. That is crazy, their nothing alike (Sawyners and Manson Family).

Only based off Ed Gein, I to have got into a fight about that.

...People are idiots.
They basicly just took Gein's passion of making house hold object out of human flesh and put that in the movie.
